I think this may have been discussed before but not sure. Our first house which was in Texas was haunted we are pretty sure. Lights turned on and off without anyone in the room. Things disappeared and then reappeared months later in strange places. DH heard footsteps, door close, etc all the time. I never heard anything but one night saw a black figure leaning over me while I was in bed. I was not dreaming because I had just laid down. After I asked who it was it backed up and into the closet and disappeared. Also another time something helped me install the headlight in our truck. It was a cold rainy yucky winter day. I had the little pickup in the one car garage head first. DH was at work so no one home but me. The only way I could see to replace the headlight was to take the grill out. Well the grill was attached to the frame by these plastic screws that would rip and tear when you tried to remove them. After a while I got so frustrated and was so cold I went inside to thaw out. I came out about 20 minutes later and the plastic screws had been taken out, the grill had been moved up and the screws were back in place. Now I could replace the light. Honestly, no one could have done this. My neighbors were all inside and they would have asked me first before doing this.

Now we are in a new home in another state. We sometimes hear strange things, things disappear and reappear in strange places just like the other house started. DS just called me and said he was woken up by my husband yelling his name. I figured he dreamed it but he said he was dreaming something totally different. He even got up and looked all through the house to see if he was there. I am not scared as our last ghosties were nice and helpful. I wonder if they have finally found us.

Anyone else live in a haunted house?

The house wasn't haunted, but there was a short hallway in the basement that always gave me the chills - like I had to get through it as fast as possible because there was someone watching me. After a couple of years living there, I mentioned it to my sister and mother, and they had the exact same feeling in that spot. I've never felt that in any other house I've lived in.

We had a back bedroom in that old house that made you feel like someone was watching you. One light in particular kept being turned off when I wanted it on. I finally got mad one morning and told the ghost to please not turn that light off anymore and it never did again.

Also, in our current house I have heard someone call my name and a few weeks ago saw a reflection in the window. It was at night and I was watching tv. The tv does not reflect in this set of windows but I saw someone in a blue shirt or dress walk by in the foyer which does reflect in the windows. I am not scared of it anymore if there is something.

My house is new. built in 1993 for DH and me. However we seem to have aquired a ghost. My sister, niece and I have all had our names called when no one was around. DH one night yelled at our dd to get off the bed and go to her room but there was no one there. He said he felt someone start to climb on the bed. I felt the bed shake when we were in it (DH was asleep).

Both our dd saw people when they were younger. When my older dd was 6, I was in the kitchen and she walked in and asked who the lady was on our stairs to the second floor. There was only us and my younger dd in the house at the time (I did go and check). Another time I was sitting on the sofa with my younger dd (she was about 5) and she asked whose hand she saw on the end of the sofa.

Things have been quiet for a couple of years but still occur. Currently we are missing a cordless phone and a remote that seemed to have disappeared overnight. We searched the rooms several times but can't find them.

I really think it is my mom. She died 13 years ago and lived with us for 6 months before she died (plus she owned the property before us and loved it there). One day when I was home with younger daughter we were napping on the couch. I woke up and it felt like someone was watching us. I looked to the dining room and saw my mom briefly and then she ducked around the corner. When I checked she was gone.

While nothing malevolent has happened I really wish whoever it is would stop. I startle easily and don't like it when I am uncomfortable in my own home.

i know this is going to sound crazy, but the house i grew up in, and that DH and i lived in until 2000, was definitely haunted. when i was a girl, the house always made strange noises at night-much more than the usual "settling". one morning, we woke up and the peanut butter, jelly and bread were all sitting on the kitchen counter, open. after my mom moved out and my DD was born, it seemed to get worse. DD's toys would start playing by themselves, and one night, when she was about 8 months old, DH and i were in bed asleep and she was asleep in her room. i woke up suddenly to the sound of heavy footsteps walking through the house toward us, and i couldn't shake my DH awake. i laid there shaking and waiting for a figure to appear in our bedroom doorway, as our bedroom was at the end of the hall, but the footsteps stopped at our doorway and there was no figure. and i didn't hear anything else that night, but i was wide awake until the sun came up, and DH STILL doesn't believe me. i was SO glad to move out of that house.

My parents lived in a haunted house. Lights would go on and off and even the radio they had would spontaneously come on. You would also hear strange noises, sometimes in the middle of a sunny day that sounded like something running or scurrying along the ceiling. Then my sister saw a figure of a woman in a long, prairie type dress. The house they lived in was new but you never know what happened on that land.

Honestly, I have lived in a lot of homes over my lifetime. Some of them had quirks and such we could never explain. I've never felt that was threatening or "evil" though.

My husband keeps loosing things and then finding them, but I don't think his problem is a ghost!!:rotfl2:

no so much our house being haunted as me being "haunted". Every home (townhouse, apartment, home built in 1910 and new home built by us in 2005) has had occurances. Apparently it is my Gran who died when I was 3 who likes to keep tabs on me and my family. There are way too many happenings to mention it would talk pages.

btw....just so you know according to my son if you sleep with the bedroom door closed the "ghosties" stay in the hall and don't come in at night. He has seen ghosts all his life (he is 10).

Yep. The house I grew up in (Houston) was haunted, and also some acreage we just bought.

Really, I think every place is "haunted." Just dimensions slapped one on to the other. (Parallel lives, The Other Side, etc). I mean, WE could be ghosts to THEM.

I think it's just easier for some people to break through that veil, and it's all scientific. We really know so little....

I have lived in many houses that had spirits as I was growing up. The last house, before the one we live in now, had spirits that didn't like my DH. LOL. He wears a uniform and used to keep them in the spare bedroom closet and in a certain order. I have no idea what this order is, but I never went into that closet. It would always be rearraged and pulled off the hangers. DH thought it was me but it happened once when I was in the hospital having my DS. Also one night DH and I were in bed and DD was in it with us. We had painted parts of the house that day so some things from the kitchen were moved into our room until the next day when the paint was dry. We had a cordless phone that sat up on the base. We heard it being picked up off the base and it was thrown across the room. It didn't just fall over, it was thrown a pretty good distance. DH believed me after that. Lots more things happened in that house. I am glad we moved out.:scared1:

Well, people tend to think this is silly, but one of my parents' old cats haunts their house. Mind you, she hasn't made an appearance in something like 5 years now, but she's been seen/heard/felt by lots of people at one time or another. Very sweet, protective little kitty.

I will try and dig up the old thread. It had tons of great stories in it and I do live in a haunted house.

I think my grandmom made an 'appearance' in my house when I was a teenager. She lived with us for several years and I now had her old bedroom. I heard the hallway floor creek (it always did when you walked on it), I swear my bedroom door opened and someone was watching me, then the door closed. After a few minutes of laying completely still I went into my parents room and the dog was sitting on the edge of the bed with her ears pointing straight up! When my Dad went downstairs to check things out the dog went nuts, going all over the place making a whimpering noise.

I never had anymore experiences and we moved a few years later.

A friend of mine was living in San Francisco and she said her apartment had a ghost. One night the bed started to shake and the thought it was an earthquake, but it wasn't. Finally she screamed "will you just %#$% (insert bad swear here) stop it!... and it stopped!

I love the show Ghost Hunters! They are based in RI so they tend to visit a lot of locations in Mass.

This reminds me of our own ghost cat! Ever since we moved into this house we've seen a cat. (Even my niece has seen it, and she knew nothing about it). It's always hanging out in MY room.

Of course. ;) It would be mine.

This is a new house, so I guess it was a stray or was killed during construction? It's a gray cat. Mom saw it clearly last week, sleeping on my bed next to my cat. She said it stared up at her, and that it looked like a Persian.

I also forgot to mention my sister's house. We've all had experiences there, but not often. Just off and on

We think whatever was in the house may have been attached to some antique furniture. There was an old trunk that I left with a neighbor when we left and a couple of old bedframes, really really old. We still have the bedframes so something could be attached to them.

DS also told us once when he was about 3 that the walls talked in his room. He does not remember that now so we don't know what it was.

i swear the house DH and i are living in now is haunted. we've had lights turn on and off by themselves, heard footsteps and doors opening and closing. heard the cubbard open and then slam shut on it's own. and one time we left the house with all of the blinds closed and when we came back 15 minutes later they were ALL open(and no, no one could have come in and done it. we were meeting up with BOTH sets of parents and they're the only ones who had keys and they had been waiting for us.

I've always seen spirits, everywhere I've lived they seem to seek me out. We don't have any in this house anymore, but there are a couple that hang out in the court I live on. One's a kid, did some research and he died in the street about 15 years back. Sad, sad stuff.

Havent lived in a haunted house since i was very small but-for about 3 years my office was located in a building that was part of a military hospital complex from 1939 to 1986. I have so may ghost stories i cant begin to tell them all here. I was a complete skeptic when i started working in that building-but i know what i saw heard and felt-and i now completely believe in buildings being haunted.

Wow, how did he die? How old is he? Ever think about helping him?
