Scouts Euro Mouseketeers Meet on The Magic Med Cruise ! :yay:

This is a great initiave Leigh_v :thumbsup2 and I would like to know if it's first time thing on a Disney Cruise or at least on The Disney Magic; maybe we can arrange for Scout Mickey to be a part of it. ::MickeyMo

But please tell us what kind of meet do you have in mind ? Would the Scouts have to bring their uniform ? Pin Trading ? etc.

Boys Scouts is a pretty large organization world wide for I'm sure more participants will join. How about Girls Scouts ? ;)

I'm going to write a note on first page as an oficial meet. :goodvibes

This is going to be fun ! Scout's Honor :)

Hi Sparkle Queen :flower3: Wow you are going for a great time. :cool1:

Got you down and confirmed for 2 Adults and two children wristbands.

Remember to ask anything you want; it's a pleasure to give tips for a first time cruiser. But do know that the first time rush never goes away it just gets better.

Once you get a chance please read first post on this thread and share any info you feel confortable with.

Once again Welcome to you and your family to this wanderfull Med Cruise. :cheer2:

Maybe I need to be more prepared

My feeling for the meet is that it should be fun and for the whole of the Scouting family, badges (cloth patches we only have a few different pins in the UK Scouts.) should be swapped and contacts made.

Boys, Girls and Adults are welcome to join in. We should meet in the Promenade bar, maybe during the at-sea day (Photos all round!)

Uniforms - ummmm had not thought that far ahead, I'm thinking that a shirt/top and scalf would be nice, but would interested members be willing to carry their uniform with them???

It is only our 2nd DCL Cruise, last year we did the Dover - Barcelona. so I'm not too sure if anyone else has done this..:confused3

As this is the more American board, The Scout assocation in the UK has both male and female members for all sections;

Beavers 6-8 years
Cubs 8-10 1/2 years
Scouts 10 1/2 - 14 years
Explorers 14-18 years
Network 18-24 then adults 24+

Once we have a rough idea of numbers, I can contact DCL and see if there is any chance of getting Mickey in Uniform.... :wizard:

I can't even start to imagine how the fellow cruisers from September 3rd Med cruise must be feeling.

It's really very unconfortable. I wasn't going to mention this here but I figure it's something that does happen and one must be prepared for everything; like cruise insurance and not so cheap non-refundable flights/hotels. I figure there are so many things happening around the world that attempt against ones vacation that one must be like Nostradamus to prepare for them all.

Personally I'm a long term vacation planner and the reason why is to always get the best deal quality / cost. But first is quality which it's not always the cheapest; that only leaves us to one big vacation every 2 years averaga. A big vacation to me is any vacation away from my own country which requires a lot of logistics and security away from home.

For example: in ordet to pick the hotels for this Med vacation I even went into Google Earth and virtually walked the streets around them just to make sure they're according to my expectations - NO SURPRISES.

I understand that money talks and that Disney is a Corporation that has to achive profitable goals for the share holders but there are ways to do things and there's the right way to do things. Just because you are protected by a legal document it doesn't matter they/you have to take advantage of it and maybe abuse of it.

We in the Aug 20th Euro Med Cruise really dodged a big one if you consider how they must have went to make a decision on which of the 7 night Med cruises they needed to sacrifice. I'm sure all 7 nighters were on the table and then started to choose which was the most reasonable choice until they finally must have come to a fianal decision probably based on occupancy and of course profitability.

With that said, all I can do is to streach my solidarity with the Sep 3 cruisers/peeps and to offer as much confort as posible if any of them chooses the Aug 20th week.

Finally before you make a decision first cool down and think of the whole family, specially the children.

No problems Maza, yeah scarves might be a good move.

Back in May/2010 I wrote here requireing info on which gadget I should get to carry around Europe and in the cruise:

I'm planning on buying some sort of internet browser device. This to take with me on the cruise and all over Europe. The only use for it is going to be dowloading pictures, E:mailing and web brosing.

I really like the i Pad, but it is really kind of expensive. My next choice is a mini note book; not so expensive but the screens are too small

Well I went and did what I was not going to do: :rolleyes1

Today I bought an iPad :yay: and it's awsome :woohoo: What a wanderfull gadget it is. I've only had it for 2 hours and already had my first fight over it with DD. At the end she will win considering she already knows how to use it and probably charge me iPad usage hours to help me. :rotfl2:

Actually it's not that different to what I'm used to and it really meets what we need it for, specially while traveling in Europe. It has a great Map Application which will come handy.

I know theres a new one comming out very soon (iPad 2) but I'm not so fond of video-chat just yet; besides you need anther video chat person to make it work - Not for Me.

Anyway I think this little thing and me are going to go hand by hand to many places. Oh and I'm writing on the Diss on it.

On our first nice to have Euro Vacation Itinerary we were planning on stayin one more night after the cruise in Barcelona, and flying back on sunday. :)

Now I don't know but I've been told, that sundays in Barcelona are very good for your soul :lmao:

Also very local traditional and very nice to just hung around the city, even maybe see a football/soccer exhibition game (we will be there off season - Go Barza) :cool2:; sooo, we are staying one more night and will be flying on monday; just a 24 hour vacation strech.:yay:

Also, airports on sundays are very, very busy and lots of passengers going in and out and lots of luggage left behind :scared1:, and...... well you get the message.;)

So for the better and for spendig a nice sunday in Barcelona we are staying one more night.

It also allowes us go party all saturday night :rotfl2:
