Escape to Neverland - A new Tagliarchy adventure!!

Today I am taking the boys to the dentist and baking cookies for the cookie exhange tonight..Then tomorrow is my family on the t'day dinner so I get to make stuff all over again..

A cookie exchange, that sounds good :thumbsup2. Why don't we get fun things like that over here. All we get is bad weather and extortionate prices :sad2:

A friend of mine.. actually her kids are the same age as mine and my youngest and her youngest were friends when they were little.. anyway, she has an annual cookie/ornament and white elphant exchange.. it is for the moms only and is quite fun. Since the kids are older, I only see the other moms at the party.. I bought a very nice oranment for the exchange and then found a microwave french fry cooker thingy in the basement for the white elephant.. now I need to bake 8 dozen cookies..

the way it works is that everyone brings 8 dz cookies and then at the end of the night.. we all take 3 or so of each home..

BTW we have bad weather and extortionate prices too

So with Christmas films, do you all just watch actual Christmas films, about Christmassy things? Or does anyone have other films that they associate with Christmas that they have to watch this time every year?

See 2 years ago I was sitting at home on a Sunday afternoon and they were playing lots of films for Christmas. I was sitting on the floor wrapping all my millions of presents in my lovel color coordinating (and of course Disney paper), and they played Twister. Now this was the first time I had ever seen it, and not only did I think it was a great film it reminded me so much of Universal and our amazing WDW vacation. I sat there drinking coke out of the glass Christmas bottles (there is something about drinking it out of a Christmas bottle that makes it taste so much better) and it just felt so festive. Now that film reminds me of Christmas so I have to watch it every year whilst I am wrapping my presents and drinking Christmas coke.

Does anyone else do anything like this :confused3

Hi everyone,
Last night my best friends came around and we all decorated my Disney christmas tree together which was really nice. Here is a couple of pics:

My favourite decorations, the 3 Disney Castles, Disneyland, WDW and Disneyland Paris!!

I just need to work on the other trees now, although outside will have to wait until next weekend as Pete's school got the inspection phone call on Friday so he is busy doing school stuff this weekend (he is even going in there tomorrow to work.)

Slo Thanks for the nice things you said about me! I posted your card last week so you should recieve it soon.

Ariel What part of the UK are you from? I'm in the Midlands in Northamptonshire, but I am origionally from Leeds.

It sounds like you all had a nice Thanksgiving, I talked to my class about it on Thursday seen as we are studying North America.

Today I have been Christmas shopping and the shopping centre was so busy. Luckily I got what I needed and got out of there in under 3 hours so not bad going really!! Usually we do our Christmas shopping in our week of school in October, but seen as we were at Disneyland Paris then this year we had to put it off until later. Then we just seemed to get busy!!

Well, I'm off to decorate another tree!!

Your Christmas tree looks great, I love all the Disney decorations, especially the lights. And the different castle ornaments are so cute, I love the idea of collecting them from the different parks, I already have a DLP one :thumbsup2

I am in the South East now but originally come from Devon, which I absolutely love.

The lights my best friends got me from WDW. DH had to convert the voltage on them so I could use them in the UK!!

So with Christmas films, do you all just watch actual Christmas films, about Christmassy things? Or does anyone have other films that they associate with Christmas that they have to watch this time every year?

I know what you're talking about! I watch musicals during the holidays even though they aren't Christmas related or anything

Ah my favorite movie of all time is Sound of Music... I just love everything about it. And I love Julie Andrews so that helps. I love the newer ones too like Moulin Rouge, the new Chicago and Mamma Mia... there just so fun.

I love musicals too, I'm in a musical theatre group. I have been in Singing in the Rain (we hired in the set used when it was on in the west end of London, on the last night the stage crew didn't join the rain catching thing together properly so all the water fell off the stage and into the musicians in the pit!!) We have done the Sound of Music too, I was a nun!! My favourite musical so far to be in is probably Oliver. I've played in the orchestra for Les Miserables too which was really good too.
I do panto every year too (UK folkes will know what that is!!) This year we are doing Cinderella.

Today we are going to the mall to get the girls Christmas pictures taken, and then for them to see Santa, and to get their picture taken with him too. I have such a love/hate relationship with this day. I hate it, because of the stress of getting the girls looking all Christmasey and perfect, rushing to the mall, and thinking of the perfect Christmas items to bring from home to put in the picture with the girls (the props at Sears stink). I love it, because the pictures always turn out great, and people love them. One year, Sears used one for their example in the studio - I was very flattered!!!!!:goodvibes

This is Stephanie's first year of sitting on Santa's lap as a "non-believer":guilty: To back peddle a little - Stephanie asked me to give her the truth about the Easter Bunny on Easter Eve:eek: I was honest with her, because now that she has had her first communion, I really want her to focus on the real reason for Easter more than the Easter Bunny. Right after she turned 10 (this year) I told her that I was going to be honest with her with more things, because I feel she is older, and she is mature enough to handle it (I really want an open line of communication between us, and I want her to know that when she asks me a question, I'll answer with honesty (w/ discretion (sp?) of course) ). So the first thing she asked me, about 5 minutes later, was about Santa. So I answered her honestly, and told her that it was Kevin and I. She basically already knew (from friends at school), but just needed it confirmed by me. I told her though, that if she told her sister, that I would be so mad, and then Santa gifts would be over forever. I told her that if she keeps her sister believing, that there's a strong possibility, that she'll still get gifts from Santa when she's driving:thumbsup2 I also told her, that telling friends who believe is totally forbidden (her best friend is 8, and is still a strong believer, and her mother would like to understandebly keep it that way). I also told her how much I love the spirit of Santa, and that now she can just have fun with it. She's still acting like she believes in Santa, which makes me happy, that she can still have fun with Christmas:santa: It also makes me happy, because Katie won't get any negative vibes from her, to make her an early non-believer. I don't know if any of you remember me talking about how I have The Polar Express bell (one for each girl), and I've been waiting for the perfect time to give it to each DD. This is the perfect year for Stephanie!!! The bell will be tucked somewhere that she won't see it until all Santa gifts are open, and then there it will be. A symbol on how even though she doesn't believe in the actual person anymore, that the spirit of Santa and Christmas is in her heart, and as long as she hears the bell, it will always remain in her heart :goodvibes

Ariel - I love Christmas too :santa: I have my own business, and even though I love my business, it takes a little of the fun out of Christmas for me, because I have to work so much. I'm hoping that after the store is a little older, and I have more business and employees, that I can spend a little more time at home during the holidays.
**That a great story about the movie Twister:) I don't have any non-Christmas movies that remind me of Christmas, but maybe I will someday.

geffric - Thanksgiving all over again :faint: Good luck with all that cooking:wizard: (can I come over, I can never eat to much Thanksgiving food)

Danauk - No need to thank me, we do love you!!!!!:grouphug:
**Your tree looks great!!!!!:goodvibes I love your ornaments too - very nice!!!! I have many many ornaments from WDW that I just love!!!!:goodvibes I buy new ones every year, and in fact, 1/2 of my ornaments are all from WDW now. Many I buy with the intent to give to the girls when they move away, and get their own tree. Then my tree will be 1/2 naked, and that'll give me a reason to go back to WDW to buy more :teeth:
**You just made me realize that I need to buy Christmas cards:eek: I haven't even thought of it. I better order those this week, so I can get them in time.

Well, it's time for me to jump into shower, and then get the girls up, and fed. Both of them are having their up with fake hair today, so I don't have to stress out to much about that (unlike other years when I curled it). I bought Stephanie new fake hair, at a hair supply place, and it wasn't cheap, but it looks great!!! I can hardly wait to put it on her - it'll look like I spent hours on her hair, and I really didn't;)

Have a good day everyone!!

Morning Taglikins & WELCOME Ariel!

I'm planning on a quiet day at home today (with a few chores possibly being accomplished). With four days of company last week and three days of this long weekend spent celebrating/working/shopping, I'm ready to veg for a day. We are having beautiful weather, so I might have to do lunch out on a restaurant patio however. ;)

ibouncetoo You are making me envious!! Lunch on the patio in nice weather sounds lovely right now. Of course here in the UK it is 36 degrees and raining right now!!

Slo I hope you have fun getting the pictures done, I am sure they will turn out great. Stephanie is sure growing into a lovely young woman with her attitude towards 'grown up' things now. It is so nice she is still pretending for Katie.

Well today I had hoped to get out into the garden to cut some of the ivy down to dry it out and use it as christmas decoration around the house. I got the idea from my inlaws. It looks great if you cut lengths and put them above pictures, on shelves etc. But as it has rained all day that will have to wait until next weekend!!

Danuk - Thats really great your in a musical theater group, it must be so much fun, I love things like that. When I was younger, well actually about 6-7 years ago, I was in a childrens theater group. We used to put on one main musical a year and then do little shows for christmas, children in need etc. I always loved it so much, although singing is definitely not my strong point, but I loved the dancing and would often choreograph. My first show was Guys and Doll's which was great, and Half a Sixpence.
I love pantomimes, I used to go every year with my Grandad and it was such an integral part of Christmas for us. Its a shame we don't really go anymore, I used to love them, Aladdin was always my favorite.

ibouncetoo - Thank you for the welcome :goodvibes

I hope you have a nice relaxing day. I wish we were having nice weather here, but its just dark and gloomy :sad1:

Slo - I hope you can still enjoy christmas lots, even with your business.
I love hearing about your children's pictures, you have such cool things over there, especially around Christmas. I hope we get to see them :thumbsup2
Thats good that Stephanie is still pretending for Katie. My little sister is 12 and I'm not sure if she still believes. She is pretty young for her age, she still loves to dress up in princess dresses, and is not like most children, she really doesn't want to grow up. I don't want to ask her because then she will be suspicious if she still does believe, but since she goes to High School I think she has probably been told or heard from others.

Ariel I've done Guys and Dolls and Half a Sixpence too! We did Aladdin as our panto last year and many years ago that was the 1st show I did with our company. The guy who played the genie played it in a Yorkshire accent, he was hillarious! Our company is really lucky as we rehearse and perform in a professional theatre so although we are an amateur group our shows are usually quite professional. Unfortunately the local council is closing our theatre next year and knocking it down. The good news is that they are already building a brand new one which we will be able to use!! I'm a musician mainly so I play in the orchestras quite a bit for shows too, but I also love being in the cast on the stage, although I am more of a singer than an actress. Actually my acting skills leave a lot to be desired, I'm usually just in the chorus although I have had a few main rolls (good fairy in the panto one year, back on of the cow the next! And no I'm not joking!!)

Ohhhhhh...I was planning on hacking off some ivy today...think I'll give this a try. Oh, I guess that means I'll have to clean my house if I'm going to decorate...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Danuk - Back end of a cow, OMG that is so funny :lmao:. He he I have never met anyone before that has been a back end of a cow .

See I am the the same but opposite (if that makes sense). I was in the chorus quite a lot as although I can act and dance, I cannot sing, so that was any main parts out for me. One year I did actually have a main part and managed to blag the singing bit, I dont know how :confused3. But I loved being in the chorus because they were always the dancers, and I was usually the lead and choreographer :dance3:

Thats so cool you get a new theater, I bet it will be really nice :thumbsup2

I have a feeling that i'll be at the airport for a while with all this snow :rotfl:
