Eggs Benedict?

I love Eggs Benedict! I'd like to get it once on my vacation. So far, every meal I've scheduled has either been for my wife or my daughter. This one's for me. So, where in the World can I get a nice eggs benedict for breakfast?

We're only there for three days, and breakfasts for days 1 and 3 are at the Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys (I assume no eggs benedict at either of those buffets), so it would have to be on day 2, when we plan on attending MGM. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge, so a restaurant near there or near MGM would be ideal.

hmmm.... i would like to know too! i love eggs benedict.

I saw in on the menu at the Grand Floridan Cafe -- although that may not be as close as you'd like!

The Kona Cafe At The Polynesian Has Them. Real Coffee Also. Have You Or Your Family Had The Tonga Toast. Huge, So Can Be Shared.

The Kona Cafe has the best Eggs Benedict we've ever had! DH and I usually both order it, then we split an order of Tonga Toast on the side! After all that, including their wonderful coffee, we're ready for somebody to roll us out of there! LOL!

mmmm, I've had them at all the places mentioned. They were all pretty good from what I remember. Concourse steakhouse put black olives on theirs, but I just picked them off.

Ugg - black olives on eggs benedict? That's just wrong. Why do chef's think they have to add their own personal touches to EVERY dish? I like trying new things and I sometimes appreciate creativity, but sometimes I get annoyed, especially with something like that. Eggs Benedict doesn't need anything added to it.

BTW, to whoever asked about Tonga Toast - yes I've had it, and though it is ridiculously, tooth achingly sweet, I do try to enjoy it once per stay. But since this is a short stay, I may forego it this time, in favor of eggs benedict.

Oh, and to the person that said they like to order eggs benedict and split a tonga toast? I want to party with you! Thats the sort of excess I can really appreciate.

Thanks for the tips - I'm still open to suggestions, as I haven't found anything that will fit our schedule perfectly.

If you love Eggs Benedict and dislike black olives, a word of warning. Eggs Benedict traditionally comes with a single black olive on top of each egg. Make sure you ask every time!! ::MickeyMo

Funny, I've never noticed. If that's the case, I guess I usually just push it to the side. It's not that I dislike black olives, I just don't think they have any place on eggs benedict.

Edit: I just spent a few minutes googling random eggs benedict recipes and out of the first 5 I checked, nonw of them mentioned olives. Then I googled "eggs benedict recipe olive" and all I ound were recipes that called for the use of olive oil. Are you sure about this olive business?

Big Eggs Benedcit fan here and never seen an olive, not even on food tv, so Im guessing its at least not an American tradition.

Have enjoyed them at Yacht club galley and loved them at Kona.

DH considers himself an "eggs benedict expert" LOL - and I just asked him about the black olive thing. He's never had a black olive show up on his eggs benedict anyplace!

I wonder if it's just popular in certain parts of the country?

I am so glad you posted this question! I am also an egg benedict fan and I have never had them at WDW! I think Kona Cafe may be next on our "to try" list!

Oh, I have never seen a black olive on an egg bene. maybe it is just the particular restaurant laugh frequents.

You've all outed me...I'm a fraud!!! I've never eaten Eggs Benedict, in fact, I'm not sure I'm familiar with this term "eggs" you speak of. ;) Honestly, everywhere I've been, and I've eaten Eggs Benedict everywhere, it's always had 1/2 a black olive as a garnish. Funny though, I went out to brunch with friends this morning (Pastis) and saw a plate of EB pass by and guess what...no black olive!!! We stand corrected, Disney and I are wrong about the traditional garnish ::MickeyMo . I will now assume the position and sulk in the corner!!

LOL, Laugh. To be honest, I've never seen an olive on eggs benedict either...but I thought you were teasing the OP by encouraging him to ask that there be no black olives on the eggs benedict whenever he ordered them so all the waitstaff look at him strangely :rolleyes2

:jumping1:

Laugh O Grams-Well, your screen name suits you perfectly! Your post had me CRACKING UP! :rotfl2: My DH just asked me what I was chuckling about here at the computer...glad he didn't see me spew coffee all over the screen and keyboard when I read your post! LOL! :rotfl:

Now, THIS is the burning question that we all NEED to know...

Do you LIKE black olives on your eggs benedict? Will you now REQUEST a black olive at every restaurant you go to? Inquiring minds need to know!

heehee...if I EVER see a black olive on an eggs benedict...I will think of you fondly! :lovestruc

The best EB I have had was at the Rain Forest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. It was great!

Yes, WLL...I love black olives on my EB!!!! From this day forward, my rallying cry will be "Give me Black Olives, or give me death!". I will light the world with my dreams of a world where no order of EB goes naked, and everyone chants my name in unison, thanking me for opening their eyes to the wonders of the dark skinned fruit, uh...vegetable,...whatever...the Black Olive!! From now on, call me "Johnny Olive Seed"! :teeth:
