Eight Excellent Nights of Disney Dining - Deluxe Style

sure makes the turkey sandwich and Sun Chips, I just had for lunch, look kind of crappy ......

Hey if it makes you feel any better, I had a turkey sandwich for lunch today, too! ;)

pigletforever
I want that instead of my weight watcher bar!!!!

Are you having a red velvet cake WW bar? Those are pretty good.....but not nearly as good as a Mickey bar. (I think a Mickey bar has 9 points or something like that....)

bluejasmine OMG! I want to go to WWOHP!! LOL Im a disney fanatic but I also love HP! Anyway what is a traditional english breakfast and wow your fish tacos look great and I cant wait to try the aloha pork sandwhich at Capt Cooks, tell me you tried the grilled cheese I so want that tooo! LOL

I don't remember what the traditional english breakfast had, but I do remember crinkling my nose and saying "no thanks!" Sorry....

I did try the grilled cheese at Capt. Cook's. It's on multi grain bread and had tomatoes in it. I ate around those...it was rather tasty!

Subbing!! Thanks so much for the WWOHP info as well. We're thinking of taking a day there during our trip in January for DS. Last year he "suffered" through several princess meals so I think a day at UO for him is only fair. Can't wait for more, especially Coral Reef. We have that booked for January, but I'm really unsure about it.

If you go as a day guest to WWoHP, get there super early because it does get crowded! Maybe in January it won't be so bad. I will be getting to Coral Reef some time tomorrow....

Thanks everyone for keeping up with the report!

So on the first day of our package, we went straight to Epcot for morning EMH's. More details on that to come in my trip report, but we did this so our kids could try Test Track for the first time!!!

So while DH grabbed Soarin' fastpasses, the kids and I walked to TT and wound up waiting for DH for 5 minutes. Then we got in line and the ride was having problems, but it worked out and we were able to get FP's for TT as well as hang on to our Soarin' passes.

After TT, we walked to the Land and rode Soarin' then sat down at Season's for some breakfast.

One adult breakfast platter. Scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage and breakfast potatoes. Not great, but decent for breakfast.

CIMG6173.jpg

DH got Sushi :scared1: for breakfast!?!? and his dessert was a chocolate chip muffin which my DS ate about 1/2 of in addition to a Nesquick chocolate milk. Keep this in mind.....

CIMG6174.jpg

DD got the kids breakfast platter. Same as the adults I think...

CIMG6172.jpg

We used three meal credits for this and it was enough for all of us. In hindsight, we should have had DS eat some eggs to get some protein into him because he had a major meltdown around noon (we had breakfast at 10am) and I knew it was because he was hungry. The 1/2 muffin and chocolate milk spiked his blood sugar and then the kid just crashed. Which is why we ended up at the Electric Umbrella.

This place made me despise counter service.

We waited in line for 20+ minutes to get chicken nuggets. :confused3

Grrrrr. I was an unhappy DISer who had wanted to use the credits for a nicer meal (I had been hoping to get to WS and get a yummy sandwich at Boulangerie Patisserie or to Tangierine Cafe to get the shwarma platter....but DS's needs were much more important than my wants so we had an adult chicken finger platter and a kids chicken nugget platter. DS was so cranky at this point and DH was annoyed that we were eating again that I didn't take any pics. Sorry...

After this, I made sure that DS had a little bit of protein every morning. I couldn't handle another blood sugar drop and DH telling me DS wasn't hungry....yeah, he thought I was wrong. Dude, don't mess with the mama! And you know what? We had no more meltdowns....the boy needs his protein! :rolleyes1

Up next.....ALOHA COUSINS!!! We are going to the Hukilau at 'Ohana! THE BEST MEAL AND SERVICE OF OUR TRIP!!!!!!!

Aloha! My favorite word spoken at Disney.....
We love, love, love the Polynesian resort and will find it very hard to stay anywhere else anymore. This was our fourth stay at this hotel and the best one yet - and it didn't hurt that our view was this:

CIMG6169.jpg

I'm not sure if I got the castle in that shot, but our view was AH-MAY-ZING! :lovestruc

So we had a 6:25 dinner reservation which worked out great because the kids took a 2 hour nap and then we were able to get them cleaned up and ready for dinner. I do like to "dress up" a little for most of our Disney dinners.

Here is DD with a maraca in the parade!

CIMG6218.jpg

She had such a great time with the games and songs. She is my extrovert. DS is my shy-guy.

Dinner was excellent, not rushed at all and our service - CJ - was awesome! Attentive but not intrusive, refilled drinks before they ran out, brought the little umbrellas for my DD, and was just very friendly all around.

We started with bread and salad.

CIMG6209.jpg

CIMG6212.jpg

Dipping sauces.

CIMG6211.jpg

Hidden Mickey!

Broccoli/Veggies.

CIMG6215.jpg

Noodles. Mmmmmmmmmm, noodles.

CIMG6214.jpg

Wings and potstickers. :cloud9:

CIMG6213.jpg

The meats were chicken (DELICIOUS and better than the turkey!), pork, steak and shrimp. The chicken and steak were my favorites as the shrimp are good, but too messy for my liking. I also ate about a dozen potstickers. I don't know what they put in those things, but it's addictive!

Now, as I mentioned, DH is lactose intolerant and I added this note on most of our ressies. The chef came out and spoke with DH about which items had dairy (the chicken's marinade has dairy) and she promised him a lactose-free dessert. Here it is:

CIMG6231.jpg

Not bad and a very nice gesture! :thumbsup2

But the showstopper of this meal is, without a doubt, the bread pudding....

CIMG6230.jpg

Do you hear the angels singing?? Omigod! This is the BEST THING I'VE EVER EATEN. If they ever interview me for that show on Food Network, I could gush for hours about this heavenly delight that melts in your mouth. I would dive in if I could, but like I said, I didn't swim in the bread pudding.

I was so stuffed, but I managed two servings of this delightful creation. It was worth it....besides, I walked it off at MK extra magic hours....and made room for....

:upsidedowFUNNEL CAKE AT MIDNIGHT!:upsidedow

This is a family tradition that DH and I started on our honeymoon ten years ago. Whenever we're in MK and it approaches midnight, we stop at Sleepy Hollow and get a funnel cake with extra sugar.

CIMG6243.jpg

Who can complain about this use of a snack credit?!?

CIMG6245.jpg

CIMG6247.jpg

And you have to get extra sugar. There is nothing like inhaling powdered sugar....:lmao:

More reviews tomorrow. Hope you have enjoyed this installment!

Mmmmmm, funnel cake at midnight - that's one tradition I wouldn't mind having

Know how you feel with your DS - mine has a major meltdown when he's hungry too and DH can never get it - us Mamas know these things though :thumbsup2

Can't wait for the rest of the reviews!! :thumbsup2

Funnel cake at midnight is probably not great for the metabolism, but when in Disney, all thought of that go by the wayside!

And DH's need to listen to the mommies - ALWAYS!

Can't wait for the rest of the reviews!!
Slowly, but surely, they will be done!

:dance3:

DH went to Captain Cook's with the kids and had breakfast with them there. This is where we kind of lost meal credits I was hoping to use for Artist Point. DH got 3 meals :confused3 which ended up being a waste because the kids don't need that much....

So I think the kids and DH had an adult breakfast platter and a Tonga Toast platter (sorry no pics) and DH brought me the breakfast sliders.

CIMG6249.jpg

I asked for a breakfast sandwich thinking I'd get the egg and cheese on a croissant, but these have apparently taken the place of that. I didn't care for the sliders at all. The eggs are cooked over hard (I guess that's what it's called when the yolks aren't runny) and there was canadian bacon on the sandwiches. The eggs were rubbery and I am not a fan of canadian bacon, so I wasn't into this breakfast. Oh well.....live and learn!

So we were headed to AK today and had a late lunch booked at Tusker House and I booked it so we'd get the reserved seating for the Finding Nemo show.

I like Tusker House. We call it "Boma Lite" because the offerings are similar and it's a great substitute if you're not planning on visiting AKL. Our server was Mat (I remember because he spelled his name with one "T"). He was very nice and attentive and was great with drink refills. I remember being so thirsty that day and I chugged my iced tea as soon as he brought it and he refilled it immediately.

I started with caesar salad, hummus and pita bread.
CIMG6266.jpg

DS had corn dog nuggets....YAY!!! Not chicken!!!

CIMG6267.jpg

He also had a peanut butter sandwich and mac and cheese.

DD had roasted chicken and mashed potatoes and maybe some green beans are buried in there somewhere.

CIMG6265.jpg

I think DH tried a bit of everything! I really liked the coffee rubbed pork loin.

CIMG6268.jpg

CIMG6272.jpg

Oh and the BEST side dish is the Israeli couscous with basil. YUMMY!!!!!

Mat brought the kids cupcakes to celebrate their birthdays.

CIMG6270.jpg

Dessert from left: lemon bar, baklava and apple/cherry cobbler with vanilla sauce. The cobbler was AWESOME!

CIMG6276.jpg

Next time we go, I want to go back to BOMA and try Yak and Yeti at AK. But this meal was very enjoyable nonetheless!

I don't know if I took pictures of our dinner from Captain Cook's. DH brought it all back to the room and we ate and watched the fireworks at the same time. I had the double cheeseburger and I was starving so I ate the whole thing! It came with the Polynesian chips and I honestly don't remember what DH got me as my dessert option.

DH had the Aloha Pulled Pork sandwich again and the kids had the kids' chicken nuggets. Basic quick serve food. We should have gotten room service....but the view of the fireworks made up for the food. Hey, don't get me wrong, the food was good, but nothing over-the-top-awesome.

I found a better picture of our view....

CIMG6290.jpg

And here are a couple of the kids enjoying snack credits! Mickey ice cream sandwich (pictured with DS) and a Mickey premium ice cream bar (not pictured - sorry!)

I have to fix the picture....

Next installment will feature Coral Reef for lunch!!!

Great review....I'm all caught up. I have to admit that these dining reviews are now how I spend my Saturday mornings. I even get up early to start reading. :rotfl2:

I 'm loving your reviews! I agree the bread pudding at Ohana is about the best thing at WDW.:)

Can't wait to read more if your reviews. I'm sad that I have a breakfast booked at 'Ohana - so no bread pudding for me. :sad2: I would go there just to try that deliciousness!!!

Great reviews and photos - WWOHP looks great too but not sure about butterbeer - wondering what was unattractive about the English breakfast though - subbing for more.

Great view from your room. I nearly barfed when I saw that PB sandwich though - I detest PB with a passion - a definite reason for me to stay away from Tusker House I think  Shame because it was looking good up until then ;)
