Ever lived in a haunted house?

Do you ever watch Psychic Kids? I believe it's on Bio channel on Saturday nights. If you haven't, you should tune in. There are lots of kids just like him who experience some of the same things he does.

We love watching this show! Very interesting.

I have always seen spirits. I believe that they are either angels or demons who either protect and comfort or intimidate and sow doubt.

When I was a boy, every time I closed my eyes for more than a blink, hundreds of white spirits would come flying at me. I would twitch and flinch when I closed my eyes, but they would get very close then go around. I also used to see dark spirits lurking at windows outside my house. Once I locked myself in a closet with a cordless phone because I thought that someone was out there.

I firmly believe that the dark spirits were stuck outside because of the spirituality of my parents. When I moved into my own house, they decided to test me. One night right when I laid down for bed, I heard dings of my laptop starting up. As soon as the noise finished I heard the lid closing again and the little latches locking in place. I grabbed my shotgun and searched the entire house to no avail. A couple of days later, I started at one end of my house and was praying the blood of Jesus over the rooms, the windows, and the doors to protect it from the dark spirits. When I got to the living room where the laptop incident took place, I was praying and it got freezing cold in the room and I could feel the struggle taking place. I finally have peace in my home.

Another time, I was walking in the hospital SICU where I was working at the time in the middle of the night and I saw the angel of death. As soon as I realized what it was, it snapped out of view. I never heard if anyone passed that night.

Really, I think every place is "haunted." Just dimensions slapped one on to the other. (Parallel lives, The Other Side, etc). I mean, WE could be ghosts to THEM.

I think it's just easier for some people to break through that veil, and it's all scientific. We really know so little....

Finally someone with a similar idea! Most people don't get it when I try to explain. If you want to add more understanding to your theory, read Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series and take note of the SEP shield. The basic idea is that we don't see what we don't want to see.

Wow that is super scary! What did the angel of death look like?

well, I grew up in a haunted house. I always thought it was cool and loved to scare my friends with it during my many sleep overs. The ghost tortured my sister for a while till my dad yelled for his to stop. They also switched in sisters room at that point so maybe it was the room. My dad had woken up a few times to have a face in his. there was always someone upstairs walking and slamming doors, even in the middle of the day. We just got used to it and as long as he wasn't hurting us then it was good. Our cats also acted strange too, would come into a room often and find them staring into a corner like they'd been punished. I wonder how the new owners are taking it ? there have been at least 3 owners since my parents moved 7 yrs ago.

no ghosts in my current house though which I think is odd since my old house was built in the early 1900's and my house I live in now is over 200 yrs old. I know at least one person died here and it was the post office for my town until the 60's.

At my grandmothers apartment, it was haunted too. Neighbors called police on my great grandmother one day saying she had pushed her husband out the 2nd story window (which was actually 3 stories off the ground). Police came, her DH was at work and they went to the window only to find it nailed and painted shut. Same GGM also had a dead relative of hers come to her door and tell her that her ring was giving her bad luck and to give it to them and her luck would return. She gave them the ring and luck came back and nobody ever found the ring. Apartment has been cleaned out completely multiple time but never a ring. When my Grandmother was dying, she spent her last days in her parlor in a bed and her kids all came to visit with her. I slept over most nights so my Aunt could go upstairs to her DH (3 decker apartments). I never really heard anything but the day before my GM passed, my mother was sitting in with her and heard someone come in the door, no knocking so not to wake GM, she heard them walk across the kitchen and come to the parlor door. My mother turned to see who it was and it was her father. he had been dead about 15 yrs. She blinked and he was gone. I think he came to take his wife with him. I still slept there after she passed, don't remember why, but I could still hear her at night calling for water or to use the bathroom and such. I don't know how many times I brought in water to nothing. my GM and GGM were both into contacting spirits. they had tea leaves, tarot cards and a Ouija board (of which I now have in my living room on the mantle). They used them to make sure their DH's were okay when they were off in the war and to ask questions of people they knew who were gone. The board would always say they were okay and what they were doing but would never tell them where they were. I completely believe in all of it.

I also believe in past lives. for years my brother told us about his family he had when he was about 9 or 10 yrs old. His grandfather taught him how to drive and fish and they played baseball in the street with a stick. he told us his grandparents names and even where they were buried now. My brother was only about 6 when he told us all of this. When I got older, I went to the cemeteries and found the headstones for both his grandparents and for him. The freaky thing was, his name now was his name back then except first and middle were reversed. Different last name and it was not in a town where we had lived or knew anyone who had lived there. He told us a lot about his life growing up there. he doesn't remember any of it now.

I grew up in a house that I believe was haunted. I really didn't think so at the time, but I do now. We had a "bar" room, kind of like a game room but it was full of antiques, a bunch of old time cool things and there were a couple of pictures where the peoples eyes would follow you. I always felt like someone was watching us in that room. We had to go through there to get to our playroom and we would literally run. lol

I would also feel like someone was in my bedroom at night, in my closet. Sometimes I would see hands reach into my room. I would see shadows of a man & down in our basement there was an area behind a wooden door that would FREAK me out! I always felt like someone was in there.

Now, as an adult, just about every single nightmare that I have, I am in that house. Every single time & they have been pretty scary. I am convinced that if we had not moved from there, something bad would have happened.

Wow that is super scary! What did the angel of death look like?

As soon as I was aware of what I was seeing, it disappeared. The greatest impression that it left was that it was over seven feet tall, it absorbed light, and was a generally conical shape.

I bumped it back up to Page One ::yes:: . Oh, and, remember this... do not read that thread at night or when you are alone in the house.

agnes!

LOL... I started reading this thread the other night, 2am or so. I only read about 3-4 posts before I decided I should not be reading it just before going to bed. I'm glad it came back to the front page so I could finish reading it in the middle of the day. But I'm still home alone.

I don't even want to open up the second topic.... I'd probably scare the heck out of myself. I don't do good with scary stuff.

I'm really torn when it comes to the subject of ghosts, hauntings, possessions, and the like. Part of me is fascinated with the subject, and wants to find answers/closure to whether or not I truely believe. The other half thinks it is fake, tries to find excuses for people's stories & experiences, and is an overall Bill Maher-type of skeptic when it comes to the supernatural.

To answer the OP's question: Never. I have personally never seen, heard, or felt anything that led me to even question if a ghost was present. When I was a kid going to bed in a dark bedroom, of course my imagination would play games like it does with any child. Dark corners can seem like hiding places for ghosts, closets, under the bed, you name it. When I got a bit older and started getting into Stephen King novels and horror movies, that only magnified the imagination and "what-if's" of dark rooms. But now at 29-years of age and looking back, I cannot think of one incident that I could even suspect something supernatural was taking place.

So I've become a ghost skeptic to say the least. But part of me really does want to believe in a way. I usually dismiss ghost stories from confident witnesses with excuses (ex: The lights go on and off because of power surges. Items become misplaced because YOU forgot where you last put them. The "dark figure" leaning over your bed was actually a parent kissing you goodnight or coming to tuck you in, but it was too dark in the room to tell who it was. The footsteps in the hallway was someone going down the hall to the bathroom...etc) And sometimes...and PLEASE no offense to any reading who have had "experiences"...I conclude that people are looney or just seeing things. Once again, no offense.

But the question mark is raised when very logical people are 100% confident they have a ghost or have seen a spirit. Then I start to wonder if maybe I am the odd man out who isn't seeing the full picture. So I dunno. Either way, it is a fascinating subject and makes for great discussion.

I have to be honest, I don't know what I'd do if my house was haunted!! I don't do well with scary movies (although I insist on watching them) and couldn't imagine how I'd deal with freaky occurrences.

So, I've never seen a ghost or a spirit. I've heard the theory that you can see them if you're NOT afraid. Not sure if there's any truth in that.

I love the parallel universe idea and it reminds me of The Others movie with Nicole Kidman.

Although I'm a scaredy cat, I love reading about other people's amazing experiences.
