Ok, first off technically I have been back for a week now. I was in WDW from Sept 20th to Sept 27th. For those of you who will be reading this that don't know me already my name is Jon, I am 30 years old and I have been to WDW several times in the past. I think like 15 to 20 times. On this trip I went for a week with My bro James, my sis in law Laci, Friends Heather and Robbie, and their son Jett who is six. There were originally going to be another family of friends joining us but they had to drop out from the trip which leads to the first story I guess of this trip.
If you have spoken with me in the chat room before you might know that the original plans for this trip was suppose to be a week at the AKL in a two bedroom suite with all of the adults on the trip splitting the cost of the room. Well, when Toby and Kristen dropped out that put a kink in the plans because it was going to be a bit steep for the rest of us to make up the price difference. Unfortunately this led to the cancellation of at Kidani. I was really looking forward to that as well. Needless to say this put the first cloud over my head personally.
So anyway that brings me to where we actually did stay. Given the amount of time and space still needed at such a short notice we ended up staying off property. Now the place we stayed was a place called Royal Parc Suites. A place that was recently renovated and taken over by Quality. We had two rooms. Both were one bedroom suites and were only about 69 dollars a night. That should have been the first clue.
So we are going down in two vehicles right. Robbie has just discovered how good a GPS can be after previous criticism of them and is pretty much using one for the first time. I have mine with us in our vehicle as well. So the GPS is taking us east on 192 just as it should and we are coming up on our destination. Well it tells us to turn right. Now normally I would just trust when it says turn but I did have it take me to a turn that would have put me in the river so I was looking for some signage for the hotel. So we end up turning one road past were the turn is actually suppose to be and are still looking for something that says Royal Parc Suites. Robbie's wife Heather made these reservations so I am clueless thus far that this hotel is presented by Quality. Anyway, she looks on the Paper and discovers this and we all saw a sign that said Quality Suites but that was all. The only mark on the outside of the hotel itself is a court jester.(go figure) Apparently this is because it is suppose to have some sort of Mardi Gras theme.(this will somewhat come into play later)
So, once we get checked in my bro has the slip with the key cards in it and directs us to room 426 when the slip actually said 436. So we are there trying to get in to room 426 with the wrong key card. My sis in law Laci has swiped the key twice and the light flashes red both times and yet she is able to open the door. So we go in anyway and think hey this is pretty nice. Well, it was a bit more spacious and that was mostly because it was a two bedroom suite. We didn't realize this though and we have brought a good bit of our luggage in the room. Well, James and Laci have already gone back to get their last bit I start to go out the room and run into Heather and she tells me that we were side by side and that her room number is 435. Now I am outside of the room and have shut the door with our luggage inside and guess what? That's right now we can't get in. So we go to the front desk to tell the guy that checked us in what happened. After he got over the initial look of horror on his face he went with us in the room to get our luggage and it was no problem. Fortunately, it wasn't a room that was already in use. Only thing I can figure is that housekeeping forgot to shut the door all the way. Either way it doesn't really give you a good feeling.
Wow, I can't believe all that I have typed and am not out of arrival day yet lol. So we pretty much just hang out the rest of this evening. The only time we left the Hotel that evening was for dinner and that was at an Italian place called Pacino's. It was the worst meal of the trip. Nothing memorable about the food at all. Service was nothing special either. You can tell it was in tourist central though because they took your picture and try to sell it to you. I can't believe that anyone has bought one before, but I guess they still try it for a reason. The rest of the evening is spent in the hotel pool which was nice that evening. However, it would be the only time I personally set foot in the pool.(again I shall probably mention something about that later as well)
