So, for planning a childless cocktail evening one night on our week long trip, are there any neat bars in Downtown Disney? I was there once 5 or 6 years ago and it seemed pretty hopping at Pleasure Island.

Or would we have more fun just going to Epcot and doing a little drinking tour around World Showcase, followed by Illuminations?

Definitely World Showcase and Illuminations. Plenty there to drink and eat, and a lovely setting and fireworks for bonus. And you can always ride the boats in Mexico or Norway if you feel so inclined. :)

My vote is World Showcase, followed by Illuminations! There are drinks for every taste - be it Prosecco from Italy, Grey Goose Slushies from France, Beer from Germany or Norway, Tequila in Mexico - the list goes on and on!

hate to tell you but Pleasure Island closed a number of years ago. Only a few number of places left that include. HOB, raglan rd and Bongos. You should consider Boardwalk it has Belle Vue Lounge, Jelly Rolls, ESPN, Atlantic. Also being around Epcot there's going over to Yatch Club that has some nice small lounges

WS for sure lots of great places to get drink and watch illuminations. Some places of course at DDT but pleasure island is closed and not like years back when to was the place to be sadly

We had fun years ago in Pleasure island. Drinking, dancing, shooting pool going to the adventurer club. All that stuff long gone. World showcase is different but probably better than pleasure island ever was.

Thanks everyone. I was actually leaning towards Epcot myself but wanted to confirm it. I will also check out the options at the Boardwalk area. Didn't think about that.

My vote goes to DTD or Boardwalk. It's true that Pleasure Island is no more, but Splitsville has two nice bar areas with entertainment, and we also like Bongos and Raglan Road. There's still options. The Boardwalk gets rave reviews from Jellyrolls, which is a lot of fun.

I would say start with the WS and then walk over to the Boardwalk after IllumiNations. If you still want to drink, head into JellyRolls (but expect to lose track of time). If you have had enough to drink at the WS, still head over to the Boardwalk and just take in the sites, sounds, smells and some of the entertainers. There is also the Boardwalk Bakery, the pizza window and a funnel cake stand to soak up some of the alcohol. There is nothing like funnel cake and people watching on the Boardwalk after an evening of drinking.
