Ever get the pre-vacation jitters?

We're one day away from our 10 day trip to Florida! I'll be working remotely through most of it, but we'll be visiting Miami, as well as Orlando -- staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge (the first deluxe stay for DH and I!) :cool1: I'm excited, but man do I have THE JITTERS. It seem like there is a mountain of work to finish before we go -- and I do not feel ready!

Here's two tips that I'm keeping in mind to deal with my butterflies:

1) Deal with one thing at a time. I've made a to-do list, and it's awesome to see the list get smaller as we get closer to our departure!

2) Repeat the mantra: "No biggie." I recently read something that stuck with me: most things are only an issue if you think they are. So if I don't get to everything on my list? No biggie. If I feel like I'm running out o time? No biggie. Feeling stressed and anxious? No biggie. I got this, the world will continue to turn if I don't finish everything, and we're going to have a great time.

Do you ever get the pre-vacation jitters? How do you deal with them?

I get anxious/excited, but not nervous. I plan the crap out of everything I do in regards to my WDW vacations, so I'm prepared for just about anything. I also make list upon list of things leading up to departure, packing lists, to-do lists by day for the few weeks leading up to leaving, etc... That definitely helps because I think most jitters come from unknowns or fear of forgetting. I just re-use my lists from trip to trip so I don't even have to think about it anymore really.

I get those pre-vaca jitters, but mine are more associated with my health. I'm always concerned that something may happen and I'll end up in the hospital or walking with a cane or something like that. Last year I spent six days in the hospital just three days after we returned from our December trip. I'm definitely not healthy for my age.

I've barely been able to sleep this week (we leave tomorrow) so yes! I've been planning for a year but I still worry that I messed up something or I'll forget something! But we'll be in Disney, so it will be wonderful regardless!

I always get so nervous when I travel to where I feel sick at times lol! I always think I am forgetting something or something will go wrong. I have to deep clean my house before I leave because there is nothing worse than coming home to a messy house IMO. I also stress about leaving my animals and I seem to have the worst luck when I travel (delays, lost baggage, etc). But it all goes away once I get there.

I do! I always seem to get sick right around the time we leave or on vacation! So I always worry about that happening, and then I know the stress from worrying just makes me more likely to get sick...

It used to be I would get excited, but not nervous. I've been going to Disney World my entire life. I know where things are, I know what to expect most of the time.

However, this upcoming trip will be the first with our daughters, ages 5 and 18 months (when we go). It'll be their first time on a plane and really their first time taking any sort of vacation. So yeah, I'm nervous this time round, and the vacation isn't even until November!

I already have the jitters and I won't be heading out until July 15th. Never concerned with our actual Disney plans, but my two biggest worries are illness, and tropical systems. That said, I'm praying my way to our vacay.

I always get nervous before a vacation! Usually about 3 days out I go into full out "panic mode" LOL...If we are flying there it is normally 10x worse that my PCP usually writes be a script for either xanex or valium, lol. Although now I don't have to worry about flying because I have made it pretty clear to my hubby that flying is the devil, lol, and I don't want to be caught in some tin can death trap 30,000 feet in the air, lol. We now drive to most of our trips, including Disney and we live in NJ, lol. I still get anxious but its mostly because I want to make sure we don't forget anything or that the car we are driving down is in good condition to drive that far. I am usually super nervous the morning that we leave, but a few hours into the drive and I calm down a bit. I have to remind myself to breathe, lol. Once we hit our middle of the trip hotel stay in SC though the jitters are usually gone bc at that point I know we are only about 6 hours away from our final destination, LOL

We drive from MA; I have a family of non flyers. I always breathe a sigh of relief when we check into our hotel in SC.

LoL I am glad I am not the only 1! I love the SC hotels, lol, the people that work them are so friendly and nice...they must get a ton of people stay at their hotel overnight while traveling to Disney bc on our last 2 trips they made a point of telling me you are only 6 hours away now, LOL...They must think people that drive to Disney from up north are crazy bc in 2 hours you can be there or in pretty much 2 days you can be there, lol...my family can never understand y we just don't fly, lol...I say bc I'm the mom and I don't fly so everyone else has to drive, LOL

I always get pre-vacation jitters.

A lot centers around hoping that certain things pan out. With all of my vacations something doesn't go according to plan but there is obviously a difference between minor or major issues.

Like if I'm flying that there are no delays (usually not an issue with my home airport but I worry more about the airport when I'm coming home-we try for non-stop whenever we can).

Or if driving that we all get along in the car (usually not an issue) and that there are no problems (like being involved in a 3 car hit and run fender bender in the midst of the normal but terrible atlanta traffic like the last time we took a long road trip and we were on the way home-we were the very front car but it did total out our luggage rack that was hitched to the suv luckily no luggage was damaged).

The other part of the pre-vacation jitters are just being too excited and trying to distract my mind. That's really hard especially if you've been planning the trip for a long time. My Disney trip will be over 2 years of planning (started planning August 2015 going September 2017) :Pinkbounc

Yes the week before I'm more nervous than excited. I'm a creative worrier so I'll worry about forgetting something (despite lists), worry about delayed flights, lost luggage, etc etc. :)

It doesn't matter where we are going on vacation, I always get pre-vacation jitters. It could be WDW, Mexico, a cruise, etc. The destination doesn't matter.

I am the same way. I hate that feeling too. It starts about 2 or 3 weeks out. I'm always worried about forgetting something and leaving our pet behind. It really is a terrible feeling. There's no way to calm myself down either.

Yes I worry about work stuff and the pets. 9 days to go and I have my work list started. I alternate between "I've got this" and "there's too much", along with hoping nothing else major comes up and no one wants to close on a real estate transaction that week.

I am also concerned about our early flight. We'll probably leave home around 2 am or so! And need to pack up cats to take to SIL, along with all of our other stuff. I'm worried we won't get around as early as I'd like. Also a little worried they will get loose and run off, though I'm sure she'll be very vigilant. I would head to her house the night before (she's an hour closer to the airport), but DD14 will just be getting back from a choir trip and would prefer to be in her own bed that half-a-night.

We leave in the morning, and I started getting jittery yesterday. Seems like there is a lot to do and not enough time to get it done, but it will work out somehow. We are driving, so on our own schedule, and that helps alot. Plus, it doesn't matter how we pack.

We leave a week tomorrow and I'm ALREADY stressing out. Worrying about forgetting something, the weather, handovers at work,......get me to my happy place!!!!!

I've been having nightmares about my upcoming trip for WEEKS. I get anxiety about flying. I haven't had good experiences coming back from Florida the past 4 trips? maybe even more. I've been having nightmares that I forgot something, or we ended up going to the wrong park that day (my friend didn't buy park hopper so i was panicking about fast passes in the dreams) Oh boy. And we still have over a week to go...
