EPCOT Energy Adventure-Days May be Numbered

Whatever they replace it with, my hope is that its something scientific/futeristic that fits in with Future World East. Epcot is our favorite park, just because its isn't MK, that we don't want to see it turn into MK-lite.

So people tend to think of Epcot as this beacon of education but it's really not. Spaceship Earth, kind of. Soarin really isn't, just a bunch of pictures of pretty places. Test Track isn't educational in the least. Mission Space isn't. Frozen sure as hell isn't. GOTG fits in well with the overall futuristic concept of Epcot.
I think that is what people want. Epcot was supposed to be a place of the future, not really about thrill rides. I think just as much as Animal Kingdom is about nature and such, Epcot should be about space and doing advancements and education, I think, and this is just my thoughts that is why they have the world showcase, to help educate about other parts of the earth. I like the idea of Epcot being about education and rides melded into one.

I had no idea this ride was even around anymore. It should've been in the same moving van as Captain EO.

The only Epcot closure that made me sad was World of Motion.

When I want thrill rides non-stop, I go to Universal. I want Epcot to retain its educational value but up the entertainment to keep people interested. Learning doesn't have to be boring. Universe of Energy could easily be updated to showcase the newest in alternative energy development while keeping the dinosaurs with their connection to fossil fuels.

Right now, Epcot has neither thrill nor education. A GOTG 4D ride won't diminish anything. What it will do is another Tier 1 attraction which Epcot desperately needs.

Adding another Tier 1 FP choice will do little to reduce standby waits at Soarin, FEA, and Test Track. What Epcot needs is about a half dozen more viable FP choices so they can get rid of the tiering system in that park all-together.

I think they are also trying to add two new lands in the village.

We've done EEA 3-4 times over the years. It is an effective re-purpose from the Universe Of Energy attraction but it just isn't something that most folks want to experience time & time again. I agree that Epcot is going to have to do some different things with FW other than what was originally intended.

I was sad when I heard GOTG was replacing TOT at DLR. I've since seen the movie (the first one) and realize just how much fun this franchise can be. I sure don't want TOT at DHS to be changed from the Twilight Zone theme but I'm totally on-board with a GOTG attraction somewhere on property. I think Epcot attracts a large number of folks who want to tour WS for food & drink. Disney needs to come up with a version of FW that will appeal to that group.

Exactly.

Epcot (and even DHS) just show how bad the Fast pass system is in a park with few attractions. It works great at MK, these other parks, it just seems to make the lines longer for everything.

Absolutely! Epcot needs more attractions than what it has now.

I just hope Disney keeps with the theme (or at least what's left of the theme) and not just put something in Epcot to put something in Epcot......

Think of what Walt originally wanted.......... It was his dream and its so far from that. We all know it will never be a "city" .. But it could be about learning and new technology couldn't it? Not just another off the shelf ride. Come on imagineers do the right thing...................

I agree. I'm listening to Ellen's Energy right now.
