Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

No, that is not still the case. They can do pick ups (limited levels of service) at MCO now. Lyft can not though, only Uber. When you go in to use the app it will show you the levels of service available. It's more than regular Uber but still considerably less than a cab or car service.
Actually, Uber is still slightly higher than a taxi, before tip.

Apparently Uber is now charging flat rate fares in Orlando, based on expected mileage & current traffic. The app just quoted me $62.46 from MCO to Pop Century for Uber Select (the cheapest service available at the airport.) The rate will vary based on traffic and demand (formerly surge) at the time of the request.

The TaxiFareFinder web site estimates a fare of $59.88 before tip.

Now, if you believe that Uber drivers do not deserve a tip, then Uber will be cheaper.

Ah, ok. We have taken a taxi from WDW to MCO (before Uber came about) and it was more than $59, without tip. It was over $70. Maybe fares have dropped since then. Your quote for Uber Select is what we paid in Oct, give or take a few pennies

Maybe you just hit some traffic. The airport website has an estimate of between $52-$68, which puts it right in the same range as Uber. At the time I got the Uber quote, there was no surge in effect (on the driver side) and there shouldn't have been much traffic, so it was probably on the low end.

Thank you, that is SO helpful!! DH and I may end up doing that instead of the bus!

We just returned from a 10 day trip. We used Uber on 10 different occasions. Our drivers ranged from very knowledgeable about the area to totally clueless.
Overall we had great experiences using the service. All the cars were very clean and prompt. We did have to cancel a ride because the driver could not find us at the contemporary lobby drop off. I cancelled the ride on the app after I called the driver and still saw him circling around the Contemporary for 5 minutes. I called for a new ride and we got it within 2 minutes.

I would highly recommend using Uber .... It's easy, convenient and beats crowded buses!

Where is the drop off and pick up spot for UBER at Disney Springs
Strawberry Parking Lot, at the the walkway that goes out between HOB & Cirque du Soleil. It's across from where the Mears taxis park.

Hi,
I'm going to be going to Disney World over Christmas and New Year but am staying outside of the resort, so plan to use ubers quite regularly, as the hotel only offers shuttles once a day.
I just wanted to ask where the ubers can actually drop you off at the different parks? And if they are close to the parks/park entrances?

I haven't been to DisneyWorld since I was 11 and honesty don't remember much about where everything is, so just wanted a bit of insight.
Also, just wanted to see how hard/easy it was to get an uber there. I know I am going over a busy period and for most of it I will be on my own, so don't want to be hanging around for a long time trying to get an uber on my own if it won't work as well (I do use uber a lot, but I know some places are awkward).

Oh and my last question (sorry trying to be as prepared as possible), will uber drivers be running on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve/Day? As I'll be going to Disney both these times so just wondered.

Thank you for any help anyone can give me in advance :):)

Can someone tell me if you can be dropped off at Disneys Wilderness lodge if using Uber? We will be coming from Universal to explore the Disney resort decorations before going to MK for the Xmas party that night. Also after the party where should I get picked up from Uber? At MK or would Contrmporary/Poly be the best idea?

The first post of this thread covers where current drop off spots are located. It's nearish the front of each park but for MK. There are no vehicles allowed at MK, only Disney buses. The drop off point for MK is TTC. The first post will cover most all your questions.

And yes, there will be some drivers out on Christmas. How many no one can say.

Uber can pick up/drop off at all Disney resorts.
As for pick up following the party, whichever you want to get to would work. TTC, Poly, Contemporary, or even GF. Just pick one and head there then call for Uber to pick you up. Contemporary is the only one you can walk to. The other will require additional transportation.

I have an Uber/lyft question because I've never done this around Baltimore. Would Uber or Lyft allow you to make a stop along the way? I want to spend a day at Epcot on flight day, but will need to pick up my luggage on the way back to the airport. I would be willing to pay the extra money for the stop because of the diversion. How would I be able to calculate that in Uber or Lyft?

Where is your luggage going to be and how much do you have?
I ask because Epcot has luggage lockers. Outside the park, near the bus stops. We use them on every trip on our departure day. We check out, bring our bags with us and store them in the lockers till time to go. They can hold 2 carry on size bags and 2 back packs. I think 1 could hold a checked bag size bag but I'm not certain. The lockers are 4 quarters each

That said, they do allow you to add a stop now. I haven't used it myself but saw the option to add a stop right on the app

I would have a full size piece of luggage probably. I didn't even realize any of the Parks have Luggage sized lockers in the current security climate. Thanks for the information on this.

This is only Epcot and this is OUTSIDE the park, near the bus station. So no security issues

DHS also has coin-op lockers in the bus area, but not as large ones as Epcot. They would hold a carry-on, but maybe not a full-size Pullman.

Question for drivers, someone recently told me that drivers do not know the destination when they accept a ride. Is this correct? I would have thought the app would include the destination since as a user we have to include it when we request a ride. Seems odd that a driver would have to accept a ride and not know where they are taking someone

Yes, that is true. It's generally believed that Uber does not want drivers to cherry pick rides based on length, or whether the destination is in an area with low activity.

Never the less, as an independent contractor, a driver does have the right to refuse a ride at the time of pickup, which is why it's a good idea to text or phone the driver from within the app if you're going to a very far-off place such as Tampa. OTOH, Uber can drop a driver for excessive cancellations.

Wow, thanks. I guess that makes sense. Good to know about super long trips.

Hi. I am staying a Saratoga Springs in the Treehouse Villas between Christmas and New Years. We (my family of four) plan on using Uber or Lyft from our resort.

For MK (plan on getting dropped off at Contemporary). I want to be at MK on December 30 no later than 6:15 am for a 7 am opening (although two years ago we were walking down Main Street at 6:40 am on December 27).

Anyway, will Uber be able to get to the Treehouses or do I need to get to the main building at Saratgo Springs? I would be requesting an Uber about 5:45 am, based on last year, do you think there will be a lot of availability?

I believe Epcot and AK will open at 8 am the days I plan to be there so I would be requesting a little later.

Thanks so much for your help!

I don't think Uber/Lyft can get into the Treehouses, but I'm not 100% sure. There is an unattended gate at the entrance. It probably has an intercom, but I don't know whether Security will remotely open it for Uber drivers.

I'd advise asking the hotel staff when you check in. If they can't give you a firm answer, play it safe and go to the check-in porte cochére and summon Uber from there.
