"ENCHANTED TALES with ROB" - A Birthday/Christmas DISer Celebration! **NEW TR LINK**

Hey Rob! I was woefully far behind. I'm sorry! I'm working to get caught up.

You got some great pictures. Seeing the storytellers is something I'm definitely interested in. One of these days I'll manage a Christmas trip!

Pretty Aurora! And cute Duffy, would you believe in all our character hunting we've never met him?

Sea World seemed awesome! I would have been super irritated that my assigned seating was open to the public as well. Not cool.

I laughed out loud at your Once Upon A Time reference. You're right, Mulan might want to... chat. :lmao:

Unfortunately, the old dress is still alive and kicking. No clue why, but when I met Aurora 2 weeks ago, it was the old one. The new one is so much prettier, I agree.

I would've absolutely flipped out if I met a FotLK performer. My idols. Lucky you!!

That Aurora was actually very pretty and so was the dress. (My 10 year old would love a dress like that one.) The ones we've met recently have all looked a little like drag queens!

She was very pretty Shannon and the new dress makes a huge difference. Haha, you are not the first to make the claim of drag queens. Too funny.

I still don't understand why they schedule all the storytellers at the same time.

Me neither. I can't say for sure that they weren't staggered a little, but I did run into them one after the other.

I think the new princess dresses are a bit hit-or-miss (and the cynical side of me feels they came out with them just to have new ones to sell to little girls - or their parents to be more precise) but the new Aurora one is a huge improvement

Ah the sheep mentality - reminds me of the Simpsons' episode where they are at Duff Gardens (or possible Itchy and Scratchy Land) and get on the end of the longest line they can find figuring it must be the best attraction ... only to find out it was the line to file a complaint

Sorry to hear of the untimely fall of your dessert, but glad you at least got to try it and it wasn't a complete loss

Love that the Norway storyteller is basically Santa Claus in a holiday sweater :rotfl:

Very cool that you saw Jess and good job to call out to her and ensure a DISmeet took place! Would be funny to go back in time and tell yourself of a few years ago that not only would you still be going to Disney World a lot but you would be have a bunch of meet ups with people you met on the internet!

Agreed. And there is no doubt there was money involved. None. But they hit a home run with Aurora. Again, a lot of that has to do with how hideous the old one was.

Bahaha, yup!! And people think the only entertainment is what Disney itself provides. Take the time to watch your fellow guests. Pure entertainment in its simplest form.

Thanks Phil. I just ran out of arms. But, what I did get to sample was darn good.

Haha true. But also one of the more entertaining ones.

It was practically surreal. We literally almost bumped into each other and then it took me a second to process. I was hoping I'd run into her too. Of course I didn't mean it literally. OMG I know. Of course first I would say "What's the internet?" But I would never believe it. Honestly, you could go back just a year and I'd have a hard time believing it. But I am ever so grateful for the friendships this little board had brought.

I think you may have just helped me decide on lunch for my Epcot day in June. It's been awhile since I've had a good fish and chips basket!

Lovely Epcot holiday visit!

Oooh it's so good too Brenda. As soon as I approached, I knew I was having that!

It sure was. I love wandering the Showcase any time, but at Christmas, it's just wonderful.

Yay!!! A chance encounter with a Dis pal... how fab! :thumbsup2 Planned meets are awesome but the unplanned ones are such a great surprise, I'm sure :goodvibes On my first solo trip in 2006, I walked past Jennifer and Dave Marx of Passporter fame but for whatever unknown/crazy/bizarre reason I didn't approach them. The Tracy of today would NEVER let such an encounter get passed over!

I loved it Tracy!!! Random encounters like that are so special. And this was my first true random encounter. It really shows the power of these boards. That is good you'd never pass that up again. You shouldn't.

I've run into two people from the Dis on our last two trips and it is always very awkward to make the initial approach. I feel stupid introducing myself by my username. :upsidedow But once all that is out of the way, the impromptu Dis meets are fun. :)

I had wanted to see more storytellers, but it was crowded and we were tired. They were a lot more entertaining than I thought they would be, almost like a little skit rather than a lecture.

I can totally get the awkwardness when it isn't planned Sue. At least in this case we "knew" each other, so it wasn't as awkward as it could be. Well, this one wasn't awkward at all, but you get my point. ;)

They were fantastic!!! I didn't see many for their whole presentation, but I did see pretty much all of them for at least a little. I agree. They really are entertaining.

I love all of the impromptu meets you had in this update- Aurora, Tinkerbelle out of her element, Santa Duffy (how cool!), JessM and even Brenda.

I agree, I like Aurora's new dress much better.

And now, a moment of silence for your dropped truffle.

At least you were able to salvage a little bit.

I love the sheep phenomenon- we are always pointing out this behavior when we are on vacation.

Yum, your Fish-n-Chips looks really good!

:goodvibes

Oh my yes indeed Dee, just loads of characters in a short period of time. Aurora and Tink basically had no line, Santa Duffy is just too adorable (and as I mentioned incredibly special). And then to run into Brenda again was too funny, because I have a feeling if we hadn't met so many times already, I never would have just randomly run into her like that. AND THEN, the topper of a random unplanned DISmeet with Jess was a perfect capper to my Epcot day.

OMG it's night and day. That old one really was truly hideous which is probably why I never had much interest in meeting her.

:sad2: I'm sure it would appreciate that.

Yes, at least I got to sample it.

Isn't it awesome????? Honestly, if I was late for something and then this happened, I would be all, "Ya'll can go ahead without me. I need to see how this plays out."

Oh so good. Definitely the right choice.

Okay, I'm all caught up! Teach me to go away to Disney for 5 days. I missed 3 updates! :rolleyes2:rotfl2:

I never saw the little Yeti hiding in the Gingerbread display in Epcot. That was pretty cool. It's still hard to believe legacy FPs are gone. It's almost depressing walking past all the covered machines now.

Wow, look at you, DISmeeting up and down! Seemed like all of WS was a familiar face to you that day. :rotfl: Seriously though, DISmeets are some of the funnest things; it's awesome that you were able to have so many and meet friends in person. Pretty cool to put an actual face to a username.

Talking to someone who used to work at Festival of the Lion King....!!! I probably would have started bombarding her with questions. :rotfl2:

You can't go wrong with a slush from France. And while I've not had a lot of other alcoholic drinks in WS, I can say that with that one, at least you feel as if you're getting your money's worth.

Hope you made it to DHS in time for all your FPs!

ALICIA!!!! Welcome back. I am so glad you did this trip, especially with all the awful stuff going on. Haha, I promise, I tried to go slow!!

Haha, that was the first thing I noticed. Probably not shocking given my love of Everest. Oh I know. A little piece of history gone.

You know I hadn't thought of that, but Epcot really was the place to be for DISmeets. AND I have one more big impromptu one on a different Epcot day. I could not agree more. All the meets were what made this trip truly special and quite possibly my favourite ever. AND I saw a nice little meet you had recently!!!

Oh yeah, I did!! I was so fascinated by her and the fact that she was actually IN that show!!!!!!! Fangirling a little was I.

I'm just like you Alicia. I don't think I've had anything but the slushies. And you are so right. Those French don't skimp on the alcohol, that's for sure.

Haha, stay tuned!

Oh I really like Sleeping Beauty's new dress! And how neat that you saw Tinkerbell just standing around... I love when that happens! Are they going to have her in the World Showcase permanently eventually or no?

LOL, that's too funny about the man who went and stood in the line. You're so right though. People will just do something because of a long line even though they have NO idea what's going on. Shoot, long lines make me NOT want to do something!

How awesome you were able to have an impromptu Dis meet! :thumbsup2

So much better Lauren. It's hard to even express how much better. Seriously I know, just standing there with very few around was awesome. Much better than standing in a 45 minute line. I'm thinking she was just there training. I believe she just moved into Town Square Theatre in MK, so I imagine Epcot is a no.

I so love that stuff. It just amuses me to no end. And that's just it. Long line and I'm moving on regardless.

I LOVED IT!!!! It was so fun to just run into her like that. AND just before I left Epcot too.

Great pics with Aurora!

Ah how lucky to meet Tink without a line. Sorry to hear about the tragic demise of your dessert :(

What a strange conversation you overheard lol It's like when they say if people see a line they will stand in it, even if they don't know what they are waiting for! (And WOW I typed this before continiung reading your entry, had NO idea you brought up the same thing! Disney minds think alike :goodvibes)

Santa Duffy!!! :lovestruc He looks so adorable, great pics!

Awesome that you got to meet Jess!

Thanks Alexis. She was a good one for sure.

I'd give up the dessert (it was free after all) for no line for Tink. Pretty good trade off I think.

OMG both of those things were so funny to me. In the first one she clearly knew who Tinkerbelle was... just apparently not what she looks like. And then the guy in the long line. THAT was a classic Disney moment right there.

He is super adorable. Just wait and you'll see why he is just so important to me.

I LOVED the randomness of it. I was so hoping to somehow run into her (and I knew we'd be in the same place at different points. In fact we were at the same MVMCP a couple night's prior). But I had no expectation of that day. So that made it even better.

The Yorkshire Co Fish Shop is always a good choice!

If you keep your ears open at Disney, you can always overhear some odd and interesting conversations.

It sure is Rob, it sure is!

OMG it might be my favourite thing. Sometimes you don't have to even listen closely.

Clearly you had a DISer magnet on for this trip. :lmao:

I think maybe you're right Dani. And that wasn't even the end of it.

Not cool.

HI SHANNON!! My goodness, you are too sweet. You certainly don't need to apologize. You had a Disney trip recently. No excuse needed.

Thank you!! They really are great and a perfect fit for World Showcase at Christmas.

Haha, definitely not Drag Queen Aurora. Oh you must meet Duffy. He's an adorable little bear. I've become excessively fond of him.

I enjoyed the day very much. Something different and well worth the effort. Thank you. I was so irritated in that moment that I thought my night was ruined. Thankfully, it wasn't.

My idols. Lucky you!!

YAY!!!!! I was hoping people would get that. Something had to elicit that reaction, lol.

Ugh. I had heard about this. I so hope it's only temporary. That old dress is just awful.

OMG Marissa I totally did. She was like royalty in my eyes at that point. Too bad she wasn't doing it still.

I also love Auroras new dress, much better. Love your meet and greet pics with her and Tink!
Too funny about the lady who didn't know who she was but had to get a pic with her!
Fish and chips looks good! And how awesome is that costume on the British storyteller?!
Love watching the sheep phenomenon happen. I admit to being curious about long lines because they usually do indicate something awesome, but it usually ask before bleating and joining the herd. ;)
Santa Duffy is so cute!!
Love the unexpected Dismeet! That really is cool.

Lol at getting in line at Disney! It definitely has to be something good going on :)

Great encounters! I just love Tinkerbell! Interesting fact about me- I have a Tink tattoo on my back :)

I finally had those slushes, so now I know what everyone means :P

Look at you with all your Dis-meets and fanciness. Though it is a shame about your dessert, but as long as it tasted good that's really what matters ;)

People are silly with lines. Todd used to work at Epcot as a member of the Dream Team in 2006 and he told us that on days off sometimes he'd just go somewhere and stand in front of nothing and wait for people to line up behind him. They always did.

Random Dis-meets are the best!

That new dress is gorgeous! Such a nicer color. You guys look great together!

My mom and sister LOVE the fish and chips from that stand! I'm not a seafood person but it looks like a good choice :thumbsup2

SANTA DUFFY!!!! He's the best, oh my gosh.

Dawwww, I'm so happy you got to meet Jess, Rob! Two of my favorite DISers together. It's a beautiful thing.

I can't believe how many Dis meets you were able to participate in! That's so awesome! :thumbsup2

Totally agree on Aurora's dress! It's so easy to see now by comparison how horrible the old dress really was. :crazy2: Blech!

Oh no! I actually let out a little gasp when you said you dropped your treat!! Thank goodness it was still edible, because that would have been tragic!

Look at you, just randomly running into DISers all over the place. :thumbsup2 Pretty cool that you met up with Jess without even trying!

Santa Duffy, Pumpkin Duffy, seriously, how can people still hate on this character!?!? :confused3:confused3

Those fish and chips look delish! Yum!

So many great photos of Epcot's Christmas stuff...love the pickle tree!!

Too funny about the sheep phenomenon - SO true!!

And yes...it was always be MGM. I seriously have to remind myself that it's DHS...for some reason MGM will forever be stuck in my head.

I also love Auroras new dress, much better. Love your meet and greet pics with her and Tink!

Oh me too Wendy, it's night and day. God that old dress is horrid. I especially loved the meets with no lines. You can't beat that.
OMG it cracked me up. How do you not know what Tink looks like and still be allowed in WDW?????
Sooooo Goooooood. I KNOW!!! That is Big Pimpin' right there!
Priceless entertainment. I get a line must be for something good, but maybe find out first what it's for.
Duffy is always a doll, but in that Santa outfit... fugetaboutit. Maximum cuteness.
I LOVED IT!!! Planned meets are awesome, but random encounters are pretty special too. They really show the amazing-ness of Disboards.

Lol at getting in line at Disney! It definitely has to be something good going on :)

Great encounters! I just love Tinkerbell! Interesting fact about me- I have a Tink tattoo on my back :)

Oh my goodness it was funny Marcie. I just wonder what he thought he might be getting in that massive line for.

Super great encounters. Aurora, Tink, Duffy, and Jess. All kinds of character meets, lol. OK, that's awesome about the tattoo. I've never gotten one, but if I did, it would surely be Disney related.

I finally had those slushes, so now I know what everyone means :P

AMBER!! So glad to have you back (but not glad your trip's over). From the few posts on FB, looks like it was a great time. Mmmm right!!?? So dog gone good.

Well you know I am nothing if not fancy, just like the G-Flo ;). I've fallen in love with DISmeets. Oh that poor truffle. Thankfully despite its unhappy end, it didn't ruin the taste.

OMG I LOVE THAT!!!!! I might totally do that on an extended trip just to see what happens. Just stop somewhere randomly and wait. I could call it "Lines... Around the World".

I agree. It was the surpise that made it so much fun.

It so is Courtney. I love the lighter pink so much better than the fuschia or whatever it is. Plus the old dress just looked uncomfortable. Aww, thanks. We do make a lovely pair, don't we?

Oh its so good!!!! I'm not a big fish person either, but Fish & Chips, especially ENGLISH Fish & Chips is awesome!

Oh My Gosh you are so right. He just continues to become more special for me (stay tuned).

Aww thanks Courtney. It was a great meeting her, that's for sure.

I can't believe how many Dis meets you were able to participate in! That's so awesome! :thumbsup2

Believe me I can't either. When I joined the boards a year ago I thought, wow, wouldn't it be great to meet one? Mission accomplished I guess. But I'm not done.. lol.

http://distickers.com/ticker/tickers/lhd7cowtsxp5e9ip.png

Trying to do a ticker! Ugh, I'm technology challenged!

Well from the looks of it, it's a pretty good ticker!! WDW at Christmas!!!! YAY!!

Also, maybe I can help. Copy and paste this...

[u.r.l=http://distickers.com/ticker/][i.m.g]http://distickers.com/ticker/tickers/lhd7cowtsxp5e9ip.png[/i.m.g][/u.r.l]

... into your signature, but remove the dots in "url" and "img". If you're not sure where, it's under "User CP - Edit Signature". Then it'll appear every time you post all the while making everyone else jealous. :)

Totally agree on Aurora's dress! It's so easy to see now by comparison how horrible the old dress really was. :crazy2: Blech!

Oh no! I actually let out a little gasp when you said you dropped your treat!! Thank goodness it was still edible, because that would have been tragic!

Santa Duffy, Pumpkin Duffy, seriously, how can people still hate on this character!?!? :confused3:confused3

You make a really good point. Granted, I was never a big fan of the old outfit, but comparing it directly REALLY shows how hideous it was.

Haha, I was actually ok with it since it was free. I was more pleased with the gesture anyway. But yup, still edible and in the container, but definitely a little smooshed.

I know right??!! Kinda reminds me of your meet up with Mary Ellen. Just when you least expect it. It was great to see her for sure.

EXACTLY!!!!! Even just regular old Duffy. He's freakin' awesome!!!!

santa duffffyyyyyy!!!!! Yayyyyyyy

Life Size Santa Duffy!!! And yet he still doesn't compare to portable Santa Duffy. ;) And the update is getting close...

Oooh they're good Julie. I want some now and I just ate.

Ah thanks!! That tree was extra important to see.

This just always makes me laugh. I could watch that over and over. People are just so entertaining.

YES!!!! I just can't get it out of my head. It's so weird to refer to a Disney park as "MGM", but I just can't help it.

You rock Rob! Thank you so much. :littleangel: I think I'm a bit intimidated by computers, wrong generation. :badpc:

Still enjoying your TR and now also reading "If this is a Dream" TR. :thumbsup2

You write very well. Are you a journalist, English teacher or some other profession where you write? I'm so impressed, along with all your other fans here on the Dis.

Thank you again, Linda :flower3:
