If my DH or I hear of any soft openings happening, I'll post. If it's like Mission Space and Soarin, I would expect soft openings starting the beginning of February.

Thanks Teena !! I would REALLY appreciate that !! :teeth:

PixieTwinkle & iwannbindisnee, Have a wonderful trip ! and I hope we all get to ride it !!!!!! :hyper:

I am going to WDW February 12-17 (yay!) and just got some materials from Disney with a map and things like that. Included in there is a piece mentioning what there is to do during our trip and it says..."We picked these 'don't miss" attractions just for you: Disney's Animal Kingdom Expedition Everest-Before its official opening, take a sneak "peak" trek on this new high-speed train adventure where the Yeti (a.k.a. The Abominable Snowman) lurks."

:hyper: :hyper: I just looked through my pamphlet and it says the same thing for me (my dates are 2/1 - 2/6) !!!! I am SO hopeful now !!!

Does Disney actually announce soft openings or is it just a nice surprise when you get into the park and the ride is open? Because if there is a soft opening I am going to make a mad dash (literall :teeth: ) to the ride! :hyper:

I'm curious to know too, never been during a soft opening. We're in the World 2/4-12 and i'm prepared to drop whatever I'm doing and head to the AK if I find out they are taking riders!

So which is the official open date? April 1 or 7? I've seen both in this post I think. We'll be there for the 1st, but not the 7th. :confused3

This ride looks pretty cool, although I have to agree that judging from the video, it doesn't look very 'intense'...I think most people would enjoy it, even if you're not a big coaster fan. I was hoping it was going to be a bit more intense, but I was raised on Cedar Point trips, so I guess I'm a bit of a coaster fanatic ;)

I can't wait to ride it. I am trying not to learn too much about the ride so I will be surprised.

. . . . and maybe you too, WendyPooh!!!!

LOL ~~ I just watched the videos of it, that are on another thread....... I'm not too sure about that!!!! It looks amazing, but really SCARY!!!!

My DD and I were able to ride EE as a guest on Sunday. We were so excited that we were about to burst! There was a l-o-n-g line and when we were in line for about an hour the ride went down. We ended up being in line for over 2 1/2 hours, but were so glad that we had the chance to ride it since it will be awhile before we're back. It was more intense than I would have expected since it doesn't go upside down, but it's a lot of fun.

Being able to ride it really fell into our laps. We were talking to a CM and mentioned that it was hard being at AK seeing people riding EE and hearing their screams and not being able to ride. And we really were not hinting--it was just normal chit-chat. He then invited us to ride the next day with him--he's at WDW for the 1 year international program and his family hasn't been able to join him and he was excited about having people to bring on the ride. After the invitation we were like little school girls jumping up and down (well, technically my 18yo DD is a school girl :teeth: ). I woke up the next day at 6am unable to sleep. :rotfl:

Of course now I want to go back with my whole family to ride again. :rotfl2:

And I do want to contact him and invite him to dinner with my family when he's in the Washington DC area in March before he flies back to Africa. A very nice guy!

What a great story! Good for you, and how fun for the CM to be able to share some magic!

I'm wondering if EE is like Space Mountain at DL, where guests also sit two by two, with their own lap bars. I love that SM, but the SM at WDW makes me queasy.
Hmmm....

Yes, the seating is 2 by 2 and each person has their own lapbar. I felt secure in the seat and they seem enclosed enough that a person wouldn't fear their child falling out like many feel on Space Mt.

Ooops--I also meant to ask if EE was like DL's Space Mountain in that it's a very smooth ride? :)
