Epcot on our first day?

We did Epcot our first afternoon. We had lunch, then pics at the Character Spot. Then we rode Soarin, Test Track, Finding Nemo, Spaceship Earth, then back to our resort for an early ADR. We had fun, but it was our only chance to visit Epcot since we wanted to spend our other 3 days at other parks. I would not recommend the Electric Umbrella, at least not the chicken caesar salad there. We only went there because I didn't think my son would eat anything more exotic, and we were so hungry! We had planned to stop for a fast food lunch before entering the park, but there seemed to be nothing close to the Disney World Complex.

Hmm...yes I see your point. I realize that most table service restaurants need to be booked ahead....what are the chances of Garden Grill having space for walk ups in the last week of August, especially if we went a bit early (eg. 4:45 or 4:30)?

I would guess you have a pretty good chance. The good thing is, even if you can't find a table, there is a very good quick service location right next to Garden Grill called Sunshine Seasons. One of the best in the WDW parks, and certainly Epcot.

FYI, both of those eating locations are right in the same building with Soarin.

If you're o.k. with either option, you can be very flexible.

Epcot is a great start to a trip coming in later in the day. If you can book FP+ for some of the attractions you can get on Soarin or Test Track and maybe catch the other standby. Epcot has so many dining options.

You be the judge if you can stay late enough to see Illuminations but you might be better off calling it a night early and coming for fireworks another night.

Garden Grill books fast for the character dinner so make sure you get ADRs 180 days ahead if you can.
