ENTERTAIN code invalid at Dollar?

Hi,
Was just helping a friend look for a rental car, and it apparently isn't working now, as last week, I actually plugged in his dates, and got some incredible rates, but now is a totally different story!

I told him that he should've booked right then and there...

There is a very good rate advertized yesterday in USA Today. I don't have the code but it was in yesterday's paper. They offered a good daily rate on a mini van, which is good for those who are traveling for less than a week. It is an American Express offer good until 11/13/02. I believe the daily rate is around $38/day.

you are right the code is gone now...when one uses it ....

it gives back a base rate of 269 for an intermediate

also the rate category is now rcuw5 which is the same rate one gets if you do not use any code...

as long as we have print outs ....they should honour the bookings done with entertain

I just used it about 1 am to make a car ressie for me for dec and it worked! its possible that they have an allotment of cars given at that discounted code and like airline seats they are gone now.

You are right, I just tried it (going in September) and got a rate of $198 for a week! I already have a reservation using that code and it is for $112.00, so quite a bit of difference. Guess I can't play around with that reservation anymore...............thanks for the heads up

Got my confirmation for September and October trips. I did notice some new "specials" on Dollar web site. Not as good as entertain though. I used the entertain code last week and all went well, not any problem at all.

been playing around with some codes

and have found this out....

FVG gives a rate category of FVG, KISS .....KISS.....destc ...D2

with the "entertain" code saw two rate categories with it...

MATAM

SWTAM

maybe the TA in those categories stand for "travel agent" as someone else suggested in another post on a different thread.....

just musing about that .....but maybe that is the connection .....that the entertain code was somehow meant for "travel agents" and we just lucked into it....

anyhow ....not gonna fool with the good rates we got....

Ok I can attest to the fact that the code is not for travel agents only. In fact I just tried to book it as a TA and I still got the high rate trying now. When I tried it as a regular customer, I got the same rate. I think the code that comes up after its booked is just teling them that yes this was booked by a TA or by a customer.

I can confirm the code does'nt work anymore. When I booked my car, my base rate for rental was 261.00 using 'entertain'. It's now 436.00. Thank god for confirmation numbers.

I had booked the ENTERTAIN code several weeks prior to my trip to Orlando (Aug.10-17) and had no problem having it honored at Dollar (I had my confirmation, just in case). Seems like whatever type of code it was, it is no longer accessible now for booking.

Maybe rates are just going up and it's as simple as that. I plugged in my dates and although they are higher, they are the same as National now.

Wow....we are leaving Aug 31 and I booked Dollar using the entertain code about 2 weeks ago.........I guess I got in just in time
They have to honor the confirmation that I have right?
I don't want to have any problems . Has anyone else just gotten back and had any problems using the confirmation?

Don't worry about existing reservations. We just got back using the code and it wasn't questioned in the least.

nothing like planning FOREVER for WDW and thinking everything is worked out, and then getting to the airport and either finding out that they will charge us almost double for our car, or not honor the ressie.

Home Tuesday, and used the entertain code. No problems. In fact we were so impressed with the quickness/politeness of Dollar, that we will prob use them instead of National next time. We got a PT Cruiser, which amazed us with how roomy it was for luggage and people in the back seat. Nice car, with very low miles. Very clean.

Could you elaborate on your experience? What did you actually reserve? Was the PT Cruiser an upgrade?

Are you a Fastlane member? Did you get to use the Fastlane line?

Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of using Dollar over National for the first time in October and am just trying to gather as much info as possible before my trip!

We also used the entertain code in August and got a PT Cruiser.

We really enjoyed the car also! Clean, big and just a great drive.
Employees were super. I would go back to Dollar. Didn't have to use Fast Pass...we arrived on a Tuesday so we didn't have a lot of wait time.

I would rate this up with National. We also used Budget and Alamo in the past...HATE ALAMO!!!!
