ER gets me all emotional sometimes (espcially when it involves children), but tonight's episode is different...can you imagine being the stroke victim? What a living hell it would be to understand eveything going on around you and have no way to move or communicate. Very scary indeed. :sad2:

I love this show...

Very scary, for sure. :scared1:

I love this show too. Though I wish I saw more of Carter... and I don't like the social worker lady, his new love interest. Somebody just please make Carter happy!!!

Cynthia Nixon is the guest star today. I think moms will feel this one! it's pretty scary.

I hope I don't cry tonight. ;) ER tends to tug at my tear ducts :p

Is that the girl from Sex and the City?

Yep - that's her. Quite a different role.

I don't think I would want to survive and live that way...I have chills thinking about it.... :(

Might as well make this statement....

A few things that increase your risk for a stroke:
* Tobacco use
* High cholesterol levels
* Inactive lifestyle
* High blood pressure
* Diabetes
* Heavy alcohol use
* Atrial fibrillation, which is an unsteady heart rhythm (say: ay-tree-all fib-rill-ay-shun)

A few things to do to help prevent a stroke:
* Get your blood pressure checked regularly and get treatment if it is high. High blood pressure is a "silent" illness with no warning signs.
* If you smoke--stop! Ask your family doctor for ways to help you quit.
* Eat low-fat foods, and have your cholesterol levels checked by your family doctor.
* Exercise regularly--for at least 30 minutes on most days of the week.
* Keep your weight under control. If you are overweight, lose weight.
* If you have diabetes, control your blood sugar levels. Controlling your diabetes will help your heart, kidneys, eyes, and brain.

Watch yourselves folks...

I'm glad I'm not the only one freaked out by it. My father had a massive stroke when he was 49, so this is always on my mind even though I'm young. I haven't watched ER in years and this is what's on...yikes!

Kinda brought back memories for me (not to that extent though). I had an endoscopy done back in the late 80's and they "supposedly" sadated me with this valium solution etc....well I felt and remembered EVERYTHING!!!...With that big old "tube" going down my throat I couldn't say anything....I started to grab the Dr arm and then they stapped my arms down!!!!! It was awful!!!! When I was done the doctors and nurses were amazed when I told them everything that they did to me and their conversations....everyone else that had the procedure before me were out like a light in the little recovery room they had......I NEVER want to go through that again!!!! (my mom has to have one every year and says she never remembers a thing about it!!)

im watching it and it is scary. i would NEVER want to be like that. to live the rest of my life mentally fine but physically paralyzed. i would go crazy not being able to communicate. i feel so bad for her.

One of my sister's had a good friend that had a stroke pretty young. She was a neo-natel nurse before but never really recovered. Has severe Apraxia still, can't speak clearly and often has trouble thinking of words.

I've had to stop watching. It is way too depressing and scary. Thanks Chad for those warning signs, thankfully I am good on all of those things. Someone post later and tell me how the show ends tonight. I think I need to stick with light type shows for a while. Have a great night everyone!!!

Good ending at least, but I doubt it would work out that well every time, gotta get the cholestrol meds!

Oh wow that brought tears to my eyes. That was definitely a very moving episode.

I love ER, I can't miss an episode but today was scary... I keep thinking how getting your kids out the door to school is something every Mom takes for granted.

But on a funny note if I was going to have a stroke that would be the time... I have some slow girls in the morning. ;)

Can someone PM me a spoiler please? I missed the last 10 minutes....ARG.....

Thanks!
