Euro Magic Med 7 Night Cruise Aug 20 - 27 2011

:cool1: go Manny :)

FYI. I have been to see my 'Polo shirt supplier'

afarid the cost has increased slightly...£9.99 plus Vat...so basically £12 for adult sizes and £6 for childrens ( up to 13 i think, but will get exact sizing chart next time i am in)
The quality was so much better than the other ones he quoted me....i spent an hour in there today feeling shirts! I was loosing the will to live by the time i left:eek:

Anyway...will get DH to chase the logo...coz i can get than sorted asap.
decisions will still need to be made re. colours.
I favour a purple one, but they come in multiple colours...and we can have different colours if people really want.:confused3

Will updat FB page for those who check it :)

Wow Manny well done on your iPad purchase, they are lovely aren't they! I'm so jealous but happy for you :cool1:

Nice move booking a night in Barcelona after the cruise too, nice to extend the break :thumbsup2

Maria, thank you for chasing up the polo shirts, they sound fab :woohoo:

Thank you Maza and Mel for the cheer.

Today checking out DCL I found out that category 11B is no longer available. :confused3

That's the cat we are in, which refers to an inside stateroom deck 6. This means that our cruise is filling up, which is a good thing, also it could mean that DCL blocked this cat to make up enough space for the Sep 3 unfortunate crusers. It's also wanderfull news meaning our cruise won't be chartered or scratched. :cool2:

It also means there has been a price variation. Why ? Well if cat 11B is no longer available new crusers can only go either higher or lower, there fore a price variation.

Something else I was able to pick up is that 10 and 11 nights cruises have ,received mayor port changes. No more Tunes. I know that the Tunisia situation affects all cruise lines creating a space situation on other ports.

we are going on this cruise -
There are 6 (all adults), in three staterooms.

Me (Gary)
Susan (Wife) and our four grown up children
Nicola,
Richard,
James and
Alex

I thought I'd already posted this, but it may have been when we were going to be on the 6th August cruise - glad we didn't change to the 3rd September.
Feel very sorry for those people who will lose out on their cruise.

Hello Gary and grown up family (actually the real children of the Magic are us the grown up's). I'm glad you are sailing with us.

Please check out post 1 on page 1 of this thread and let me know any information you might want to share with us or if you want to participate on any of the activities being planned.

I can see a on your signature that you mention the Dover to Barcelona 2010. There's an aniversary meet from that very same cruise, maybe you already know them: Mickeys Magical Armada

Well welcome to our cruise Gary, Susan, Nicola, Rchard, James and Alex.

Happy Cruise Planning :yay:

Yes we do know some people from the last cruise as we were part of Mickeys Magical Armada.
Alex will only be 18 by the time of the cruise, so I guess he won't be able to attend the cocktail party, but I think the rest of us will be doing that.
Susan, Nicola and myself did the Martini tasting last time and we really enjoyed that :)

We booked this cruise last night, and are sooo excited! It's me (Tracy), DH (Steve), and DD Emmalyn, who will be 9 at time of sailing.
I'm very impressed with the DISers I see on this cruise as well...wow, even a website! Over the next couple of days I'm planning to read through this whole thread, and hope to gain lots of good knowledge. I'm especially interested right now in how far in advance people are arriving in Barcelona, recommendations on where to stay, and whether people are catching flights post-cruise on Saturday or if it makes more sense to stay an extra day...those are the decisions I'm making now. popcorn::

Looking forward to getting to know you all!! 190 days!!!!

party: Welcome Tracyz Family. I'm so glad you are sailing with us :goodvibes

Please do ask and share any information you want and specially what is posted on the first page of this thread; we have quite some things going on that you might want to participate.

Due to the costs of air fares and very long flights logistics and specially jet lag it is highly recomended to arrive to Barcelona at least one day before cruise, but, Barcelona is a wanderfull city which has an enchantment of it's own and requires several days to enjoy them. We are arriving 4 days before the cruise and are leaving 2 days after the cruise. I sugest you take at least two before and two after if timing permits.

Once more :welcome: Tracyz Family: Tracy, Steve and Emmalyn.

Now you are oficialy Euro Mouseketeers. :yay:

Happy Cruise Planning party:

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to PM the people in charge about these things, but we'd love to be part of the FE gift exchange, and would like wristbands.

I have found myself completely obsessed with trip planning now! Lost most of my day a work looking at flight options.:rotfl:

I'm thinking of spending 2 nights in Barcelona pre-cruise. I'm not sure what to do about post-cruise. It looks like we could get an afternoon flight, but it's about guessing how we'll feel that day...will we be exhausted and just anxious to get home, or happy to have one more day and night in Barcelona if we stay until Sunday? Hmmmmmm....

Hi Tracyz :flower3: I'm in charge of the wristbands so as of now I'm putting you all on the list. :yay:

On Facebook page are also been arranged other activities. :mic:

For the the Fish extender our Fish Extender Captain is Vron and eventually she will ask all of us what we need to let her know. :mic:

PM any info that you want to share "but" that you don't want to go public, for example, hotel in Barcelona; we just mention the name of the hotels but don't specify who is staying there. :ssst:

For what I have seen flights returning to US on saturday are mostly in the morning (before 12:00) they would put you to be at the airport early, at least 2 hours before flight.

Oh, also you are not alone on the planning obsession :lmao: I've been planning since Jan 2010 for this cruise Beleive me, it's driving me crazy :crazy2: and still have a bunch of things to make a final decision; like shore excursions. :hyper: I just guess it's part of the fun. :woohoo:

Happy Cruise Planning :cool1:

We're also booked on the cruise. It's our first cruise ever and we have no idea what we're doing! lol We're on Deck 6, first dining. In one stateroom, it's myself, DH and our 2 kids...both boys - age 2 and 4 (almost 5). Connecting stateroom is my mom and stepfather. Somewhere else on the ship will be my in-laws (I'm not even sure if they've booked yet - MIL keeps sending messages about it, but we can't figure out if she's done it or not).

Will keep watching the thread or any tips, hints, ideas :)

Happy Cruise Planning. :yay:

Thanks for the welcome! My MIL just emailed me that they finally booked. They ended up 2 or 3 doors down from us on the 6th deck. I've been reading through everything trying to figure out what hotel to stay in. We'll be in Paris for a few days, then going to Barcelona for 2 days before the cruise. Not sure how we're getting to Barcelona yet (train or plane).

Is it better to get Disney transportation from the hotel to the cruise or just get a taxi? There will either be 6 or 8 of us at that point.

I think my older son would love the Fish Extenders, so I'll contact that person for more information soon. I haven't asked him about the wristbands yet, but I suspect he'd like that as well. :)

Michelle

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Michelle, welcome from us as well! I am also in the process of figuring out where to stay and what our plans are for Barcelona pre-cruise. I'm thinking we'll fly overnight from the US on Wednesday night, get to Barcelona Thursday morning, and then we'll have Thursday and Friday to sight-see.

Anyone have any must-see sights in Barcelona??

We just spent the day skiing in frigid wind, and I spent the whole time riding the lifts talking my DH's ear off about summer plans!:rotfl: I need good weather...it's so nice to think about this cruise!!

Hi Michelle :goodvibes That's great your MIL booked. Now, all she needs (and your parents) is to come here on the Diss to meet us all. :wave2:

We are going to be in Madrid for some days before we arrive at Barcelona and are planning to do the Madrid --> Barcelona by train; kind of changind the airplane routine. But it only takes 2 1/2 hours for the ride on a super fast train. Trains from Paris is way much longer; ir might take over night, so if you are confortable with being for a very long time on a train it is OK. Also for what I have heard it's not that cheaper than a flight from a local (European) airline. If the train schedule is overnight you may not need a hotel for that night. :dance3:

Regarding Disney transportation: I have seen the it's a must have whether if it is going to the ship or getting off the ship. Aparently the port is a little messy when disembarking :worried:; and don't expect Port Canaveral DCL fascilities :sad1:. I'm planning to book this once in Barcelona with direct person to person talk. Not on-line. DCL Private trasnport might go only to specific hotels or the airport (I have very little info on that) but aparently it is more expensive (@ US $ 35. per person each way).

I can put you all down on the list for the wristbands if you want. I'm planning for them to be "Glow in the Dark" and only at US $ 1.oo each. It will be fun. Just let me know quantity and if they are for children or adults. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Hello Tracy :goodvibes We have never been to Barvelona but I can tell what I have picke up so far:

It's a Wanderfull City. :woohoo:

There's a lot of history and Cathedrals, archoitecture mostly by famous Gaudi, very young atmosphere, lots of party, museums, theaters concerts gardens and lots of restaurant to enjoy the Mediterranean Cuisine; for the Adults. For the children there are lots of things too but I have done very little research on children things (No children in our party). A City Zoo, an atraction park with roller coasters; great sandy mediterranean beaches, more museums for the children and parks. There's a close by (30 miles) monastery called Monserrat which it's a must see with a children choir and Gregorian Monks singing. We are planning of going here on thursday before the cruise. ;)

Hope you had fun skiing; it's been since Christmast on year 2002 that we went to Lake Placid NY for a skiing vacations (DD was the only one that actually got on the skis and took skiing classes). I know in the theater business for good luck before a play you may say "Brake a Leg" What does one say when skiing ? See you at the bottom ! :lmao:

Humm, making your DH part of the planning protects you from any future complains; very smart of you. :rotfl2:

Florida_Mel is in charge of the tasting for this cruise; I think she was in charge on the other one too.

I'm sure she will set up something nice to rock the boat. :drinking1

Hi All

Just wanted to say a quick hello, we are hoping to book this cruise in the next couple of days :woohoo: (we = me, DH, DD - 6 and DS -4) We went on the Med cruise last May and stayed in Barcelona a few days prior to the cruise last time, we done our own trips on port days, although we avoided some of the inner cities due to our little one being 3, we didn't think he would enjoy it (we have the luxury of really cheap ryanair/easyjet flights to book cheap city breaks out of season, but we can't afford disney magic very often!!) We stayed in an apartment in Barcelona, as it's expensive to dine so I enjoyed just having cereal in the morning and a kitchen to do little bits for the kids, the kids also had there own room which was nice. If you have children I would really recommend the Barcelona Zoo and Ciutadella Park (beautiful park and free!!), if you are looking for beautiful buildings its worth a visiting Sagrada Familia, amazing to see, The underground/tubes are fantastic for travelling, and unlike London people often offer little ones the seats!:lovestruc
