Even with Blisters and Bad Hair, Disney is Still Magical! A Sept. 2014 TR -Updated 5/13

I am in awe over the pictures you have!!!! they all came out FANTASTIC!!! As you know i am also a sucker for Halloween.. I am sorry the villains didn't come out. Like you i think it's crap they are doing that extra dessert party villain M&G. :sad2: Bogus. i wont' pay for it either! Did you read the review it got? I haven't read a positive note on it yet.

Thanks! I am so happy with the pictures from the parade this trip. And I do know how much you love Halloween!

I did read the reviews of the villain party. Really sad that they felt like the needed to do that.

The PARADE! i was singing the song the whole time looking at all your amazing pictures! :cool2: because i am cool like that.

If I so much as hear the word "boo" I start singing the song from the parade. Singing it is almost a daily occurence in our house!

"Great. A sweaty, drunk man with dreadlocks who steals stuff. Great choice, girls. "

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: Not that there is anything wrong with -a sweaty, drunk man with dreadlocks who steals stuff...... Right?

I'd keep him!

This is great too:
"Did I take a picture? Of course I didn't. Why? Because I suck, that's why. You may as well just stop reading right now"

:rotfl: :lmao: CRACK ME UP!!!!

I try. :)

I am TOTALLY JEALOUS over your Hitchhiking ghost PP.. The PP guy was NOT out because of the rain and we never got this one. :furious:

That stinks. We didn't realize the existed 2 years ago, so we would have been super disappointed to miss them too.

can't wait for more!

Maybe tonight! I have a lot of other TRs to catch up on, though. Hey, we went to the Disney exhibit on Sunday and LOVED it! I'm so glad we made the trip! Though getting stuck in Bears traffic after was not so fun.

Holy updates, lady. So much cool stuff to read and look at.

Thanks!

I love the photopass pics as you entered MK.

Yeah, they do a great job with them and I love the Halloween borders you can choose.

And the girls dancing....just too cute.

It made my heart happy.

Great pictures at the Villians show.

Thanks! I am very happy with them.

I really think that stiinks that they did that with the extra $90. I loved the MNSSHP the two times we went. But I won't go anymore because the prices are getting out of control and they oversell the party and you can't get much done (and I sure as heck don't need to trick or treat). But to not let you get autographs of the villians and charge more for that is just ridiculous.

I know. I'll gladly pay for the party, but the extra was just not cool.

What awesome parade pictures. If I could just see the parade every trip, I'd be happy. And you got some great shots of all of it, but especially the headless horseman and the Haunted Mansion section.

Thanks! Well, the Haunted Mansion part was my favorite. And I love this parade, They should always have it. Jason doesn't like parades, but he loves this one.

Speaking of the HM, that's such a cool ride at night, and your photopass pictures after the ride are THE BEST!

I know! There's just something better about riding it at night. Those are the best PP in my opinion

I love this update!! :lovestruck:

Thanks!

I've never done a MNSSHP and as much as I wanted to go after reading this I wanna go even more!

You have to do it sometime. It's so much fun!

The photos of the girls in front of the castle before the parade are awesome. Moments like those are so wonderful, glad you caught it on camera.

I was so happy to be able to capture that.

The. Villains show looks like such fun! I'm kinda POed that they don't stay to say hi anymore. I mean could Disney do both the special ticket event AND the meet after the show? We even considered the event, but $270 for four desserts and some singing on top of the tickets to MNSSHP was just too much.

Yeah, no way were we paying an extra $320 after already paying $250 already for the party.

I love that the girls were convinced the HH was real! Your parade photos are great. Who is that chicken?! She looks like one of the black birds from Dumbo, but I know that's not it. Stuff like that drives me :banana: when I can't place a character.

Oh, they totally thought the HH was real. And that chicken, I have NO idea! Maybe she's is from some Clarabell cartoon or something? She just clucks and sings. She's hilarious.

The Tangle themed rest area looks so pretty! Why in the world would they make in a toilet and nothing else? Even a meet and greet spot would've been more fun

They are pretty. It's a really nice rest area. I also wonder why they didn't do something else with it, but it's sure nice to look at.

Those Magic Shots are awesome! I love that y'all get into them so much! My family is really looking forward to taking as many of those as possible.

We love them! And just be sure to ask every PP you come across if they have them. Not all of them do, but at least you'll know, and in some cases, they'll direct you to a PP who does have them!

I do also want to say that I love that Maura's mermaid make-up is still visible in some of the photos :lmao: she reminds me of my sis, a lot (that's a good thing).

I know! Crazy, right? That was after swimming and a shower, too!

oh GOOD! You went! it's a great display. a lot like one man's dream.

wanted to say:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Clare, I just wanted to pop in and wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.

Geez I've been slacking. Sorry to my faithful readers. I know there aren't many of you, but you have been wonderful and I've been lazy apparently. I'll blame the holiday. Yeah, that's it. And the fact that last Sunday we went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and saw the Disney Archives exhibit! So cool. You're going to be mad at me again, though. I had charged up my battery on the good camera and had it all rarin' to go, and we got to the museum and guess what?

I left the battery at home.:crazy2:

I know, I suck. I was able to get 4 extremely poor quality pics with my phone. No flash photos, as usual per Disney, so you'll have to take what you get. I do apologize, though. The pictures don't do it justice. Here's the girls with Captain Jack Sparrow's costume. They were VERY excited to see this one.

My favorite part of the exhibit, the Haunted Mansion part.

Mary Poppins. So cool!

We loved the exhibit and spent about 90 minutes in there just looking and reading. Maura was excited to see the Oswald cartoons. They had the Animation Academy and we drew Olaf! The best part? So we are members of the Milwaukee Public Museum and get 1/2 off at MSI, so we were thrilled with that. However, just as I was the next person in line, this little old lady on a scooter asked how many were in my party, I said 4 and she said they'd had an event with some non-profit group and had extra tickets! She said we could get in free. I thanked her but said we wanted the Disney exhibit also, and she said the tickets included that! So how about that? Even pixiedust: for Disney when we aren't at Disney! We saved about $60 getting in for free. I thanked the ladies up and down and said how incredibly grateful we were. They said they were glad we could take them so they didn't go to waste. A couple other families got the tickets too. Such a nice surprise! i will say though, the exhibit totally would have been worth the $60 we would have paid. If you are in the Chicago area and haven't seen it, I highly recommend it! it's only there through the first week of January though, so hurry!

Okay, now let's get back to MNSSHP. So, we had just finished up our awesome PPs with the ghosts. Since everywhere but the hub basically WAS a ghost town at this point, we decided to do some more trick or treating and hitting some rides. We started T or T right there outside of the Rapunzel bathrooms. There was a T or T spot right there, so more huge handfuls of candy we got! The kids eyes got bigger and bigger with each spot we visited. Hey, at least the candy would keep them going since this would be a late night!

Since we were in Fantasyland, we of course walked passed the most annoying ride ever. That's right. IASW. We tried to quietly walk past it, but Maura especially was having none of that. In her most whisper quiet voice (and by that I mean she yelled), we heard "There's Small World. I haven't been on that yet." Sigh. We couldn't avoid it. So, we got in line, I mean, walked right onto our boat. Hey, at least we didn't have to wait to visit H E double hockey sticks. We just walked right on! A man and his 2 kids got on behind us. The kids were maybe 10 and 12ish and had obviously never been there before. The man/dad explained that we'd hear the song sung in several different languages throughout the ride. I jokingly turned and said "And you'll never want to hear it again!" and I chuckled. The man said, "Well, I'm not that cynical." Sheesh. Lighten up, pal. It was a joke. And I'm sorry, if you don't get sick of that song by the end of the ride? As an adult I mean? Come on. He was a barrel of laughs.

I didn't take any pictures. I have enough, and I KNOW you've all seen them before. If you haven't, visit KatMark's report, or Chicago Mo's. They have some. We made it through the ride alive, the kids got to see the pink poodle in France (their favorite thing about the ride), and we thankfully removed ourselves from the boat and that song.

We walked out of that ride and right onto Peter Pan. What? Walked on to Peter Pan? You heard me right. I told you, everyone was in the hub! What a great time to ride rides. That's why we went to the early shows! After Peter Pan, we walked onto Voyage of the Little Mermaid! We hadn't been on this yet and were all excited to ride. Our friend Randy, who cuts all of our hair, is also a Disney nut and he told the girls right before we left that Ursula was his girlfriend and they should say hi to her for him. Remember that. So, the ride started and I tried to snap some pics. They are not great, but better than I thought they would be.

Okay, this one is bad.

This was my favorite part. I LOVE the song Under the Sea.

Kiss the girl.

So I don't have a picture of Ursula, but when we passed her, my kids start yelling from the clam. "Ursula, we know Randy. He told us to say hi!" Well, they sure didn't forget! Jason and I were laughing so hard, and Randy almost died when we told him they remembered when we got back. He pretended he was talking to her on the phone when they girls got their next haircuts. I swear, those kids believe anything.

I got one last picture of Scuttle at the end.

We stopped for some PP outside of the ride. I love the lighting in these!

So you're never going to believe what ride we walked on after the PP. Come on, guess.

I'll wait.

OMG! Seven Dwarves Mine Train! There was NO LINE! None. We walked right up to the loading area. Seriously, can you believe it? We had told the kids we probably wouldn't get on it again this trip, but MNSSHP proved us wrong! We were all happy to ride again and hopped right on.

After visiting the Dwarves again, guess who we saw to meet across from the ride? And again, she had no line! She was a huge surprise and I think a Halloween party only M&G. No clue? I'll show you.

Holy cow, can you believe it? The Wicked Witch? I couldn't believe we just got to walk right up and see her. Her hands made it impossible for her to sign autographs, but we were perfectly happy with pictures. I'm sure this is a meet and greet we may never get again. She was actually not so wicked and spent a lot of time with us. You can see the girls were excited, but a little nervous too!

My eyes are closed in this one, but I don't care.

She may not have been Maleficent, but I'll take a good old Disney villain any day! I may have been the most excited to meet her.

About this time, my right foot especially was beginning to kill me. I could tell I had a blister right in the middle of my foot. I was wearing good shoes, but I guess they were rubbing the wrong way. My dogs were barking, but it was only like 9:30ish at this time, and there was no way I was giving up. I took one for the team and soldiered on!

We hadn't ridden Dumbo yet and the girls were itching to ride. So, of course we walked right on. I only took this one picture on the ride, reminding us not to dance.

I did take a few after though, in the sample Dumbo they have outside the ride. Jason is always the clown.

After Dumbo, we did the trick or treat trail over to Tomorrowland. About 4 stops and 27 pounds of candy later, we arrived. We had never been on Mickey's Speedway up to this point, and the girls were intrigued, mostly because they realized they could drive. Since there was no line, we went on. Again, I have no photographic evidence. Why are you even wasting your time reading this? But, it did happen. Lucy rode with Jason and I was the lucky one who got to ride with the 5 year old. She was driving like a drunken Grandma. Thank God for the bumper strip in the middle or we would have ended up in Seven Seas Lagoon I think. But, the kids giggled and bumped their way through the ride. I'm glad we did it. They had fun, and this one isn't accompanied by any ear-bleeding music.

continued in next post

Since we were in Tomorrowland, and there were no lines for anything, Lucy wanted to ride her favorite, Space Mountain. So, she and Jason went to that and Maura and I decided to go on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Here's out picture. LOL!

I guess I took it pretty seriously. Maura did too! Too bad you can't see her little face. She did get arrested by Zurg, though.

We got out and saw we could meet Lotso with, you guessed it, no line! Well, we had to meet him. Maura needed to know if he really smelled like strawberries! She asked him and he "told" her to sniff.

The verdict? "Mommy, he DOES smell like strawberries!" We got some hugs and a few more pics.

I feel bad liking Lotso. He was such a bad guy in Toy Story 3, but he's so hard to resist! And he smells like strawberries!

There was another dance party going on, and this night, it featured the Monsters Inc. characters. Maura LOVES them, so while waiting for Jason and Lucy, we went over to check it out. I love that Disney does this!

Spinning with Sully.

And so many of the characters were there! The guy with the sock on his back, Boo, and others.

While we were dancing, Maura saw that Buzz was out for a meet and greet and she wanted to meet him. He had loved the kids 2 years ago, and she remembered that and wanted to say hi. Jason and Lucy were having another go on Space Mountain, so we went over to meet Buzz. He didn't disappoint. He was just as excited to see her as he had been last time!

I had to get in on one too.

AFter meeting Buzz, we met back up with Lucy and Jason. Lucy wanted to ride SM one more time with me, so back we went. The camera on the ride wasn't working this night, so no ride photos, sadly. But we went on it! And we enjoyed it. If you're keeping track, this was now 5 rides on SM for Lucy.

Now that we were all back together, we asked Lucy if she wanted to meet Buzz or Lotso, and she said no, she was okay, but she wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear. Since there was no line, we went on 2 more times. I did get the ride photos on this one.

You can see Maura peeking through on this one.

Lucy and I.

Here's Jason and Maura the second time around. Not sure what happened to Lucy and I.

Once again, my children, and Bucky were thrown into Zurg jail. Maura isn't happy about it.

I was parched by this time, so I got one of those frozen Cokes. I love those things. We'll get a slushy-like beverage whenever we have the chance. I got the giant one and shared. The kids had been waiting anxiously for Mickey bars, so Maura got the original and Lucy opted for the sandwich. It was getting close to midnight by this time, and now my blister was REALLY killing me, so we decided, since we had done so much, we'd call it a night. We'd banged out Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and we'd be back to the Magic Kingdom before our trip ended.

Back to the stinky monorail, back to our car, and back at CBR, I started blister maintenance. Lots of cream and bandaids, a soak in the shower, and hopefully tomorrow they'd be bearable. We shall see, friends. We shall see. I promise to not be so slacking in the next week. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families!

Well, your report cracks me up. I'm still laughing about that straw/hay guy on IASW. Yeah, you're pretty cool.

HOW CAN YOU GO TO THE DISNEY EXHIBIT AND NOT HAVE A CAMERA!

Don't even ask. I was so careful to charge the battery the night before. I thought for sure I had put it back in the camera. Jason had his phone, but he only takes pictures of what he wants to. NOt what I want him to.

oh my goodness... It is a really awesome place isn't it? I hope it had all the Christmas decorations up? What else did you see??? I love this museum.

Yes! All the trees were up. So cool and festive. Jason had never been to MSI before and he said it was the coolest museum he'd ever been to. The kids can't wait to go back.

We were so happy to get so many rides in! And yes, the witch, so awesome.

Lovin the pictures you DO have!

Thanks!

:lmao: Just imagine the straw guy on the horse.

Great updates Claire! I can't believe you guys got so much done at MNSSHP. I mean I've heard it's great to rode the rides, but this is crazy!

Love your HM pictures. Great M&G with the Evil Queen! I've never seen her like that, she's usually the pretty one, not the hag. That's gotta be something special.

Lucy is serious about her SP, I mean 5 times, basically in a row! That's a lot whip lash! Ah, to be young again.

The time you spent with Maura in TomorrowLand looks wonderful. All those great character photos. Especially Lotso (who will forever be Strawberry Bear to me, not sure why); I like him too cause as bad as his was who can resist a strawberry scented teddy bear?!

Hope that blister didn't give you too much trouble. They. Are. The. WORST! And no matter what shoes I wear, socks, powder, etc I always leave WDW with at least one. :(

ugh. Straw Hat thing is just scary little creep escaping from hell..

Oh good!!! So happy you all enjoyed it!!! i want to get over to the nature museum for the voodoo exhibit i am sure i can get some pretty cool pictures. now just to find the time to get over there!

Thanks! your pretty cool yourself! :thumbsup2

Clare, great updates.

I live in Chicago, I have all of my life, and I still have not seen the Disney exhibit at the Museum. And it doesn't look as if I will. :(

I am so glad you got a chance to get on the Mine Ride again...and with no line.

Fun that you saw the Evil queen from Snow White when you got off.

And the pictures with Lotso are adorable...Maura looks to be in heaven.

You did awesome on the attractions with no waits.

I hope the blister is better the next monring.

With the hustle and bustle of getting ready to go out of State of Thanksgiving and then being out of town, I got behind on your report. OMG! I love your costumes! Seriously cute as buttons! I can't believe that you got so much done, saw characters and got magic shot pictures taken that evening. I thought that it was supposed to be super duper crowded? You lucked out!

Great updates Claire! I can't believe you guys got so much done at MNSSHP. I mean I've heard it's great to rode the rides, but this is crazy!

We were so happy! Everyone wants to do the other events (or they did that night) but we did it early so we could do the other stuff!

Love your HM pictures. Great M&G with the Evil Queen! I've never seen her like that, she's usually the pretty one, not the hag. That's gotta be something special.

It was awesome, and I think it was just for the party!

Lucy is serious about her SP, I mean 5 times, basically in a row! That's a lot whip lash! Ah, to be young again.

I know. She wasn't playing around. But, it was actually 5 in total. 2 the first day, 3 the second. I don't know if even she can handle 5 in a row!

The time you spent with Maura in TomorrowLand looks wonderful. All those great character photos. Especially Lotso (who will forever be Strawberry Bear to me, not sure why); I like him too cause as bad as his was who can resist a strawberry scented teddy bear?!

We had a great time. It's nice for the kids to get some one on one time once in a while, and both got to take advantage of it that night. And yeah, Lotso is a jerk, but hey, strawberry!

Hope that blister didn't give you too much trouble. They. Are. The. WORST! And no matter what shoes I wear, socks, powder, etc I always leave WDW with at least one. :(

Well,l I'll have more on that soon!

ugh. Straw Hat thing is just scary little creep escaping from hell..

Hahahahahahahaha! I think you're right, but now it will be my goal to find it next time we go! Because you know there's not getting out of that ride wit my kids.:headache:

Oh good!!! So happy you all enjoyed it!!! i want to get over to the nature museum for the voodoo exhibit i am sure i can get some pretty cool pictures. now just to find the time to get over there!

Which one is the nature museum? Is that the Field Museum? They have voodoo exhibit?!?!?!?! The girls want to go there and see Sue the dinosaur, so we may be there soon too!

Thanks! your pretty cool yourself! :thumbsup2

Aw, thanks!:flower3:

Clare, great updates.

Thanks!

I live in Chicago, I have all of my life, and I still have not seen the Disney exhibit at the Museum. And it doesn't look as if I will. :(

That stinks, Kathy. I know you've had a lot going on, though. Maybe it will make its way to Milwaukee at some point and you could come up and see it.

I am so glad you got a chance to get on the Mine Ride again...and with no line.

That was some serious pixie dust! We didn't think we'd get to ride again, because we knew there was no way we'd get another FP+. We barely got the one we had and that was 60 days out!

Fun that you saw the Evil queen from Snow White when you got off.

So awesome. That made the night for me.

And the pictures with Lotso are adorable...Maura looks to be in heaven.

She loves a good meet and greet! She has a hard time looking at the camera for them because she just wants to look at whomever she happens to be meeting.

You did awesome on the attractions with no waits.

It was the best!

I hope the blister is better the next monring.

Oh, you'll see how that turns out!

Thanks, and don't feel bad. Life happens! We did luck out at the party. You know, it was packed by the hub where all the party stuff happens, but once we got away from there, it was like a ghost town. Our party was early (Sept. 14), so maybe not as many people were coming for it yet? It was like that 2 years ago, too. Some of the "special" characters had longer waits, but we had met some of them last time so we didn't wait this time.

Yes the nature museum! It's by the aquarium. Yep where Sue is!
Otherwise its a BORING museum!

We finally stopped at a Red Roof Inn in Macon, Georgia for the night. We stopped at 11:40pm, which was 10:40pm our time. Not bad! Had we not had the delays, we would have done even better! We settled in for the night, ready to get to Disney in the morning!

Can I ask how the Red Roof Inn was? We're considering stopping in Macon on our way down.

Can I ask how the Red Roof Inn was? We're considering stopping in Macon on our way down.

It was not bad at all! Nothing fancy, just a place to sleep for the night, but they did have a small continental breakfast. And it got decent reviews on the Road Ninja app. That's a great app to have! It shows you what's coming up in nearby exits and gives reviews/prices of the places too. Let me know if you have other questions!
