What happens if I don't cancel my EA reservation & don't use it?
Will I be charged? I have a reservation with Alamo for a full size for $75 but if the line is huge I'm willing to pay more to rent with National & go Emerald reserve. But if the line at Alamo is short I'd like to save $25.
Thanks,
Kim

just a thought....

you could always cancel the national ressie after getting to the airport and seeing what the alamo line is like

just make sure you have the 800# with you

they do not ask why you are cancelling, but then you have fulfilled your part by freeing up the car...

otherwise, i think they hold your national emerald aisle ressie until midnight and then it drops off the system ( we forgot to cancel our ressie once, in talking to the EA desk i apologized for not cancelling it, but was told it just fell off the system if we did not show up and we would not be charged )

of the two scenarios, i think the first one is better....since it frees the car up earlier if you do not plan on using it....

I would cancel whichever one I didn't use at the airport. I just thought I had read somewhere on National's site that they may charge you if not cancelled within 24hrs of ressie.

Thanks

I was at MCO in December Alamo and National's counter were right next to each other. The agents behind the counters uniforms had the National and Alamo logo on them. All of them shared there counters. I had a ressie w/ Alamo but I was actually pulled over to the National counter for check in. You might want to call and see if this is still the way it works b/c then you won't have to worry about the lines if they are the same.

From National's web site:
"No-show
* National Car Rental may charge a fee for vehicles that are reserved but not rented, if the reservation is not canceled 24 hours prior to anticipated arrival.
* No-show fees will be billed to the credit card given at the time of reservation."

This does say "may" rather than "will", but note that for an Emerald Aisle/Emerald Reserve reservation, National has your credit card information from the Emerald Club membership profile. The 24-hour cancellation requirement means that it's too late for you to cancel after you've arrived at the airport and still be assured of avoiding the "no-show" charge (which is $50 I believe).

yes we were under that impression too, that is why we called to apologize saying we had heard if we did not cancel our reservation that we would be charged for it

the customer service representative just said the reservation fell from the computer at midnight or something like that

in light of what ralph posted. why not just call the Emerald Aisle customer service

to see what they say and make sure you get the name of the rep that you spoke to....
