We've seen the masks and the stations a lot, but never have taken the time for DS to stop and do anything. How do these work? Do they take a lot of time? Can you start the whole mask at any one of the stations? What kind of projects do the kids do?

DS and I are hoping to spend some time together with the two of us on our next trip and I thought it would be a great thing to explore together while DH isn't with us. He loved getting his Discovery Kids card at DAK last trip and wanted to get the stamps everywhere so I know he'd love this.

Thanks in advance for any advice, stories, comments you may have!

(ahem)

personally, i suggest reading/reviewing http://kidcot.stitchkingdom.com

but although the site does address it, yes, you can start and stop anywhere you'd like.

masks (and/or the passport) in world showcase, lanyards in future world. the site covers all of that though including locations at each pavilion and much more.

My DD4 loved this and chose to go back and finish her mask and all the worlds on our last (open)day of vacation. She liked coloring it with other kids and showing off her poster she recieved for finishing all the worlds. You can start at any of the stations and we had a good time trying to find them all.

Me and my girls love doing the masks at Epcot!!! :goodvibes

We travel from country to country exploring them while trying to find the Kidcot stations. Once there, they color their mask, add some trinkets to them, get the stamp from the country, and the kids can ask the cast member from each country to write their names in that countries language (due to space we normally only do China, Japan, and a few others). They really are great, and keeps the kids excited about being in the World Showcase. We've done one each year since 2000, and my kids will continue to them as long as the Kidcot station exist :goodvibes

One suggestion from my daughter-in-law. It's better to split up the completion of the mask over two days. If you try and do it all in one day, you'll miss being able to check out the pavilions on your own as an adult. The child does the mask, is happy and wants to move on. He/she isn't interested in staying that pavilion for very long. If you split it up over two days, do the mask at every other pavilion and then do "adult" things at the others. Switch off the second day.
