Traveling with DH, DS 7, DS 3 and 1st timers SIL, BIL and DS 6.

We are going to have dinner at Whispering Canyon one evening. We plan to do EPCOT that day. How long would it take to take the "scenic" route to WL---- monorail to TTC, change monorails, monorail to MK, boat to WL

Would this be rediculous? We are not staying at a monorail resort and this would really be the only time they would get to experience it?? Would this be way too much time???? Would the 1st timers think I'm crazy and wasting their time??

It could be fun or a long wait. the boat is very nice with a few drawbacks. Depending on the time of day you might have to wait 10-15 min for a boat. Second and the most annoying is that sometimes they go to FW first and that takes up time also. Just be sure to leave enough time or else you will want to jump off the boat! Arriving to the lodge by boat is very pretty and taking the boat back to MK at night is beautiful and I think your group will love it, just leave enough time. Have a good trip!

Since you want the opportunity to ride the monorail this certainly would be the way to go. However, I would say give yourself at least and hour and a half travel time, from the time you exit Epcot.

I'd take the bus to the WL for dinner. After dinner, I'd take the boat to the Contemporary, board the monorail there (fun to see the monorail arrive inside the CR) and then change to the EPCOT monorail at the TTC. From EPCOT, I'd just grab the bus back to my resort.

Best wishes-

I second at least part of this advice. However, I wouldn't go to the CR. I'd just take the boat to MK, if it's still running at that time, then hop on a bus to your resort from the MK bus stop. Riding the monorail, while fun, can really take a long time if you're transferring from some other mode of transportation. The boat ride from WL to MK should provide plenty of scenery for that day, and you can choose a more opportune time to ride the monorail, when it's more integral to getting somewhere. I bet another monorail opportunity will come up during your trip.
