We've never utilized extra magiv hours, but will this year. On 7/2 Mk is open until 12 am. Is that with the Extra Magic Hours or is MK open for another 3 hours after that? And is it really crowded during those hours? TIA

That is correct....evening EMH means the park is open to resort guests for three hours past the "official" closing time.
You an bet that the MK will be VERY crowded all day on July 2, even into EMH time. It's the Sunday night of the long July 4 Holiday weekend.

True. Now that you mention it..I forgot about it being that close to July 4th. Are the other parks as crowded around there? I don't think we've ever been there over the 4th. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, they are...it's the most crowded week of the summer and one of the two or three most crowded weeks of the year.

MK was MANIC last summer on the 2nd and 3rd of July - we weren't there for full days - we went for Spectro on Sat 2nd (packed but fun!) after going to Chef Mickeys; we went again to MK on 3rd from about 5pm on and stayed to see the fireworks and it was MANIC again (but great, lol)! Apparently it was a lot more crowded again on July 4th, unsurprisingly but we went to Animal Kingdom that day instead and it was wonderful. At one stage we were walking the streets of Africa almost as if we had the place to ourselves - well it *seemed* that way anyway, it was so relaxing and we had loads of room to breathe (except for the furnace like temperatures :teeth: ) and we didn't get there early. So, as you asked about other parks, I'd highly recommend AK if you have hoppers, and perhaps then go later in the day to MK just to see the fireworks - bear in mind they will have July 4th fireworks on the night of the 3rd AND 4th of July - identical shows (and amazing!). But, crowded or not, you really don't want to miss those July 4th (and 3rd) fireworks - I got quite emotional and patriotic and I'm not even American :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Actually my 11 year old son said "these are so special Mom, I think I'd cry if I was American" - aw! :goodvibes

If you have a few days to play around with, I wanted to say we were also in MK on Tuesday 28th June and it was wonderful. We got there early and nothing had more than a 5-10 minute wait until about 11am when it started to fill up but never became unbearably crowded. Like a whole different experience to the crowds during the first few days of July. Good luck!

That's a cute story about your son and the fireworks. How sweet! :goodvibes

And who's the cuite with Eeyore? I have a 10 yo DD and a 2.5 yo DD too and it reminds me of an almost exact picture I took last year!

On June 27 we'r doing Epcot.
On June 29 we're doing MGM and then MK around 5pm on.
On July 2nd we're doing AK and then MK around 4 and on.

On the days in between my older DD has the Albatross Cruise and Grand ADventure in Cooking and we're all just going to hang out those days and recoup, swim, etc. July 1st we're moving from BCV to OKW so that day may be out. We are leaving on the 5th, but want a day or two before we leave to unwind. Last year we did 4 days at SSR and the 3 day Eonder cruise and we were so exhausted. My 2 yo took 4 hours naps every day for a week when we got home!

So I think the only day we can play with besides July 2 is July 1st. What's the difference between the 4th of July fireworks and the regular ones? Thanks!

Pam,
Sounds like you'll have a great time and you're right to build in time to chill out. That's my DD at 15 months in my sig - she fell in love with Eeyore. She might look innocent but she had a tight grip of his hand I can tell ya. :teeth:

If you CAN get into MK on July 3rd of 4th it will be worth it. Here's a link to photos of last year's fireworks (not MY photos I hasten to add).....
