Edwards admits affair

Good for you that you find this sad turn of events so amusing and hilarious. I hope that neither you or anyone you love goes through what Elizabeth is going through right now.

Oh brother, I doubt she or anyone else is "amused" for Eilizabeth. But when the mainstream media effectively sits on a story and protects a candidate for reasons I find suspicious and the whole disboards can't believe it is true becaue it is the NE, I think some tounge in cheek response is more then fine. She never once said she found it amusing for Elizabeth.

I just read the CNN story. Did I read correctly that he held a press conference to admit the affair and had his WIFE AND HIS CHILDREN STANDING WITH HIM?

If true, then this guy is a scumbag to beat all scumbags. He is an insult to bags of scum!

here's an idea.

seems to me that all the politicos named in this thread have one thing in common...they're men. you never hear about sex scandals involving female politicians.

maybe we should elect a woman to...

can you tell I'm just a tad bitter?

I dont think not reporting on a salacious story that is unverified and really irelevant can be considered sitting on a story. Some things dont need to be covered. They covered it today because it was a press conference.

ahhhhh, I'm so glad that as "regular" people our indiscretions

aren't held up to public ridicule, aren't you OP?;) :thumbsup2

No, it's an interview that will be aired tonight. There's nothing in the CNN story that says he had a press conference about it. Perhaps you're reading the part where he gave up on his bid for POTUS earlier this year?

Elizabeth seems like a strong woman who has been through a lot in her life. She must be embarrased and dismayed. I wish her well.

As for him, what a terrible thing to do.

What is truly sad is that people who could be great leaders will not run for office because of the scrutiny they know their families will be subjected to and how the electorate will react.

Our media leaves no stone unturned because we ALL NEED to know everything.:sad1:

CNN:Report: Edwards admits to extramarital affair
Former Sen. John Edwards has admitted having an extramarital affair and lying about it during his presidential campaign. The admission came in an interview with ABC News, to be aired tonight. Edwards denies, however, that he is the father of the 42-year-old woman's child.

He repeatedly lied to his wife (with whom he had legal and sacred vows), and repeatedly lied to the American people.

I wonder how many times he lied in court in order to bolster his massive bank account?

Shame on the mainstream media for ignoring (assisting in the covering up of) this story.

Dirtbag. Your wife if dying of cancer and you cheat on her!!!????

Why does this stuff keep happening among high profile politicians? Do they get so full of themselves that they think they can outsmart the world?

She was :rotfl2: There's no reason for such a reaction. It's petty, and cruel

Innocent people are hurting over this.

Well, I look at JFK, a notorious womanizer, and I've heard he was a great president. I do believe people can keep their sex lives and work lives separate.

BUT I still think it's wrong morally.

The public didn't know JFK was a womanizer, and the public adored Jackie Kennedy. Had it been reported, his hat would have been handed to him, and he knew it.

WE HAVE A WINNER HERE!!!!!!!!

That is PRECISELY the reason.

ps Low profile politians do it too, just nobody cares!:headache:

I guess it proves people can seem classy but really be a candidate for the Maury Povich show. I really feel for his wife. I hope she kicks him to the curb but I bet like Mrs. Spitzer, that won't happen. And on the other hand, if something happens to her, the kids will need their dad. What a mess.

Come on, give Edwards a break. With his wife battling cancer, she probably didn't have the energy to, uh, "perform." What do you expect him to do? Go without? I think it was very big of Edwards to keep her around to help support her through this instead of just kicking her to the curb so he could continue his life. That would have been the easy thing to do.

Please tell me you are joking.:sad2: We should pat Edwards on the back:confused3 Ugh many marriages have instances where one of the partners cant "perform", it doesnt give the other person the permission to break their marriage vows
