Ever "taken" anything from WDW?

I look for seed pods on all the foliage around WDW. Last year I was picking up pods from the ground outside of the front of AK Lodge. There was a crew pruning the bushes. The landscaper saw me and asked if I intended to plant the seeds. I said yes, and he told me exactly what to do to get them to grow in my climate. It's fun growing these odd seeds...the kids think it's really neat. However, most of them get to about 2-3" in the pot and then, sadly die. It's still fun though and I'll be looking for more unusual seeds next week!

ncbryne , you reminded me....

we were at disney vero beach a few yrs back and they have garden tour of the grounds. the landscaper gave us all kinds of seeds and shoots(mine all died) but they were fun while they lasted! so not really a misappropriation but ...

I have a "straw" from the roof of AKL that was blown off- it was specially made to shed water to Disney specs... out of plastic! It was on the ground.
A few years ago I brougth home a set of plastic "silver" ware for my DD that could not go with us, 4 place settings...complete with "napkins" - she loved them!
DS found 2 paint brushes last trip in one day, and wanted to keep one... but desided to go back late afternoon and re hide it so some other child could find it. He had as much fun hiding it as he did finding them!

On one of my first trips, my best friend and I were racking our brains trying to find gifts for each or our family members. Well, my best friend's grandmother didn't need or want anything and we couldn't think of what to get her. She is not the type to put "things" out and certainly would not wear a t-shirt (little old woman from Italy who only wore black house dresses) but she was diabetic and she could only have Equal -- didn't like sweet and low and couldn't have regular sugar. As some of you may know, Equal is expensive and she constantly complained about that. Well, we got a bag that we bought other souveniers in (a Disney bag) filled it with Equal packets from various food courts etc. That gift made that woman so happy, happier than if we would have spent hundreds of dollars on her. My friend and I will never forget that and will never look at an Equal packet the same way again.

I dont think its weird, i think is really nice and yes i bet that little old lady just loved it.

I've always wondered how I could fit Cinderella in one of those WDW souvenir bags :lovestruc .

I am a huge plant lover. So, I have pinched a piece of Begonia from the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom and picked up a piece of Plumeria from the Poly that had just been pruned. All rooted, and I have 3 beautiful living pieces of Disney that I treasure every day!

What a bunch of cleptos!!! lol just kidding... I have a few of napkins, maps, bags, and menus. I never thought of taking seeds-what a cool idea except I live in the northeast and they would probably die. I will have to see what interesting things I can collect from our Nov/Dec trip.

I brought home 3 palm trees and 2 Orchids from South Florida a couple of years ago and they are beautiful. I take them and put them in the bathtub and water them and mist them all winter long with warm water then stick them outside all summer long. When we brought them home we were tromping through 3 feet of fresh snow from the car to our house :rotfl2:

I have taken.... soaps and pens and note pads, napkins

Hoping to bring home a couple of towel animals in a couple of weeks.

you can try it but the landscaper guy ( wish i could remember his name.. if you ever go to vero it's a great tour if you like gardening) said the seeds rarely make it..i am sure though if you see someone pruning they would give you cuttings if you have the means to get them home, lke maybe in moist paper towels in a plastic bag. mine did good that way till i got to disney and forgot to rewet the towels for a few days. maybe ask at the resort desk. i think one of the lodges might have a tour like that but never took the time at wdw..vero beach is more slow paced:)

I love Disney pens! I asked a CM for one the other night when she stuffed a bunch in her pocket. She was more than happy to hand one over.

I've taken a towel from the Polynesian. (oops).

Lots of menus from all the restaurants! The chocolates we get from turndown service. Soaps and shampoos. Park maps. A ton. My DS LOVES to read them and find everything, so we always take a bunch of them.

I am a napkin taker!! I have quite a collection now. Whenever we have a little Disney Magic at a resturant, one napkin goes missing!! I have enough so that we can use them at Thanksgiving now and we remember what it was that caused Gramma to "borrow" the napkin!! :rotfl: I like to sew a little something that reminds us. On one from Chef Mickey's, I have a knife and big spoon embroidered.
I also take all the soap and shampoo and pens! When the next people use the room, well, I would not want to be them!! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Haven't taken anything other than the little soaps & shampoos, but once left something to show we were there... we checked in at ASMo the day after it opened, so I am assuming we were the first to stay in our room. We took down the poster that was hanging on the wall, and signed it on the back, with the date. Now if only I had written down which room we stayed in!!! It was a king bed, handicap accessible room in Mighty Ducks, in a room on the second floor, overlooking the pool.

Okay...in all seriousness...do they *really intend for guests to take the towel animals? Btw...we take the shampoo/soaps and pens too if we feel like it. But, it never crossed my mind that they wouldn't mind if we took one of the towel animals!

I took a cocktail napkin from Kona with "THe Polunesian" logo on it for my scrapbooking, and my son picks up rocks all the time. I also have quite the collection.

When I was in the College Program, I just loved giving away those pens! They made some people so happy, it was so much fun. Especially when they were totally not expecting it, and just looking at the pen after they signed something. Disney magic - in a ballpoint pen. :)

I am a big ban of the toiletries. I love having the mickey head soap by my bathroom sink.
I don't think anyone mentioned the coasters they put on the water glasses. Those are my favorite souvenir.

all the usual stuff they expect you to take from the room...pens!!, love to use them 'til my next trip!...napkins and menus (have a special Ohana's "hurricane menu" from after Frances...and sand from the Poly

I did not know that about the towel animals, hmmm.......
