Thinking of doing SW from STL to MCO then on the way back do AirTran.
Because of price and better flight times.

Anyone book two individual one way flights? and have any thoughts of this?

I've done that many times. In my case we usually do one way Jetblue one way Southwest based on who has the better prices/times.

Id recommend it. :thumbsup2

I do this quite often ... no problems at all ... Actually since airtran and SW are merging, it may be the same airline by the time you fly :)

Yes, we've done this too. We went Continental and returned Southwest for exactly the reasons you are - convenient flight times. :)

We had no problems. Everything went very smoothly.

Many, many times. It's not a problem. We use to fly SW down and Jetblue or Airtran home. Now we stick to Jetblue exclusively, but I never buy round trips, I only buy 2 one ways. I'm more of an a la carte person you could say. SW stopped flying non-stop out of Dulles, so I don't fly them anymore and airtran started charging for luggage along wtih United (both non-stops), but I stopped using them too. So I'm a Jetblue all the way person now. For you the nice part of using SW is the flexibility to change your flight if you need to. That part I do miss with SW. But I love my jetblue.

I am trying this for the first time in April. I had some credits with Airtran so we are flying to MCO that way. But I prefer Jetblue flight times so we are flying home Jetblue.

The days of round trip airfare being a LOT cheaper than booking two one way trips are long gone. I almost always book separately for going and coming home, even if on the same airline. Depends on pricing and what is available and when it is available.
