If my DH and I want to sneak over to catch Illuminations...say after dinner...is there a 'discounted' admission? Surely they wouldn't expect us to pay full price for a day pass at that time

I know sometimes they offer after 4 passes for people there with conventions, but I do not think they offer it for anyone else.

Sorry...no discounted passes available just for watching fireworks. From the Boardwalk area, you can see most of the higher fireworks though.

My DH is there for a convention...that might be our 'ticket' ;) Thanks! Do you know if you have to ask for those?

My understanding is that the organization holding the convention has to make arrangements for "after 2" or "after 4" passes to be available to their attendees. Typically, if they have made such arrangements, there will be information included in the convention packet that the attendees receive. I'd recommend checking your husband's paperwork or having him contact the organizer of the convention to ask whether these will be offered.

We could see alot of Illuminations from our room at the Dolphin. If you are able to ask for an Epcot view, you may be able to see some of it.

We were in room 19101 and had views of Epcot and MGM. It was spectacular.

In addition to checking your convention pamphlet, as suggested by PammyK, see if the convention you're attending has a web site. I go to a convention every year and am able to request the tickets via web form and have them waiting for me in my arrival packet at my hotel. My vendor provides the packet, so I'm not sure the actual cost, but the "value" listed on the ticket was some odd number, like $33.50.

They're neat passes. I wish Disney would offer them. When you arrive mid-afternoon, it's neat to have a "short day" and have a bit of magic plus a good meal.

Note: I've never seen these offered any place but Epcot. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but I never heard of them otherwise.

You'll be glad to know that my wife is a pampered little puppy! She's an athlete and takes pretty good care of herself. We're mighty excited to finally have a legacy.

FYI, I'm an IS consuiltant by trade. The convention is a rather boring affair held by a vendor of a software company I recommend. I never learn anything new, and thanks to high-speed internet I can get most of the training and updates I need right from my home office. But hey: if they want to send me each year, what the heck? It used to be my "personal" time. This year, I'm taking my wife and unborn child with me in what I hope becomes a trend! And I promise, we'll walk slow, take many rests, and drink lot's of water. And no roller coasters. :p

I looked on the conference website and found a number for discount tickets.

My choices are:
1. After 2pm to one park-$39.00
2. All day/1 day/1 park- $95.45
3. All day/2day/Park Hopper-$95.45

Are these good deals? What are the 'normal' prices for #1 and #2? I have bought packages on my two previous trips. Anyone?

Perhaps I'm a little confused. My opinions and my question:

Option #1: It's about the "right price." Whether it's good or not is up to interpretation. My after-four passes are always about $33, so six bucks for a couple more hours sounds about right. Note that a "regular" day pass is $53.25 (I think). So if you don't have the whole day (most of my conferences run through lunch), then it's a great deal. On the other hand, if you've got all day, why not go all day, if the cash is there? That brings up my confusion....

Option #2: Do you mean $95.45 for a 1 day/1 park pass, or $45.45? I sure wouldn't pay ninety five bucks for a one day pass, but I'm assuming it's a typo. So it's a pretty simple equation. What's five hours more in the park worth to you? You can get in at nine instead of two with the 1 day/1park pass. I'd need to know the price to know if it's a good one. But know that anything over ten percent off list (which again is $53.25) is considered "good."

Option #3: Now this is a horse of a different color. Two single park passes would cost $106.50. They're giving you a two day hopper for about $95. That's a good deal. Number one, it's well over ten percent off list for two days in the park. Number two, it's not a ticket available on the regular market. The smallest hopper pass Disney sells is a four day, although there are places that sell three day (that would cost you about $160, give or take). Let me know if the three day pass interests you.

If it's me, I go with the two day hopper. You get two full days for a bargain price, and you don't limit yourself to one park. This allows you to visit three or four of the parks in two days, which is nice. And if you're at MGM and you get bored (unlikely) or the crowds get too heavy (a better potential reality), you go out the front gate, hope on a nice air-conditioned boat, and twenty minutes later you walk into Epcot.

So for flexibility and price, I'd say the first two options are what they are. The third options is a real deal.

Let me know if you want info on those three day passes. Are you at all interested in the "night life," meaning Pleasure Island? There are discounts out there, you just have to find them!

Thanks so much Pat! :D I am always amazed at the wealth of information on these boards!

The second ticket was a typo  It was suppose to be $53.25 (which I guess is 'list price' for that).

Thanks.
