***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

At least we only have to wait another 10 days ... that's not too bad! :thumbsup2

Wow us too but doesn't it seem to get to be a longer wait the closer it gets:confused3

Which means our trip is only 10 days away!! :yay: If no one else posts the food listings at the kiosks I will do so when I get home. I am not taking my laptop with me this trip so I can't do anything until October 2.

...you can tell some of the booths are new this year....I have to admit they had become tattered the last several years.

They sure do - most of the booths sit outside in the front, far left parking lot in the elements all year.

Anyone heard about anything selling out? I have GOT to get on the ball and call tomorrow LOL!

I am going to TRY to do the PFTS on 10/11 and the wine and cheese that afternoon. (Yes I know it's a lot, but.....)

You might want to hurry if not already too late. In years past you could still get reservations for the PFTS at the last minute but a friend called and they were going fast this year. He was calling for 10/18.

I hear the Louisanna booth is going to change biweekly showcasing different regional tastes - has anyone else heard any rumors?

NINE DAYS!! :cool1:

(I do hope the Oct 18 sells out so I can stop wondering if we should go this year!! and I'm going to regret it when I read all your wonderful reports and see the pics of what I missed out on!!)

Received an email from Tables in Wonderland, which says it comes from Disney Dining Experience, so they don't have it all together yet.

Anyway, they sent me the menu from Bocuse d'Or Gala because they're still trying like heck to get someone to spend $450 a head on it. They do emphasize that the $450 includes admission to Epcot on the 26th and 27th of September (which doesn't mean squat to an annual passholder like me)

I couldn't do it anyway as this is the last night the Adventurers Club will be open, which means far more to me than this menu does. But here it is in case it'll sway somebody else out there.

The only thing I've read is about the two 10-day temporary exhibits of Puglia and Greece, nothing about the New Orleans area changing. The NO area IS going to be one of the larger staging areas though.

I hopped on the phone and told my brother to book the 10/18 PftS today since he's been dawdling. Insane if it does sell out this early.

Edit: little brother got in. The Forever42 family will be invading the PftS this year!

That is wonderful (as in Tables in Wonderland) - but I do hope we have some one posting earlier so I can complete my notebooks....we are leaving on October 2nd - so we will not overlap....

I am excited...16 days for us!!!!!!!!

Time is going by fast, that's for sure. 9 days for us, and a last minute resort change due to Disney's Sept/Oct special has kept me busy! I think as of today all my ducks are in a row, though. :rotfl:

Yes I did hear or read about that somewhere! But for the life of me, I can't rememember where.:confused3 Chefs from different regions of the state are supposed to be working the booth.

Just found this!

:cool1:

The Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau board voted Wednesday to spend up to $50,000 to participate in a Louisiana Office of Tourism promotion at the 2008 Epcot International Wine and Food Festival at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.

The money comes from the bureau’s special projects account.

The Epcot festival will focus on Louisiana from Sept. 26 through Nov. 9. All regions of the state are being invited to become partners in the event.

Baton Rouge will anchor the final weekend of the festival, Nov. 2-9. The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, under the auspices of Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is organizing what is expected to be a major tourism initiative for the state.

Bureau President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Arrigo is serving as team leader for the Greater Baton Rouge area. He said area parishes that have agreed to partner with Baton Rouge include West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Iberville, Ascension, Livingston, Tangipahoa and the River Parishes.

Chuck Morse, assistant secretary of tourism, congratulated Arrigo and the board for being the first area of the first region to come aboard the project. He said, the Epcot festival “will put Louisiana in the spotlight and show the world that the state is open for business and second to none.”

Wednesday was the board’s first meeting in the BRCVB’s new bureau office at 359 Third St. Arrigo said a grand opening celebration is scheduled July 17.

I remembered where I read that! HERE! Thanks again, Kabuki!:thumbsup2

I apologize if this has been asked before, but is there something that Disney provides which lists all the events (paid and free) for each day of the festival? Since this is our first, it would be helpful to get a lay of the land so that we can plan out our days (obviously Disney is not giving us the opportunity to do that in advance).

If such a thing exists, where do I pick it up? If nothing printed is provided, where are the events posted?

Thanks so much.

In the past, a comprehensive Festival Guide was provided which listed all events for each day, with guests and schedules. It is available at Epcot as of the first day of the festival. You could pick it up at the festival center, or the World Showcase (hard to find one in the World Showcase last year though). Outside the places where the culinary and wine demonstrations were held, there would be a sign indicating the dish each presenter would prepare, or the wines to be tasted, for that day.

There is a rumor this year that there won't be a comprehensive festival guide, but either general information will be released with more specific information (identities of guest chefs, etc) released on a periodic basis like every week; there's also a rumor that the demo schedules will be posted only at the festival center this year. We don't know how it's going to turn out yet.

There's a thread on the Theme Parks board where a CM reports seeing the "booklet" Not a clue if it's what we are looking for, but a hopeful sign!

Last week I specifically asked Event Services if there would be an official festival guide book this year. I was told yes but it had not gone to the printer yet.

Well I FINALLY booked some stuff.
I hate the VOICE prompts!

I booked the Cheese Tasting and PFTS on 10/11. I will be solo so say Hi if you see me!

I didn't think to ask how the things were booking up, but if my first CM is an indicator I bet things are empty. He didn't have a clue what to do if it wasn't a resturant at Disney and disconnected me!!!!!

YEA! Thank you for some GREAT news! Makes my day!:cool1:
