Ever had a Bad character experience?

I have a picture of Mickey with his hand on my rump...but it wasn't intentional!

I remember when I was 5 and at WDW for the first time, we were somewhere on Main Street, and Captain Hook and Mr. Smee came rolling up. They were interacting with me, and Mr. Smee grabbed me and pulled his shirt up, then down over my head! My 2 1/2 year old brother FREAKED out and started screaming bloody murder because he thought he was hurting me. :rotfl: It took a lot of ice cream to calm him down.

I've had many many good experiences. Only two not so good.

In DL at Goofys Kitchen I had gone with my elderly uncle and the characters kept passing us by. It was our first time there and I did want the autographs. I had to ask the waitress to go get me their autographs. So disappointing.

Once at CM we were taking a family picture and Donald was watching. My then 10 year old autistic daughter was looking at Donald not the photographer so Donald being Donald was acting crazy so she kept watching him. We asked Donald to stop so the photographer could get our family picture. The more we asked the crazier he got. On a positive side later he realized she was autistic and let her touch his face and really interacted with her.

I was 7 and I was waiting to get my picture with pooh. We was dancing around and turned kind of quickly just as I walked up. He caught me with his big pooh bear butt and sent me sprawling! I was fine, and pooh was very upset and made a big deal of helping me up and brushing me off, but at 7 it's hard to "turn the other cheek". My mom says I refused to visit pooh after that visit.

I love him now, but I still watch out for that "big pooh bear butt"! lol

One day I was in the little store near the Magic Carpets intently checking out sale items. Appartently Jafar walks through this store to get back stage. He must have realized I wasn't paying any attention to what was going on around me and he walked up behind me and just stood there really close. I didn't realize it so I turned around and he nearly scared the pee out of me. :scared1: I'm not very tall, but Jafar IS!

As Jafar and his handler were going through the door to backstage, the handler was laughing at me! I was laughing too though, so I guess he was laughing with me.

- If the Guests do not indicate that they see Piglet, don't ask for his autograph, or don't ask for a photo... Piglet may "gloss" over.

I don't get that, what do you mean?

We personally had a great experience at the CP and one of the characters, I think it was Tigger, hit the tables on either side of us and behind us, and not us. We mentioned it to our waiter, and we had to sit for a few minutes but he did come over for a picture and to sign the books. :)

Not joking when I say this:
At a breakfast @ 1900 Goofy grabbed a hand full of my ****. I have photo proof. I have to say if it was winnie the Pooh i might have been angry. But not goofy. I think I wanted more.

Well I am dying to know what the edited word is...lol...what did he grab?!?!

I think she means that if a table doesn't seem interested in meeting the character(s), they will skip over that table. That is why it's important to be ready if you do want to meet that character.

Pooh has always seemed a little impatient at CP, but the kids don't really notice. Even had Mickey tap his fingers at CM because my mom's camera wouldn't take. I got it on video and laugh at her every time. She's since gotten a new camera.

Somewhat inappropriate story ahead...

Not a bad experience for us but definitely a break in character. Went on a grown-ups only trip last month with some girlfriends. I was taking video for the kids (to use in their "Surprise, we're going to WDW" video), then, since one of my friends had never been, we'd jump in for a picture. I have a long strap for my camera a la tourists, but my friend had a small camera without one. Well, we were meeting Genie in Morocco, and he did the normal kisses, hugs, whatever else boy characters do to girls, and we got in our pose for the PhotoPass guy. Well, each PhotoPass photog had trouble handling my friend's camera because once they took a picture with it, they'd have to find a pocket or put it on the ground, etc. because there was no strap. Well, the photog was struggling, and I said "You need to get a strap on that thing!" Of course, I got a frog in my throat and it came out "You need to get a strap on..." The guy (Genie) started cracking up inside his big, blue head. He was shaking he was laughing so much. The pictures look pretty status quo, but I'll always know what he was thinking.

Thought I'd also give a little pictorial of bending princesses at CRT since it seems to be a hot topic. This was in May 2008, the kids' first trip, and it was a wonderful experience!!

P.S. We've somehow managed to see this Snow White every time we've been to WDW, and she's FABULOUS!! She even remembered DS and DNiece over the span of a week and remembered DS from May to December!!

If you're not up to making someone's, no matter what age, day magical...call in sick. These gals were GREAT!!

This is a funny story now that I know what really happened, but it made very uneasy for months...infact I felt kinda dirty-lol!

A few years ago, I went to DL on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. All of the characters were playing up to the holiday with extra hand kissing and flirting.

At one point we ran into Goofy. He grabbed me and dipped me down to the ground in a very very very long kiss.So long, that I was squirming to be released. His paw moved just a little too far down my back and over my butt.

My boyfriend was laughing along with some guests who were waching the scene(none of them could see where his paws were). Afterwards, I didn't say anything thinking that I must have imagined it, that the costume made him clumsy, but it made me uneasy.

About three months later, I ran into some old college friends whom I hadn't seen in years. We all attended a performing arts college togethor back East. I especially enjoyed catching up with my very tall, silly friend who told me that he was working at DisneyLand. I innocently asked him what he did there, and he started cracking up laughing, "Oh I think you know!" and winked.

ofcourse, I had to smack him but I was sooo relieved!

:lmao::rotfl2:

That sounds like something I would do.

I didn't have any overtly bad experiences. I did have some fantastic ones though. DH and I were at WDW in September, and we had a late seating at Liberty Tree Tavern. The characters were phenomenal! Chip and Dale were chasing each other around the room, Pluto was chasing his tail, and several characters came up to our table multiple times (we had been married for a whopping 24 hours at that point and were wearing the wedding ears, so we weren't hard to miss).

Our last day of the trip we were at Chef Mickey's. By this point I had sought out Pluto every chance I got, and at CM's DH told Pluto, "You know, she has a crush on you. She even bought a stuffed animal of you and has it in our bed!" Pluto then started flirting with me like crazy. I even got a few giant dog kisses. :lovestruc Oh, and at the same meal we had Goofy taking photos of us with Mickey. We had a blast!

And a sidenote.. I do feel for these characters. For work a year and a half ago, I had to spend about three hours in an Alvin and the Chipmunks costume outside in 20 degree weather. Even with it that cold, I was sweating bullets, so I can't imagine being in a costume like that in Florida!! Especially in the summer! It was also incredibly difficult to walk in the costume (which was built similarly to Chip and Dale), and seeing children was even more difficult. I got lucky and didn't step on any kids, but there were some close calls! After that experience, I'm surprised there aren't more accidents.

Maybe he thought you said "hip bump"

Posts: 232 My DD1 wasn't too sure about the characters during our Chef Mickey breakfast a few months ago. We were having her do high 5's and fist bumps instead of hugs. Goofy and Minnie gave both my daughters fist bumps. Then when Donald came around I asked him to give them fist bumps. He put his hand on his hip, and shook his finger at me. I said "oh, don't you do those" and he just walked away. My husband thought maybe it wasn't considered approporate, but I'm not sure why not. I was a little embarrased, like I had asked him to do something illegal or something!

Was it this one?

Posts: 460 Last November int he UK at Epcot, when I met Mary Poppins she was really grumpy/snotty. She wasn't very friendly at all. She also looks very snarly in the picture I got with her. I was a bit disappointed since she is one of my favorite characters and I've only met her that once.

Other than Mary Poppins, all my other character experiences have been great! ..especially Chip and Dale!

I can't say I've ever had a HORRIBLE expierence with the characters, but I wanted to share a few expierences from our trip a few weeks ago.

We did Chef Mickey's and we were one of the last tables of the night and the characters were great...except I did hear Donald talk when he yelled at me for standing up to take the picture. (he was very short so he wanted to stay sitting)...he also made my brother take his hat off for the picture. The other characters were great though and came by multiple times.

My favrotie character meeting was Alice over at Epcot...Alice is one of my favorite princesses so I freaked when I saw her! Since I was 23 I was worried she wouldn't be that into it. There was only a few people in line and one was this old man who was joking around with her and turned out to be her uncle! She was so excited to see him. When it got to be our turn she was so excited to meet us and commented on the fact that we had an extra pair of ears (we were wearing our minnie ears)...she was adorable and just so sweet.

5 minutes later we see Belle in France and I freak again because belle is my other favorite and omg I need to meet her! Well Belle just took a picture with us and sent us on our merry way, but I got to meet her so it was worth it for me

We were completely missed by Eeeyore at CP but Tigger was WONDERFUL, giving kisses and dancing with me and came over twice!

And last, when we were watching the parade, a little girl across from me was dressed as snow white and when snow white came down the street she beelined it for that little girl, so excited that they were dressed alike and I'm pretty sure that must have made that little girls year. I could hear her yelling to her mom 'She noticed me!!!" I was almost in tears.

We have never had a bad experience with characters. I remember once at Chef Mickeys getting my picture taken with Goofy right after his big dance number. He put his arm around me and I could feel the arm shaking from exertion. He had put everything he had into that dance number and now he had to get his photo taken with a bunch of us tourists. My respect for the characters went through the roof after that.

Another time we were getting a photo done with Jasmine and Alladin. Needless to say Jasmine's top is a little small. I figure she wouldn't want all these strange men touching her naked back so I asked her where I should put my hand. She just smiled and said I was a very polite sultan and took my arm and rested her arm on mine. If I had to guess she probably gets touched by kids and older pervs as well.

The CM's don't get paid very well and most go way out of their way to make our trips magical. If one is having a bad day I like to think I would just let it go.

The closest was at 'Ohana many years ago. Goofy was playfully sparring with a waiter close to where we were walking. DS was only about three and walked behind Goofy before I could stop him. Goofy stepped backward and DS was knocked to the floor. This was of course in no way Goofy's fault because they simply can't see.

However Goofy scooped him up and ran through the restaurant with him several times while acting like the waiter was the one who caused the problem. I was afraid that DS would cry but he was too much in shock I think!

I didn't think this was bad but the friend that was with me said it "ruined the magic".

I was at DisneyLand while I was in college and I was wearing my sorority letters tee shirt while at the park. Out of the blue Brer Rabbit came running up to me and grabbed my hand. I said "What is it Brer Rabbit?" Brer Rabbit was squeezing my hand in a very familiar sequence...suddenly I realized that Brer Rabbit was a member of my Sorority!!!:lmao: Not someone from my school, but a member from another school. I was laughing and my friend who was with me asked what I was laughing at and I told her that Brer Rabbit was an Alpha Phi!!! :rotfl: Brer Rabbit then brought me over to a few other characters, Smee being one...who was ALSO a member of our sorority!:rotfl2: It was an odd mix of characters in one place!

I thought it was absolutely hilarious and also kind of neat that Brer Rabbit was a member of the sisterhood! Smee was just too funny. My friend thought it wasn't right to "break character" I think she was just annoyed b/c she hadn't worn her letters that day and didn't the get the special attention from the characters!;) None of the characters spoke once. Just the handshake and high fives!
