Even with Blisters and Bad Hair, Disney is Still Magical! A Sept. 2014 TR -Updated 5/13

Man child.... I am roaring with laughter! Poor kid! :lmao: she is still adorable!

What a great update! we loved BOG but we had dinner there. oops got ahead of myself there..:scratchin

ugh RAIN!!! I still can't believe all the rain!!!!

Mine train is the BEST!!! :thumbsup2

your hair looks fine.. Sorry you had a bad red headed CM. Boo on her! But you did have a really pretty Belle!!

Joining in! Just got all caught up. Love seeing fellow Wisconsin people with the same Disney obsession as us :) We just missed you as we were there 9/20-9/27!

Subscribed. Your family is too cute!!! Love "the bearded lady" and the mermaid haha.

Clare, great updates again.

Aw, thanks!

I enjoy Jungle Cruise and Tiki is a good place to cool off. So happy that Maura loved Splash Mountain...way to go sweetie.

We were so glad she loved it! She got almost obsessive about it, actually.

I'm glad you enjoyed lunch at BOG. We ended up skipping out on our ADR, but hope to do it next time. I didn't care for the grey stuff at all, but LOVED the chocolate cupcake.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by BOG. I had just heard such mixed reviews, but am so glad we tried it. I can see how the grey stuff is sort of an acquired taste. I loved both cupcakes!

What a sweet meet with Ariel. And shame on the drill seargent at Enchanted Tales with Belle. :headache:

I know, right? That's the kind of job where ther is no excuse for that. I know kids can be frustrating at times, but they are kids!

Great photopass pictures. I love that they made videos out of them...so cool.

I loved that too! It was such a fun surprise!

Can't wait to hear about swim time.

It's coming soon, hopefully tonight or tomorrow night.

Awwww, I love your little costume less pirate and the princesses. You're one of the best moms, I love the ones that just let the kids be kids. <3

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm all for letting them be kids since they are growing up way too fast!

I am loving your trip report!
Every picture of your lovely "bearded man child" has got me laughing so hard that I woke up my sleeping husband!:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Hah! I love this! :rotfl2: And I still laugh every time I look at the pics.

Oh, please tell me her makeup stayed on even after a rainstorm and pool time!
Thanks for the much needed laugh, and i look forward to more of your sweet familiy's adventures.:)

I'm sad to say, as you will see, the makeup didn't make it through swimming. :worried: Glad I could provide a laugh. I'll have more coming soon!

I adore the terrible jokes on JC! We are the awful group who laugh too loudly on that ride ;)

Yep, that was us!

Little Maura looks too cute in the photo before the big drop on SM. I'm glad she liked the ride.

I was so glad she liked it too! She loved the characters and talked about them non-stop the rest of the day. And she tells anyone she meets that she went on it.

I'm so happy you all enjoyed SDMT! I'm with Lucy on wanting to ride again right away, and I haven't ridden it yet! Lucy at the table at BoG is one to keep for teenage blackmail; too funny.

Yeah, the Mine Train was so much fun! And yes, that picture will definitely come out in her teenage years!

Your lunch looks great! BoG is on our wish lost for next year so I'm glad to see folks enjoying it! You guys got great PP Photos! I'm especially a fan of the one with the girls where Lucy is looking quite pirate-y! And those adorable magic shots, very sweet. Don't worry about the floppy hair; as a native to south Florida I can assure you we all go through it!

BOG was delish. Can't wait to go back! Yes, we are very happy with how our PP pics turned out. Magic shots are so much fun! As for my hair, eh, it was frustrating, but I couldn't dwell on it too much. II was at Disney! And, I'm sorry for you south Floridians who have to deal with it year round!

I've never seen a hidden Mickey like that! It's usually just the silhouette, very cool find! Glad seeing Ariel was a good visit. I love to when the charterers are really interactive and "on."

That HM was really cool! We usually only find the silhouette ones too, so that one was fun to see. Ariel was great. The meets are so much better when you can tell the characters are having just as much fun as you!

ETWB looks so fun! I know I'm going to be the terrible adult overly excited to participate! Sorry to hear about your drill sergeant CM though; some people are too controlling for their own good, or for the good of others!

They do have parts for adults, too! So make sure to volunteer! Yeah, the drill sergeant was a drag, but thankfully, the kids didn't seem to notice.

Gotta love 5 minute Florida down pours! Lol!

They are actually kind of fun sometimes. My kids now call them "Florida Storms." Even if lightly sprinkles here for 5 minutes, it's a Florida Storm

Man child.... I am roaring with laughter! Poor kid! :lmao: she is still adorable!

Thanks! It was hard to walk with her and not laugh. She is still cute, though.

What a great update! we loved BOG but we had dinner there. oops got ahead of myself there..:scratchin

Thanks! And yeah, we loved our lunch! Such a cool place. Now I have your update to look forward to! :)

ugh RAIN!!! I still can't believe all the rain!!!!

That was our only rain the whole week, except it might have rained at night a couple times. We couldn't believe it!

Mine train is the BEST!!! :thumbsup2

So much fun!

your hair looks fine.. Sorry you had a bad red headed CM. Boo on her! But you did have a really pretty Belle!!

Thanks about the hair. I dealt with it. Things could have been worse. And yeah, the CM was a crab, but Belle made up for it. She was very pretty. Something about her reminded me of Anna Kendrick.

Joining in! Just got all caught up. Love seeing fellow Wisconsin people with the same Disney obsession as us :) We just missed you as we were there 9/20-9/27!

Welcome and thanks for joining! Yes, we have the obsession. Jason doesn't admit it, but he does. What part of the state are you in? And sorry we missed you! You arrived the day we left Florida.

Subscribed. Your family is too cute!!! Love "the bearded lady" and the mermaid haha.

Welcome! And thank you. My family is pretty cute, and crazy!

Awww, "dirty old man" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I must say, that is an impressive make-up job on Lucy! While Maura looks so sweet with her pretty blue eyes :rotfl: what a contrast between the two of them!

Haha, I was also mad about having to share my Master's cupcake! :snooty: at least we know for next time :thumbsup2

Oh cool, I didn't get a chance to do Enchanted Tales With Belle, I've heard good things though, apparently something cool is supposed to happen with the mirror/door at the beginning ?!

And I'm so glad Lucy got to be Chip! I just can't get over how funny it is that in most of your MK photos for the day, she's in normal clothes, but sporting a great amount of facial hair! :lmao: Great updates! :thumbsup2

They really did a great job and yes, different personalities but so fitting for each one!

Haha, I was also mad about having to share my Master's cupcake! :snooty: at least we know for next time :thumbsup2

I know! Next time I'm having it all to myself.

Oh cool, I didn't get a chance to do Enchanted Tales With Belle, I've heard good things though, apparently something cool is supposed to happen with the mirror/door at the beginning ?!

It was fun. And yes, the mirror that you kind of see in one of the pictures (it's blurry), stretches out and turns into a doorway! So cool!

And I'm so glad Lucy got to be Chip! I just can't get over how funny it is that in most of your MK photos for the day, she's in normal clothes, but sporting a great amount of facial hair! :lmao: Great updates! :thumbsup2

I was glad she got picked for a part too. She would have been crushed if she wasn't. And yes, her outfit is, well, interesting if nothing else! :rotfl2:

Alright, it's been a while. Last week was busy. I love Halloween and we had a lot of stuff going on. Also, some sad news in our school district, the principal of our middle school passed away last week after choking on a piece of pizza while playing with his kids. :( It was so sad and though I didn't know him, I helped out at his memorial service. He really sounded like a great guy and I'm very sad my kids will never get to experience his leadership. But my heart breaks for his wife and 3 young kids, all under 6.

On a happier note, let's get back to Disney and see if the man-child's make-up fared through pool time. We got back to CBR and were greeted by this in our room.

We had THE best Mousekeepers. They re-arranged the animals every day, and of course the girls were convinced that they animals were running around and being naughty while we were at the park. They got such a kick out of it and like good parents, we played to the magic and yelled at the animals for causing such mischief.

You can see Lucy in the background of one of the pictures by the sink. She was washing her face because she was worried about getting the pool dirty with her makeup. She's such a good girl!

We headed down to the Fuents del Moro pool for some swimming! Maura the Mermaid isn't as clean-conscious as you'll see and there was no way she was washing off her make-up!

Some swimming shots. That's Maura on the steps in the life jacket and Jason and Lucy are in the water.

Some action shots.

After swimming for about an hour, we re-filled our mugs and headed back to the room to get ready to spend some more time at MK. They had EMH that night, so we thought we'd get a little more bang for our buck! We had to stop for a fountain pic, though.

We saw some of the famous Disney Ducks on our walk back.

Another costume change later, and we headed back out. This was Lucy's 4th outfit of the day!

On the monorail from the TTC, Maura felt the need to express her dissatisfaction with the odor on the monorail again. I don't know what it is with her and the stinky monorail.

Once we got back into the MK, the sun had set and everything was lit up. We were able to stop at the front this time for some PP shots.

Once through the front gates, Jason and I wanted to take a little pit stop into the Town Square Theater. I had heard a rumor that Mickey the Magician sometimes talked and we needed to see for ourselves. We didn't dare tell the girls, in case it was just "regular" Magician Mickey. They were excited just to see Mickey. The line was short, and we only waited about 15 minutes. The girls were loving all the posters on the walls featuring Mickey and his tricks and there was a video playing of the ball-under-cup trick that kept them enthralled.

After the short wait, we were let into the room. There were about 2 families in front of us in the room, and lo and behold, MICKEY TALKED!!!!!! Lucy especially got so wide eyed and a HUGE smile spread across her face. She got all giggly and nervous and whispered to us "Mommy, and Daddy, Mickey is talking!" Maura was just staring in disbelief. This is one of the many things I love about Disney. This moment was so magical for our girls. They looks on their faces were priceless, but of course I didn't take a picture, like a good mom.

Finally it was our turn to talk to the Boss himself, and what do my we-never-shut-up-ever-even-when-you-threaten-us-with-punishment loud mouths do? THEY CLAM UP! They were rendered speechless. Mickey asked us where we were from and you'd think someone asked them where to find plutonium. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Jason answered for them "Milwaukee" and Mickey said that was a great place. After the initial shock, they were able to regain their composure and answer some of his questions and talk to him. He asked if they were having fun, how long have we been here, and they told him they liked his magic tricks. After some small talk, we finally got some pictures with Mickey.

Lucy's face says it all

We all left the theater with huge smiles on our faces. I think if we would have told the kids the trip was over and we had to leave, they would have been okay with that, because holy cow, we just TALKED to Mickey. This was for sure a highlight of the trip.

We headed back to Tomorrowland, as Jason and Lucy wanted to check out the wait for Space Mountain. They were both itching to ride it. We got there and no line! Oh, but the ride was down. They decided to stick it out and wait for a while. Maura and I left them to wait and went to check out the dance party that was happening in the middle of Tomorrowland. The Incredibles were out dancing so we joined in for a bit. Maura loves to dance but was a bit intimidated by the characters. Probably because she didn't expect them to be there.

We had fun dancing for about 10 minutes, and then I told Maura I'd take her on the People Mover. She'd never been on it before, but when I told her we got to go through Space Mountain, she got concerned and I had to assure her we wouldn't be on the actual ride, we'd just see it. We walked right on and she really liked it!

After a few minutes on the ride, it stopped. And there we sat for about 15 minutes. I texted Jason to see if they had gotten on the ride yet, and they had and were going back for a second round. I told him we were stuck now so we'd meet them after.

It was actually really pleasant sitting there, watching Tomorrowland in the warm summer breeze. Maura was a little concerned about being stuck there forever, but she never got panicky. After a while we started moving, finished our ride, and went to find Jason and Lucy. Once we found them, Lucy wanted to ride SM AGAIN, so I took a turn with her this time. Unfortunately, the ride camera wasn't working when I went, so I only have the picture Lucy and Jason took.

After Lucy and I rode SM, we decided we needed a snack, since we hadn't really eaten dinner after our late lunch. We were right by the place in Tomorrowland where you can get Mickey pretzels, so I got one of those, and a coke slush/icee thing. Jason saw my pretzel and needed one too, so he went to purchase his, and they told him he could have it and to have a great night! What a great bit of pixie dust! We gave the CM who gave it to him one of our thank you cards, and she was so excited and happy to have it! She said "I love my job!" It made us feel good to make her feel so good.

I'll admit, I have no more pictures from this day. I'll try to wrap it up quickly. We had FP+ for BTMRR, but the fireworks were about to start, and the girls had never seen Tink fly. We stopped to watch while we were walking over to Frontierland. Well, Tink flew that night. The girls were in awe and I of course teared up like a fool. In general, I'm not a crier. I didn't cry at my wedding, when my kids were born, at my grandma's funeral last year, but leave it to Disney to make the water works start. It was mostly seeing my kids so excited and happy, but I definitely got teared up.

Wishes was fantastic as always, and after it was over, we headed over to use out FP+. It was Maura's first time on BTMRR, and much like Splash earlier in the day, she was nervous. Once over the first drop though, she was having a glorious time and was laughing and yelling. She said she couldn't wait to do it again.

It was getting late and we had an early morning, so we started heading back to the front of the park via Liberty Square. What was there trying to lure us in? Haunted Mansion of course! So, much to the girls chagrin, we made them get in line . They were scared, but it's my favorite ride, there was no line, and we were going on. They kept their eyes closed, but admitted it wasn't that bad. I coaxed Maura into watching most of it and she LOVED the hitch hiking ghost who took our heads and switched them! She couldn't get over how they did it.

After HM, we headed back to the front. We had to take the ferry back as the monorail was closed. We hopped on the boat, got to our car, was back at CBR in no time. We quickly showered and hit the sheets. We were off to AK in the morning!

Yay!! Great update! I love your stuffed animal shenanigans; mousekeeping is great. But the best is how excite your girls get for the magical stuff. I love that they really believe; you've done something right as far as I'm concerned!

CBR looks lovely. We're booked there for sept. 2015 but might switch... That photo of the girls by the fountain is adorable.

Love the PP shots in front of MK and with Mickey. Again, I love that the girls were so floored Mickey was talking :pixiedust:

I feel like every time I ride the people lover it breaks down. Glad you had a good view though! An Lucy got to ride SM 3 times! She's a daredevil!

I love the CM thank you notes; we've done it for years! It's nice to spread the gratitude I think!

Sounds like you guys had a super fun night. Lots of magic for your little ladies; that's what a Disney vacation is all about!!

PHEW! I'm not the only one who travels with more stuffed animals then ANYTHING ELSE!!!

Yes love the antics the animals get into while your gone!!!

Not such a bad ride to get stuck on. No song ringing into your noggin over and over awesome scenery all around! :thumbsup2 well unless you were in the part of Space mountain.. then that would drive me nuts. :lmao:

The pool looks AMAZING!

Aw, thanks. I hope we have. And this is why we keep going back to Disney. When some of the magic isn't so magical, we'll go somewhere else, but for now, I love watching them at Disney.

It is seriously such a beautiful resort. It looks pretty , it smells good, the music is fun and the pool is amazing.

Mickey talking was truly magical for them.

I feel like every time I ride the people lover it breaks down. Glad you had a good view though! An Lucy got to ride SM 3 times! She's a daredevil!

It was actually a lot of fun being stuck on the People Mover. It was such a great night out and yes, the view was spectacular. Lucy would ride SM over and over and over. She loves it!

I love the CM thank you notes; we've done it for years! It's nice to spread the gratitude I think!

I read about the TY notes on here and was so glad we did it. It clearly made the CM who gave us the pretzel's night, and it's nice to give some of the magic/pixie dust back.

Sounds like you guys had a super fun night. Lots of magic for your little ladies; that's what a Disney vacation is all about!!

It really is. It was a great first park day for sure.

PHEW! I'm not the only one who travels with more stuffed animals then ANYTHING ELSE!!!

No, no you're not. We had at least 30 with us and they wanted to bring more! Plus that's pretty much all they got for souveniers so we came home with more!

Yes love the antics the animals get into while your gone!!!

It's so fun. I like the towel animals, but what they do with our stuffies is much more entertaining!

Not such a bad ride to get stuck on. No song ringing into your noggin over and over awesome scenery all around! :thumbsup2 well unless you were in the part of Space mountain.. then that would drive me nuts. :lmao:

No, we were good! The 2 of us had a lot of fun sitting there.

The pool looks AMAZING!

It is. I get all giddy whenever I see it.

Caught up again, Clare.

I LOVE the animals all over the bed. I love when the CM's give you that little extra "magic."

Pool time looks fun.

Maura cracks me up with holding her nose on the monorail. I do that because we always get stuck on it, not becasue it smells. :rotfl:

I like the photopass pictures in front of the station.

I've yet to see the talking Mickey. I'm not sure I want to. But I love your girls reaction to the whole thing...priceless.

As Mo said, getting stuck on the People Mover is a better alternative to an hour on Pirates or 5 minutes on It's A Small World.

Caught up again, Clare.

Yay! I think I finally caught up with yours too!:)

I LOVE the animals all over the bed. I love when the CM's give you that little extra "magic."

It's the best. So much fun to come back to and the girls get so excited about it.

Pool time looks fun.

Always! It's such a great pool.

Maura cracks me up with holding her nose on the monorail. I do that because we always get stuck on it, not becasue it smells. :rotfl:

She's crazy! She'll still talk about that sometimes. How the monorail is stinky. I think it's the greasy/industrial smell?

I like the photopass pictures in front of the station.

They turned out really well! It's so pretty lit up at night.

I've yet to see the talking Mickey. I'm not sure I want to. But I love your girls reaction to the whole thing...priceless.

He was actually really fun. I wasn't sure what to think, or if he'd just be saying generic answers, but it must work somewhat like Laugh Floor or Turtle Talk. They had to have been able to see who he was talking to.

As Mo said, getting stuck on the People Mover is a better alternative to an hour on Pirates or 5 minutes on It's A Small World.

OMG, absolutely better than getting stuck on IASW especially! Haunted Mansion maybe I could handle, though.;)

Alright, after a sort of good night's sleep, we were up early. Olaf called us at 7:30 and told us to get moving! Well, in his own way. I believe the kids showered in the morning, but Jason and I just had to get some clothes on. Well, I did. Jason is a primper. I can be ready to walk out the door, and have the kids ready usually in 30 minutes. When we're waiting on him, it's more like an hour. I guess he has a lot of man-scaping to do.

We were off to Animal Kingdom this morning and had to be there by 9:00, as we were meeting Jason's dad, step-mom, and his brother's family. They all live in Florida and were going to meet us for the day. We'd see them later in the week too, after Disney, but thought it would be fun to meet them too. It turned out to be fun, but we realized how much faster we move when it's just the 4 of us!

Anyway, enough chit-chat. We arrived, parked, and took the tram to the gates and it was about 9:05. Not bad! Jason's dad and step mom were already there. They only live about 75 minutes from Disney, but for some reason, they think it takes longer to get there. They had left their house before 7am, so had been there awhile.

Lucy had to get a picture to show she was ready to go.

We knew Jason's dad and step mom were there, as they had texted us. We started walking to the gates to meet them, but before we could even go in, we had to stop for this guy.

The girls love him. They refer to him as "Rafiki with the blue bootie." Every time they see the mandrill at out zoo, they yell "Rafiki, we love you." And then ask me where his blue bootie is. They're nuts.

We found Jason's dad while we were meeting Rafiki. We said our hellos and just about then Jason's brother Chris and his family were arriving. We headed over to Expedition Everest right away. We had FP+, but wanted to be sure Jason's dad got to ride, since he loves roller coasters and had never been on it. Looks like Lucy's tall enough!

She was actually tall enough in 2012 and rode it then, but she just needed to prove it again. Maura, not so much. Hopefully next year!

I actually got to ride with Jason! Lucy's cousin Chloe was there and they wanted to ride together, so we said have at it! We rarely get to ride together, so it was nice. I didn't brave any photos on the ride. I really just wanted to enjoy it. Here's our PP photos, though.

Jason and I, and that's his dad and our SIL behind us.

Lucy and Chloe:

Lucy's such a dare devil. Totally our kid!

I love EE. It's such a great ride. I actually saw the Yeti this time. I know he doesn't do his awesome animatronic business anymore, but last time I rode, I didn't even see him. I found him this time around, though. Of course that ride did nothing kind to my hair.

We took a pit stop and Maura and Grandpa had some fun with his hat.

We don't see them too often, so it's always a happy reunion when we do. We stopped for some PP pics in front of Tree of Life. I have to say, usually I love AK, but with all the refurbs going on, I was not so impressed this trip. There was a refurb wall around the whole middle of the park so getting a good picture of TOL was impossible. We wanted some because the whole family was there, but they kind of suck.

Also it's really hard to get 10 people to all look at the camera at the same time.

Also notice the mermaid has refused to wash her make up off. It's still going strong! Thankfully the man child makes no more appearances this trip.

We had FP+ for the Safari, so we went and got in line for that. The rest of the family got in the standby line. The wait was only posted at about 30 minutes, so that didn't seem so bad. We got up to the front quickly, and then when we are about 2 safari busses from the front, we came to a stand still for a good 15 minutes. No busses were coming or going. Turns out an addax and some giraffes were taking their sweet time crossing the road and holding up traffic.

Finally, we were on and we had a really nice safari. Maura LOVES giraffes and was in pure heaven being so close to them. She was grinning from ear to ear. I put our long lens on the camera and actually got some really nice shots! Probably because we weren't moving very fast as the giraffes were still all over the road.

More Safari pics

This is one of the guys who was causing all the trouble I think and blocking the road.

The real Rafiki. Mr. Blue Bootie himself. Had to get a picture of him.

Elephants

Flamingos

Cheetahs. They were sleepy.

Zebras

And an addax. This is the guy who was mostly responsible for the hold up. He held us up a bit too. We didn't really care though. More time to look at the animals!

We didn't see the lions. It was sad, but it was already so stinking hot, I don't blame them for looking for cooler ground.

We had a great safari. Our guide was really friendly and very informative. Once we got off, we knew we'd have to wait for the rest of our family for a bit. Since they were in standby, they also got delayed due to the animals on the road. We went over to the Pangiani Trail. The girls wanted to see the naked mole rats. They love them even though the mole rats are kind of hideous. The girls have a soft spot for them, though. It was pretty crowded on the trail by the gorillas as everyone was looking for the baby. He was out there, but I couldn't get a good picture. This is all I got from the trail.

THis is the mom holding the baby gorilla. You can't see him at all.

And this was the best pic I could get of the TOL with all the construction.

And guess what? Only half of the trail was open because of the refurb so guess what? NO NAKED MOLE RATS!!!!! The kids were disappointed, but they know we'll see them next time. We can go to Chicago too if we want to see them. Both zoos there have them.

We got a text from Jason's brother saying they had just gotten off the safari, so we went to the exit to meet them. THere was a gift shop there selling lots of cute safari stuffed animals. The girls had money and gift cards burning holes in their pockets, so they each decided on a purchase. Because as you can see, we need some more stuffed animals. The 30 they brought plus the 200 we had waiting at home weren't enough. Let's throw some more on the pile. Why not? Maura got a baby giraffe wrapped in a leaf blanket.

She loves that thing. She takes it everywhere with her. For some reason, I didn't get a picture of Lucy's, but she got a little, more realistic looking lion cub. She named it Fuzzy and she loves hers too. Maura named hers Layla. She names everything Layla these days.

We were getting hungry and decided to start heading to lunch. I'd heard good things about Flame Tree BBQ, so we started heading that way. On the way though,we saw a couple of characters out, and thus started the greatest meet and greet in the history of meet and greets. Who were we meeting? Baloo and King Louie! The Jungle Book is my all time favorite Disney movie. I saw it in the theater when I was 4. Shere-Kahn the tiger scared the crap out of me, but I loved it none the same. The line to meet these guys wasn't too long, but even if it was, I would have waited. I'd been waiting my whole life for this meet and greet, and they did NOT disappoint! I immediately told them they were from my favorite Disney movie, and King Louie got all happy and excited and pushed through everyone else in our group to give me a huge hug. And he didn't let go forever. He kissed the girls, tried to push Jason out of the way to be closer to me, he was just on. Baloo was great too. Gave lots of hugs and high fives. We had so much fun. The girls were laughing so hard. So, without further adieu, here are some pics.

This is right after I told him his movie was my favorite.

Maura's not quite sure what to make of him.

continued in next post

More Baloo and King Louie pics. Sorry there are so many but it was seriously the greatest meet and greet ever. They spent so much time with each family and didn't rush anyone.

See how excited I was?

PP was great with these guys.

And then, as we were saying goodbye, King Louie gave me this massive hug.

I love this pic. Look at his arms! It was so great. And their PP was amazing. He took so many great shots, and just talking with him before it was our turn was fun. He got a thank you card from us too. There was definitely a lot of magic in that m & g. We waited for Jason's brother's family to have their turn, and we set off for Flame Tree.

Jason and Lucy had FP+ for EE that they didn't want to waste, so they ran off to do that quickly while the rest of us went to order. Here is their pic from round 2.

Now I had heard great things about the ribs at Flame Tree. I stopped eating beef and pork about 13 years ago, but one of the things I miss most are ribs, because there really isn't a substitute for them. On vacation though, all best are off, so you can bet your behind I got the ribs. They didn't disappoint.

Jason I had the same thing, so I only took 1 pic. The kids got the uncrustables and ate the whole thing.

The food was good and we'll definitely go back! Next time I'd like to try the chicken rib combo.

After filling our bellies, we headed over to Dinoland USA. We had a FP+ for Dinosaur. Again, Jason's dad had never been on this ride, so they waited in standby, which was not long at all. Maybe 20 minutes. Maura had never been on this ride and was a bit apprehensive, but excited.

Here's a pic I took in line. I didn't have the big camera, so I took this one with my phone.

I also found this one. It's Lucy in line for EE actually, but let's pretend it didn't get out of order and she's in line for Dinosaur. Even though all those masks are behind her clearly making it EE.

We all loved Dinosaur. Even Maura. She said it wasn't that scary and she'd go on it again. As evidenced by this picture, you'd think she was bored. Let me warn you now, though, people. This ride photo is my crowning moment. I was in tip top form this day. And I knew where the camera was. Clearly I was the only one in my family who did. And now, I give you, Dinosaur, with a crazy woman.

You have no idea how many compliments I've gotten on this photo since returning. Just my face was my Facebook profile pic for a few weeks and people told me the couldn't stop laughing at it. Frankly, I can't stop laughing at it. And of course I got Bucky in there for good measure. And hey, you can sort of see Fuzzy, the lion Lucy got. She's cowering behind it. Maura and Jason are all business.

On the way out of the ride, while waiting to meet up with everyone else, Maura needed a picture with this guy. She remembered meeting him in 2012 and needed a re-do.

We headed over to Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama. The girls both wanted to ride Triceratop Spin and Lucy was itching to get on Primeval Whirl. She had wanted to ride it 2 years ago, but was seriously like 1/2 and inch too short. She'd been willing herself to grow ever since. She passed it by a mile this time. We actually got Grandma on Triceratop Spin! She's not a thrill ride person, but this one she'd do.

I had asked Jason to take some pics of us ON the ride with his camera. He took this one, posted it to Facebook with the caption "Seriously, Clare, you ask me to take a picture of you riding, and I get a picture of you TAKING a picture?" Hey, you get what you get! At least we're riding. That's Maura and I in the back and Lucy and Grandma in the front.

By this time, it was about 3pm. We had to head back to CBR for our dinner reservations and to get ready for MNSSHP! We had tickets for that night. We got a few PP pics on the way out.

This is always one of my favorites.

Sadly, this was the only day we spent at AK and it was a short one. I feel like we missed so much. We never got on Kali, much to Lucy's dismay. The park was a wreck though, with all the walls. I was super frustrated with it. And hey, this is why we come back. We missed some this time, we'll see it next time!

We said our goodbyes, said we'd see them later in the week, and headed back. We were back at CBR in no time and it was time to get ready! But, you'll have to wait to see how that was until another time!

WHAT A GREAT UPDATE!!!

I love the stuffies the girls got! I totally understand about having more stuffed animals then.. well anything.. One day i will take a picture of them.

YES i fully agree what a mess AK is with all the ugly walls can't navigate normally, and hid the Tree of Life! does not make for good pictures.

Love your Meet and Greet!!!! so glad you did it! and had a great time, :thumbsup2

Man child still has me cracking up... Wonderful you have your sweet baby girl back

I know i am missing a lot, i am only on my first cup of coffee.. so please forgive me!

Thanks! I wasn't planning on it being that long or with so many pictures, but I started and couldn't stop.

I'd love to see that. Our house is definitely the same. The girls have bunk beds and there is barely room for Maura in the bottom. I'll have to take a picture too.

No. It doesn't. I usually love AK, but the refurbs plus trying to navigate with 10 people made it not as fun this year. I hope Avatarland is amazing, because I'm not really that excited about it.

It was the best. It made me super happy.

So glad! But I will always hold a special place in my heard for the man-child :lmao:

No worries! Hey, have you guys seen the Disney exhibit at MSI in Chicago? I think we're going to go in a couple weeks.

Clare, awesome update.

I love the photos with Rafiki.

Lucy's picture on EE is priceless (and more power to her for going on it; this old gal is done with it).

THE WALLS! Were they not the most aggravating thing about AK this year. I couldn't stand it. It just took so much away from the beauty of the park. I wanted to sit down and cry.

The Meet & Greet with King Louie and Baloo is fabulous...you can just see how excited you were in the photos.

Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with Flame Tree (I've not gotten there yet), and we will go back to sit down at Yak & Yeti.

Love the picture on Dinosaur. I was :rotfl:

And the photopass pictures at the exit are great!

I love AK! And how fun to have the extended family there too. But boo to construction walls! I know they're necessary for updates and expansions, but I hate seeing them, and that darn crane at MK. ::microphone:: ::offtopic::

Lucy is a very brave girl!! I can see it runs in the family too; you guys are a thrill riding bunch.

I adore the photos of Maura and her grandpa, they're very sweet.

Loving the safari pictures! Those are amazing. I always leave that ride with terrible photos from my phone ::eyeroll2:: I'm especially fond of your giraffe and hippo pictures.

Baloo and King Louie are great! Everything about that M&G looks great; the PP pics, the girls, you guys, just everything! I can't wait for DD to be big enough to enjoy that stuff with me (cause even at 30 I thoroughly enjoy a good M&G)
