even more problems with Dollar Rental Car

in addition to all that I wrote yesterday about them not telling us about the car office being closed and not finding out until we got there.......today, I got my citibank bill. My reservation was for $22/car. My citibank bill is $60 at Dollar. WHATEVER! Now I know I will never use them again. All in all, the vacation was great. But so far, nothing with Dollar has gone right......the car we reserved IN ADVANCE was not available, the location we were to use was CLOSED, and now the charge was way more than I signed up for.........Grrrrrrrr.
 
I'm curious where you were. We've rented from Dollar anytime we've rented a car at Orlando International and have never had a problem. But I've never used them anywhere else. Actually, we did rent from Alamo once in Orlando but that was a disaster and will never do it again.
 
we rented at the airport and was suppose to return it at a downtown Disney hotel. Then, eight days later, we were suppose to pick it up at a downtown disney hotel and drop it off at the airport. To top off the story, we had the rental car for SIX hours. I just got my credit card bill yesterday and they charged us for TWO DAYS.
 
Not to be a wet blanket.....but probably all rental places have to charge you for one day even if you only had the car 1 hour......

So technically it was two days...... Most of the other costs come from mandatory FL junk fees on rental cars which probably did total the rest of your bill.

I think Grumpy's gal is talking about getting charged double JUST for the first rental. Picking up a car in the afternoon and returning it that same night should never count as two days!

GG, did you get charged correctly for the second rental?
 
I obviously didn't make myself clear -

I had the car from 3:00 in the afternoon to 9:00 that same night. Six hours TOTAL. I got charged for TWO DAYS!

The next time I had the car, I had it from 11:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon the same day. That time, I was charged correctly. For just one day.

Sorry for the confusion. So people, DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS if you use Dollar.
 
Have you been in touch with Dollar yet to correct the overbilling? Let us know how that turns out.
 
We rent from them every year and just love them. The prices, service, convenience, vehicles, billing, everything. We've never had a problem with them at all. Hope you get everything straightened out.

Just wanted to let you guys know that we also were booked to rent a car at the downtown disney hotel on our departure day but got there to pick up the car only to find out they were not even open! The hotel was under renovations and Dollar was closed. It was my DH and 5 yr. old that went to get the car ( DD and I were at Super Soap wkend) But i got a call on my cell from a very angry husband that it took him an hour to get through to someone and figure out where to get the rental van we had booked! They told him to come to there office in Kissimmee and he said HOW! He told them they needed to come and pick them up. They did send a shuttle but when he went to rent the mini van they didn't have any and only had a full size car! Not what we had planned for at all with all of our luggage. We had been in Florida for 2 weeks ( only 1 at disney)!

The whole thing took 3 hours!! I have never heard my husband be that mad.... EVER! We haven't gotten the bill yet but I sure hope it is right!
 
oh my gosh - LisaRay, I can relate. That sounds about the same that happened to us.....and no, I have never seen my husband so mad. ;-( It took a HUGE portion of our day as well to get things straightened out. So, sadly to say, we didn't get to do anything fun for half a day and we had to sit around and try to get this worked out. Like you, we had reservations for that Dollar office that was closed and NO ONE CALLED TO TELL US......I am still so mad at them........
