Epcot? Im not feeling the magic...

Future world needs to stop being Past World. Other than than, Epcot is our favourite park for sightseeing. MK is always too busy to really stop and enjoy it, so I guess it's my second-fav, although for me it truly is quintessential Disney and I would feel like I hadn't been at DisneyWorld until I went to MK.

I will also disagree with you. Epcot is my entire families favourite park too. My parents love World Showcase whereas me and my brother love Future World (especially Test Track, Mission:SPACE and Ellen's Energy Adventure!). The park is absolutely beautiful, love the monorail through the park, it might be a bit spread out but that definitely helps it to cope with the crowds better, particularly after (the best part of an Epcot day I may add...) Illuminations!! They are right up there with Wishes! fireworks. Absolutely stunning. Don't have a bad word to say about Epcot really. Everything down to the loop music is perfect. Even now, I haven't been there since 2008 and I find myself walking round the house humming the loop music!!! Can just see myself settling down to watch Illuminations from our favourite spot, cup of Coke and a churro....:lovestruc ;)

Epcot is my favorite park although I wish they'd do something different with Innoventions East and West. I would also like to see a new country or 2 added to the World Showcase.

I LLLOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEE Epcot. Defo my fave park. Ok, so you may not get the same Disney magic you get at mk but the rides they have are great and world showcase is my all time favourite place to visit in wdw. Maybe if you have little interest in food, drink and culture then I can see it not being that interesting.

But for me, it'll always be number 1.

I have to agree with this especially. We go to The World every two years, and it continues to amaze how little EPCOT is updated or changed. It really shocks me how Disney seems to get away with charging so much and giving so little in terms of refurbs and change in Future World. Don't get me wrong, World Showcase is absolutely breathtaking, and the attention to detail is incredible, but with every trip I take, Disney seems to be spending less and less time and detail in Future World (props to Sum Of All Thrills) AND Studios, which we were totally DONE with by 11:30 one day. We used to take 9 day trips and go back to all the parks repeatedly, but we have scaled back because there just isn't enough in the Studios or Future World to lure us back.

Epcot is my favorite park as well.
On my next trip, I am spending there 2 full days, and still I won't manage to see all the wonderful entertainment (not to mention to take pictures of all the topiaries, it will be Flower and Garden time!)

OP, maybe you focus on rides only, and that's why you don't get it.
Try and see the entertainment: too many people miss it ir just happen to catch only 1 or 2 performances.
Try snacking around the world, Kidcot passports if you have kids, a Kim Possible mission, touring the gardens... or the characters... (depending on your interests). There's plenty to enjoy!

That said, my favorite WDW ride is Soarin :lovestruc, and Crush and American Adventure are 2 of my favorite shows.

Epcot has been my favorite park since I was 3 years old  My mom and I actually spent an entire trip at Epcot every day when I was 6 because I refused to go to any other park  It's her favorite too, so she didn't mind too much.

Ok...My Headline Sounds Pretty To The Point..
I Do Totally And Wholeheartedly Admit That Epcot Has Not Been The Same Since They Destroyed HORIZONS And World Of Motion...Spaceship Earth With Walter Cronkite And The Song "Tomorrow's Child"...A Favorite They Should Bring Back...Even The Original World Of Energy...Classic...Living Seas ?
It's True Epcot Is Not The Same...
But Atleast We Have Retro Videos Of Our Favorite Rides Still To View, Thankfully

To be fair, Epcot has lost quite a bit of its luster over the years. The park seems run-down as a whole with the loss of World of Motion, Wonders of Life, Horizons, Journey Into Imagination, the original Living Seas, and the original Spaceship Earth theming.

Epcot in the mid-90s simply could not be beat.

So well said! Bravo. Now THAT was EPCOT!

I can understand what the OP is saying. When we were there with friends about 10 years ago, all they wanted to do was ride rides. I tried explaining to them that EPCOT was more about "The Show" and that there was alot of good entertainment, but I just never got through to them.

Now with FW having Test Track, Mission Space, Seas with Nemo, Spaceship Earth and Soarin all completed in the last few years they are well on their way to rehabbing FW. I agree that Wonders of Life, Imagination Pavillion and Universe of Energy are starting to really feel dated. I hope that there may be things in the works after Fantasyland is done. Afterall, if you believe the rumors, there should be a bunch of cash on hand when Avatarland goes down the tubes.

It seems that there is always something going on at EPCOT from the F&G, F&W and Holidays around the World. Perhaps you would like it better if you visited during one of those times.

My family loves Epcot. Many say it's too old/adult for young kids, but mine have always loved it. As they get older (ages 9 & 4), they continue to like it even more.

Epcot is my least favorite park for rides. I really love World Showcase though. Future World is really not nearly what it should be for the money Disney has and the scope of immersion they have in the other parks. You've got Test Track, which is great. Mission Space, which is a very good addition, but a lot of people can't ride it. Then you have Soarin', which is a five minute IMAX movie (the worst looking one you've ever seen) where your seat moves slightly. Then you have a bunch of mediocrity. The Ellen thing, The Seas With Nemo, Imagination? Awful. Empty buildings just sitting there. It's not nearly what it should be.

Does anyone else feel abit let down by Epcot?

Yes. Future World is starting to get worn out, and World Showcase is a glorified international themed outside mall.

What do you think they could do to improve it?

They should take the Wonders of Life pavilion and rehab it into something with rides. They should add more rides to World Showcase.

OP - I think a lot of people would agree with you, but you are not going to find them on a Disney World fan site.

Mexico has a ride.
Norway has a ride.
China has a movie and performers.
The American Pavillion has a movie/show and performers.
Morocco has performers.
Japan has performers.
France has a movie and performers.
Great Britian has performers.
Canada has awesome performers and a movie.

Just a mall? I don't think so!:)

Epcot is our favorite too...but it wasn't when I was a child. With my extremely limited attention span, if I wasn't riding a ride I felt cheated! Now that I am a "big girl" I very much "get it" and have found a whole new level of appreciation for what it is. I could spend a whole trip just in Epcot! Sure I'd love to see them keep plussing it as long as it retains the feel and flavor of what it is now.

Well, OP I guess you got yr answer! We also love EPCOT, but if everyone liked the same thing, each park would be too crowded.

You all have brought up an interesting point, tho: My family loves Future World, but we all agree its so dated. !! But, my kids would be so disappointed if they gutted it and didn't keep the cheesy rides.

I wonder if others think the cheesiness is part of the charm, or is it so dated they can't stand it?
