Epcot Beers Of The World Ride

All I ask is that this thread doesn't degrade into beer bashing :goodvibes One man's 'Fin Du Monde' is another man's 'National Bohemian' ;) There are so many beer styles, that you have to find what suits you personally. For example, while many people love Magic Hat #9, the apricot and fruity spice turn me off. I also don't like Guiness and many other stouts and porters (there are exceptions), but that's just me

Actually I ask one more favor ... try any regional and mico brew whenever possible. Someone probably put alot of effort into that recipie, and with the multitude of brews out there, a new favorite is just around the corner. Sure, I could probably mention 20+ brews that would be top of my list, but I live for the day that I discover a new brew that will join that list!

When you find what you like, then stick with it .. but always keep tasting and drinking ... I'm counting the days till the F&W fest, and hope I find a few beers I've never tasted. Good or bad, I can say I've tried 'em.

I agree with you, I am not a Guiness fan, but it is extremely popular and, from all accounts, a great beer ( if you are a fancier of dark beers). I am not fond of Dark beer or stouts, I prefer pilsners, ales, or lagers.
There are great micro brewries out there (Creemore and Nuestadt), and some not so good (Steelback). Most beers are worth a try (GErmany's Crest is the exception), and have there following.
My BIL and I are both adventurous beer drinkers, usually for Christmas, we try to find a little known and rare beer for the other to try. Last year, he got me Wee Willy, Boddington Cream Ale, and a French beer (lost the name). A favourite restaurant of mine (Marche Movenpick) has an area called beers of the world, and I have tried several national beers there. I look forward to trying the AK beers, and a few

I LOVE Stella Artois. Moosehead is a big favorite too.

If you love Stella, try Tuborg Premium Gold. Very similar in taste, but since it hasn't built the North American market, it is usually about a third cheaper. Moosehead is one of my favourites as well.
When My niece gets married this summer, her friend from Belgiom has promissed to bring me over 2-3 other beers from Stella's brewery. I am looking forward to the chocolate blend, maybe it will change my aversion to dark beer.

A waiter at Rose n Crown turned us on to Stella last year......but it is pricey around here.
Took my just turned 21 yo DS to Drink Around the World last summer....had a blast.....He held up better than I did!!
Next summer my youngest turns 21 and we can't wait!

just found this thread and I have a DH who is very partial to a good brew (he's a member of CAMRA - the CAMpaign for Real Ale here in the UK) and wherever in the world we go we have to search out microbreweries that sell bottles to take away or even better, Brewpubs to drink draught on the premises! Luckily for him, I don't drink alcohol so he always gets a free ride home / hotel too! :drive:
So.... my question is - are there any brewpubs in the Orlando area (besides The Boardwalk) that I can take him to??? :drinking1

Great stuff - just a few questions...

1) Wouldn't it be great if each of the coutries sold 4oz "samples" of good unusual local beers?

2) Is the beer sold in Norway really Carlsberg? Is the theory that all Scandinavial countries are all the same????

3) Is there a Moroccian beer?

4) Right now my favority American beer is a Belgian Wheat brewed by a regional brewery from Colorado - Blue Moon Brewery ;) (Yeah, I know - but it's a great summer beer, really!)

There is an advertising magazine for the Kissimmee/Orlando corridor, you can pick it up at any of the hotels or resorts. In it, is an advertisement for an Irish Pub, called the Lions Den, or something along those lines, that brags over 100 beers on tap.

Dude, that's the last straw! :furious: I'll bash whatever I want to bash!

Seriously, I'm with you. The tone of this thread was surprisingly surly for a while there. To paraphrase a "famous" beer lover, RELAX, have a brew! :drinking: :drinking:

Despite its size, Orlando doesn't strike me as a very worldly city (no pun). I googled "orlando" and "brewery" and came up with a listing of 3 breweries 1) Big River (on the Boardwalk), 2) Hops (a franchised "micro" brewery), and 3) Orlando Brewing Partners. I would think that the Brewing Partners would be your best bet to find anything interesting for your husband's tastes. As I'm sure he's aware, the American brewing renaissance is well behind the U.K.'s, and the South is bringing up the rear in the American microbrewing experience. Good luck to you and your husband. If you ever find yourself in or near Memphis, Tennessee, there is a microbrewery (Bosco's) there that weekly has real cask ales. I think it would make CAMRA proud.

How brave do you have to be to try mission space after beers of the world?

I'll accept that challenge in a few months. I'd like to consider myself an engineering trailblazer, and someone needs to study the effects of alcohol consumption on space travel from a scientific perspective.

Blue moon is also quite popular with me and my freinds over here in NY :) !

We have a micro brewery where we live called Trailhead Brewing Co. I always get the raspberry wheat beer. I love it. It tastes like a cross between a raspberry wine cooler and a light wheat beer. I know it sounds weird but it is really good. Most guys won't try because they think it is a girly beer. But the ones that do try it think it is good. Then they go back to their manly beers...... :rotfl2:

They have a Raspberry Wheat beer at the High Noon Saloon in Leavenworth, KS that's great too. Won several awards. Don't ask why I was in Leavenworth, though.
