Entering park just to eat?

Does anyone know if there is still a "dining pass" to allow you to enter a park just long enough to eat? I thought I read that you could leave an imprint of your credit card somewhere outside the gate. They give you a pass to enter the park. You bring back the pass with the receipt for your meal within a certain amount of time, and they tear up the credit card information.

I can't seem to find the information again, and I'm thinking about eating lunch at Mythos on the last day of my next trip before going to the airport.

Doubt it, because there would be no way to track what you do in the park.

I finally found the article again. It's from a review of Mythos. The information about the dining pass is near the end of the review. I may try it. If they don't allow it, I can always eat at one of the CityWalk restaurants.

you can get a "shopping" period in the parks w/o paying, kind of.....

you go to guest services and they will take an imprint of your cc to cover the cost of a one day one park ticket.

there is a time limit for this, it is for 1 hour. it has been a long time since i had to use it prior to getting an ap.

you have to return to guest services before the time frame expires and your cc receipt will be destroyed.

you go past the time period and you have a charge on your credit card then.



many people want to buy an item that they didn't while they were in the park.
they need to go in the park to buy it but don't plan to stay longer than to make the purchase.

maybe it is a last minute decision thing before they leave for the airport, whatever it is, Universal will work with those individuals.


there is one restriction i am aware of.
you can not get the shopping pass when it is less than 2 hours prior to closing.

the shopping pass has to be issued prior to the 2 hours before the park closes.
the pass is good for one hour


for the dining request, guest services would be the place that can give out the correct and current information on it.

YES, they do the dining pass. you go to guest services and they swipe your card and you have 2.5 hrs to eat and get back thru the guest services line with your copy of the card swipe and the reciept from the eatery. I find it very usefull for taking non-pass holders to MYTHOS to eat. If you miss the 2.5 hrs window you just as well stay and ride cause you will be dinged for a one day pass for as many people you have in the party that required the dining pass.

With the amount of restaurant choices in the area I cant see the use of this. I know Mythos gets a lot of props on here, but there is a lot better without the hassle of getting in and out of the park.

I've done it before, even though I have an AP pass, I wanted to bring friends one day...it worked out perfect

The point is that it does NOT take 2 1/2 hours to eat at Mythos or Confisco's Grill. Grabbing a bite at Mythos and walking a few feet over to Poseidon's Fury -- or going to Confisco after tackling Hulk -- IS an interesting value proposition.

I agree with Kelly M. With in the area of Universal, including CityWalk and the hotels i will go to MYTHOS.

you would have to do that wandering before you ate at mythos then.

you have to be back within 30 minutes to guest service and show the receipt to prove you were there for your cc charge to be torn up.
the receipt will be time stamped.
you have 30 minutes from then to get to GS.


if you eat and then spend an hour in the park afterwards, then go to GS, you just bought yourself a ticket to the park for the day.
