Epcot Beers Of The World Ride

I just read about you all over on the Monorail Drinkathon thread and thought I'd pop over and say Hi!

Drinking around the World Showcase is one of my and DH's favorite activities! We skip some of the countries or share some of drinks though, especially if DS is with us!

Since you live in NT, NY and can get your fill of Labatts at the grocery store or in any local bar, I say, skip Canada and try the beers in Japan and China.
And if you go with a non-beer drinker (perish the thought...) they can get wine in Germany, France and Italy, a margarita in Mexico and a YUMMMMM tangerine daquari in Morocco.
Skip Labattsmcompletely, and drink Moosehead.

I was telling dh about this last week. We were wondering if all of the countries have beer. I told dh we have around $100 in reward points on our Disney Visa to use for the LOTW! lol. I think dh will have to do this over 2 (or 3) nights. We'll have the children with us.

Just interested if anyone else likes the beers of the world ride?

Where is the entrance to this ride? Man, I'd love to have a WEDway Peoplemover type ride where you glide through the World Showcase, getting beered ("beer me") along the way!

With WDW's clout, you'd think they'd be able to get a more interesting beer selection, especially from the U.K. This selection is basically what I can get at the Kroger. "Beers around the Kroger"? That's not quite right.

The Animal Kingdom and the AKL have a couple of South African beers that are very interesting. Be sure to add this to your beer tour.

If any of you are driving in along I-10 and have a little time to kill, head into Destin or Sandestin to the Wine World of Destin. They have about 130 beers from everywhere, especially the UK, Germany and Belgium. Not a typical selection.

My husband and I have done this a couple of times. It's alot of fun! He can make it throught just about every country. I only do about every other one! This year he had me take a picture of him in each country holding a beer!!

You can get a Sam Adams in America. Yummy!

My thoughts exactley. Sammy is the best beer in America and 2nd best in the world.

The first? Well, it black with a creamy head. :drinking1

I totally agree, and I'd hate to say it, but I'm pretty dissapointed with Disney's beer selection for the most part. Sure Sam Adams is drinkable compared to many other mass produced beers out there, but there are so many great US micros out there that could be added. Sure you can't please everyone, but choose some of the more popular brewers like Victory, Rogue etc ...

For the UK, I'd hope to at least see some Fullers ESB, Flowers bitter, Sammy Smith, etc ...

Don't get me started on the lack of Belgians and other European brews.

I don't want to come off as a beer snob. It's still great that they offer a bit of a selection already, but I'm surprised by the lack of variety for a place like WDW.

Is the Carlsburg beer from Norway the same as the Rignes they used to serve? That was one of my favs from around the world. And didn't they used to serve Beck's in Germany instead of Lowenbrau? Even though all of them can be found in the grocery store, they seem to just taste better on tap while strolling thru WS.

Do any of you know if Strongbow is still served in WDW? I lived for three months in London, and fell in love with this cider-beer--it tastes just like apple cider, and I'd love to have some again when I go.

My 'Beers of the World' Tour is often coupled with a 'Bathrooms of the World' Tour. Keep in mind there are no 'easy' (the quick in and out, lots of stalls kind) facilities between Norway and Germany and also between America and Morocco.

Oh, come on, admit it! You're a beer snob! I know I am. I'm the kind of guy who gets all excited when I hear of a new restaurant/bar with over 50 beers available, just to be disappointed when I learn that they are "coors, coors light, coors ultra, coors dry, michelob, michelob light, etc., etc., etc." Such was my reaction, for the most part, to WDW. With as many visitors as WDW has, and as many foreign visitors, and as much emphasis as Epcot places on food and alcohol, beer gets the shaft.

Be sure to drink the Tusker in AK at bar next to the Tusker House, and there's another South African beer at AKL. Both very good and interesting and I've never seen them anywhere else.

As for American beers in Epcot, that's a tough one. I'd be hard pressed to pay $5 for a Sierra Nevada in Epcot when that would almost buy me a 6 pack at the Publix on 182. But it wouldn't be hard to find several regional beers so that there would be something new and interesting for everyone.

Other than a local pub, when were you served a beer for less than $5?

Well, "the local pub" does cover quite a lot of territory. But my point was that, given the surroundings, I'd be more likely to spend the extra money to have something interesting. For example, I gladly paid $9 for a Tusker at AKL. I had never even heard of it and I correctly assumed that I wouldn't have another opportunity to drink one. So, I would be happy to pay $5, $6, $7 or more for a beer in Epcot, if it's interesting (i.e., not at the Publix 3 miles down the road). I'm not criticizing the cost of the beer in Epcot or Greater WDW, I'm just expressing my opinion about selection of the beer.

How are the beers here...are they light, dark? I have recently heard of the Dawa Bar next to Tusker House where they play live african music and I cant wait to try it out. I see a beer called the Safari something or the other on most of the menus here that I would like to try. Thanks for the tip!

My next trip, when I do the Illuminations at my usual Canada bench, next to the Moosehead Beer stand, I am going to get the popcorn and try the Moosehead.. :teeth: . I resisted twice, but right now, sounds very tasty :rotfl:

Yup, that pretty much describes me :thumbsup2 Whenever I have to travel (whether business or pleasure), I'm always interested in checking out the local micro-brew scene and regional beers. I'll definately check out the Tusker. A co-worker of mine is from Africa, and he always mentions Tusker when I rib him about there being no decent African brews. I actually had a chance to try some during a layover in London a few years ago, but passed due to the multitude of other choices.

I'll be in WDW during the F&W fest, so I'm hoping that there'll be some nice surprises at some of the kiosks. I'm also hoping to check out Raglan Road for a pint or two.
