Thanks for the welcome! My MIL just emailed me that they finally booked. They ended up 2 or 3 doors down from us on the 6th deck. I've been reading through everything trying to figure out what hotel to stay in. We'll be in Paris for a few days, then going to Barcelona for 2 days before the cruise. Not sure how we're getting to Barcelona yet (train or plane).
Is it better to get Disney transportation from the hotel to the cruise or just get a taxi? There will either be 6 or 8 of us at that point.
I think my older son would love the Fish Extenders, so I'll contact that person for more information soon. I haven't asked him about the wristbands yet, but I suspect he'd like that as well.

Hi Michelle

That's great your MIL booked. Now, all she needs (and your parents) is to come here on the Diss to meet us all.
We are going to be in Madrid for some days before we arrive at Barcelona and are planning to do the Madrid --> Barcelona by train; kind of changind the airplane routine. But it only takes 2 1/2 hours for the ride on a super fast train. Trains from Paris is way much longer; ir might take over night, so if you are confortable with being for a very long time on a train it is OK. Also for what I have heard it's not that cheaper than a flight from a local (European) airline. If the train schedule is overnight you may not need a hotel for that night.
Regarding Disney transportation: I have seen the it's a must have whether if it is going to the ship or getting off the ship. Aparently the port is a little messy when disembarking

; and don't expect Port Canaveral
DCL fascilities

. I'm planning to book this once in Barcelona with direct person to person talk. Not on-line. DCL Private trasnport might go only to specific hotels or the airport (I have very little info on that) but aparently it is more expensive (@ US $ 35. per person each way).
I can put you all down on the list for the wristbands if you want. I'm planning for them to be "Glow in the Dark" and only at US $ 1.oo each. It will be fun. Just let me know quantity and if they are for children or adults.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Michelle, welcome from us as well! I am also in the process of figuring out where to stay and what our plans are for Barcelona pre-cruise. I'm thinking we'll fly overnight from the US on Wednesday night, get to Barcelona Thursday morning, and then we'll have Thursday and Friday to sight-see.
Anyone have any must-see sights in Barcelona??
We just spent the day skiing in frigid wind, and I spent the whole time riding the lifts talking my DH's ear off about summer plans!

I need good weather...it's so nice to think about this cruise!!
Hello Tracy

We have never been to Barvelona but I can tell what I have picke up so far:
It's a Wanderfull City.
There's a lot of history and Cathedrals, archoitecture mostly by famous Gaudi, very young atmosphere, lots of party, museums, theaters concerts gardens and lots of restaurant to enjoy the Mediterranean Cuisine; for the Adults. For the children there are lots of things too but I have done very little research on children things (No children in our party). A City Zoo, an atraction park with roller coasters; great sandy mediterranean beaches, more museums for the children and parks. There's a close by (30 miles) monastery called Monserrat which it's a must see with a children choir and Gregorian Monks singing. We are planning of going here on thursday before the cruise.
Hope you had fun skiing; it's been since Christmast on year 2002 that we went to Lake Placid NY for a skiing vacations (DD was the only one that actually got on the skis and took skiing classes). I know in the theater business for good luck before a play you may say "Brake a Leg" What does one say when skiing ? See you at the bottom !
Humm, making your DH part of the planning protects you from any future complains; very smart of you.
Happy Cruise Planning
