El Rio Del Tiempo Being Replaced?

I hope that it is reopened by the time we go in August as I always enjoy this ride - and one day maybe will persuade DS to eat at the restaurant!!!

It will be reopened by August thankfully. That's when we will be there as well. It reopens April 2nd. I'm looking forward to the changes personally. I'm a huge Donald fan!

The ride needs it! Even in the busiest seasons, where you couldn't even walk around Epcot because of all the bodies, I've seen that poor old ride have a 3 minute wait!

Count me in as excited. I'm glad to have experienced the current version, but the new one sounds great! Maybe the Malstrom won't have as huge of lines as it usually does when people have another ride worth trying!

I really hope they don't change this ride!!
Everytime I go it reminds me of when I was little. And that song, though annoying, brings back so many memories!!! HOla mis amigos... If they have to change it, at least keep the song!

El Rio del Tiempo to Reopen as "Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros!" reopening Monday, April 2

At Epcot's Mexico pavilion, "Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros" debuts (replacing "El Rio Del Tiempo") with a new storyline and film featuring Donald Duck, José Carioca (the parrot), and Panchito (the Mexican charro rooster) from the 1944 Disney film "The Three Caballeros."

The "Gran Fiesta Tour" film features an animated overlay of the caballeros being reunited for a grand performance in Mexico City. Along the way, Donald disappears to take in the sights of the country, leaving José and Panchito to search for their missing friend.

In addition to the new film, the boat ride's props, set facades and sound system have been refurbished and enhanced. :hippie:

Wow - characters - Donald Duck, José Carioca (the parrot), and Panchito (the Mexican charro rooster).:cool1:

On April 2, 2007 - when we are in EPCOT, I hope the The Three Caballeros are there for pictures and autographs - but them again how would a duck, parrot and rooster sign a book with a wing ? :rotfl:

I like this idea, as long as they stay true to the spirit of Mexico. Should be very cool!

As long as the volcano stays ... I'm all for it :thumbsup2 . It was rather dated but yes, I would have still kept riding it even if it never changed (or doesn't change).

But the trying it after a drink did sound interestng ....
