Ever Lose Your Glasses?

I'm just wondering, with all the upside-down rides at IOA, I'm kind of worried about my 10 yo ds's glasses falling off. Any of you glasses-wearers out there ever have that problem?

Thanks!

I always take my glasses of for the coasters wouldn't take the chance of losing them:jester:

My dh and I use those rope things that you put on your glasses.
I can't think of what they are called, but you can find them anywhere (walmart, drug store, etc.).

DH and I always wear our sunglasses and my DD always wears her glasses on coasters. We have never lost them or even had them slip.

I know I've seen sunglasses in the great big catch-all net that's under the first inversions on the Hulk Coaster::yes:: Along with baseball caps, visors, etc. I wouldn't take the chance on riding with your glasses on any of the big coasters that have loops. Too risky. My husband and son always take theirs off on Hulk and Dueling Dragons. When we rode Revenge of the Mummy, they left their glasses on (no inversions) without any problems.

Check out Croakies instead. They are essentially a hollow stretchable tube that you insert the temples in. I like these because I can choose to insert the temples farther in on inversion ride so my glasses are held snuggly against my face. They are very comfortable.

I use them in water parks too since they float. Now I can wear my sunglasses even on tube rides and not worry about loosing them.

I don't wear glasses, but I lost a contact once. I was just walking around and it popped out! :)

My son lost his hat on Ripsaw Falls drop last year. After checking lost and found, water catches, etc. off and on for the rest of our trip, we decided it must've just kept flying! Either that, or the person in the log behind us is still wearing it!

I wear glasses, and they're rather loose fitting. I have worn them on every ride, and haven't had a single problem with them. So, it should be fine. Keys are a different story with me though ;)

I wear glasses and love roller coasters but was always afraid of losing my glasses so I would take them off before getting on the roller coaster. I then bought the croakies and boy what a difference. The rides are totally different when you can see what is going on. But beware - my last trip the last day at park, my croakie thing broke. This trip I am bringing an extra.

I guess the stories will vary on this thread. We went to IOA last year and our friends Son lost his glasses on Ripsaw Falls. They were never recovered. Their son could not see without them. So they spent a few hours of their vacation finding a Lenscrafters to have another pair made. Thank goodness they carried the insurance on them. So it does not have to be a upside-down roller coaster. I feel that you should just use your own judgement as to whether you wear them or not. As for me I never trust the ride. I also remove them. But I can see without them so I can still enjoy my ride. We're going again this June, and safe to say I'll keep them tucked away.

I lost my much loved (no longer manufactured) pair of Ray Bans on Tidal Wave (I think it's called!) at Busch Gardens:earseek: So I agree it's not just on coasters you can lose the things::yes::

They were not handed in:eek:

Thankfully I have not lost my glasses on any rides *knock on wood*

I would suggest getting those straps that people use to keep their glasses snuggly on thier face. My husband and I each bought a pair when we went white water rafting a few years back. I'm not sure what the name of the brand is, but they are just like the things bearzabout mentioned. They are a hollow fabric tube that the frames of your glasses slide into and your can adjust it to the tightness you desire. I think they are well worth the few bucks. I've already packed them for our trip to Universal in 12 days.

I lost a pair of glasses on Dueling Dragons...partially my fault, since I had no strap on them (was on many many coasters before without any problems).

The other problem is that the storm clouds were gathering and by the time we reached the top of the lift hill, it was absolutely pouring down rain. So as I was worried about being hit by rain at 50-60mph, I never thought to keep my glasses, and they left.

Now I take NO chances, and I keep a strap on them tight everytime I ride a coaster.

I'd probably take them completely off but I want to be able to see where I'm going, being practically blind just isn't the kind of thrill I want.
