After our ride through the mines, it was time for our "extra" fast pass. About 2 weeks before we left, I got the coveted email for the BOG lunch. Before I got it, we weren't planning on eating there, because we didn't want to use a fast pass on a meal, and I'd heard such mixed reviews about the food, I was just sort of neutral about the place. When the email came, though, I talked to Jason, and we thought what the heck? If nothing else, it will be really cool to see the inside of Beast's castle. We also liked that we could pre-order our food, so we made the reservation. All they had left for times was 1:40-2:10, but that actually worked out really well since we ate such a big breakfast.
We got there just at the end of our time frame, and could see why you needed a FP ressie. They were turning people away who didn't have them, and it wasn't even THAT crowded. We checked in, scanned our bands that contained our meal choices, and were told to sit where we'd like. The girls were very excited to see inside. We had been told by my friend Toni to try to get a spot in the Rose Gallery, as it was the coolest. The whole place was packed and the bussers were moving at a glacial pace, but we finally got a seat where we had hoped.
Beards and blackeyes:
I swear that dirty old man is not my beautiful little girl.
Before too long, our food came. Once again, I had to snap fast or risk a minor injury to my hand. Jason ordered the Braised Pork (Coq au Vin style): Eight Hour Slow-cooked Pork with Mushrooms, Onions, Carrots and Bacon served with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans Jardiniere
He was VERY happy with his choice. I tried the pork, that I usually don't eat, but it was delicious. Very tender and flavorful. Everything about this was good.
I got the Vegetable Quiche: Mushroom, Zucchini, Bell Pepper, Onion and Chive Quiche served with Baby Lettuce coated with Champagne Vinaigrette.
I also loved this. It was warm, great texture, lots of veggies, and the green salad it came with was a perfect garnish. I'd definitely get it again.
The girls both had the kids Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup. It's exactly how it sounds. The menu says it comes with green beans, but theirs did not. That's fine though, they wouldn't have eaten them anyway. It was served with a cookie, though.
As you can see, someone was eager as there are bites out of it already. I guess I should feel lucky that wasn't my hand. They were very happy with the grilled cheese, especially since the crusts were cut off. They eat crusts at home, but were glad it didn't have any. They were just okay with the soup and ate a few bites, but Jason and I finished them off. They had chocolate milk and we got them each a Mickey straw to go with it.
For desert, I had to try the Master's Cupcake with the grey stuff. I loved it. I was mad I had to share, but everyone wanted to try it.
Jason got the Triple Chocolate Cupcake: Chocolate Sponge Cake, Chocolate Mousse Filling and Chocolate Ganache.
His was also quite tasty, but not as good as mine. After we finished and passed off our table to some other waiting family, we checked out the rest of the Rose Gallery and the other rooms. Jason got a great picture of the rose. It was dark in there, but the camera on his phone is great and he captured it better than I could have.
I snapped a quick picture in each of the other rooms, but it was crowded and we didn't linger too long.
Did we like BOG? Yes! Lunch was great. We would definitely do lunch again. I don't know that we would do dinner. The menu just isn't as appetizing to any of us, but I think we'll plan on lunch again on our next visit.
We got this one on the way out, and also got some PP pics. And seriously, this is the WORST my hair looked the whole trip, I think. Floppy. It's supposed to stick up. UP!
When we looked at our Memory Maker pics when we got home, there were these cute little videos as well:
Nice touch!
After lunch, we had a little time to kill before our next FP+ window opened, and the line to meet Ariel was surprisingly short. It was posted at 20 minutes, so we jumped right in line. We had never met Ariel in her fin, and the mermaid and bearded lady were ready. Especially since the CM at the front said Ariel would LOVE to see their makeup. I'm sure she was mostly talking about Maura because frankly, Lucy was looking pretty rough since dumping the rest of her costume.
While waiting in line, the kids found a REALLY cool hidden Mickey. Of course they both had to have their picture taken with it. First, the man child.
It's just down to her right in the pic. Then the crazy mermaid. You can see it a bit better here.
