Edwards admits affair

.... but for the record, I have real issues with women who deny their husbands sex all the time and then expect that their husbands should happily abstain... give me a break

Methinks someone is a little bit on the "frustrated" side, if ya know what I mean.;)

Remember there are TWO people in a marriage, and sometimes the needs of one don't always match the needs of others. Consideration is always a good thing to have.

The wife in this case is dying of cancer. Does that change your mind?

Besides, how do you know any sex was asked for and/or denied?

I didn't say it was... in this case, I was just commenting on why I could understand something being a body thing.....

However, I really don't think you know what was behind it, how he was feeling or anything else for that matter... he could be lonely.. who knows :confused3

HEY I AM A WOMAN!! :rotfl2:

But seriously, I am far from frustrated... we are still pretty young ;)

In some ways yes, but we are also human and have needs as well.... I for one am female, and I have "needs" alot :lmao:

The mainstream media has left it alone, its his "private affair", BUT if this were Mitt Romney, the three major networks would be camped out on his front lawn.

I don't mean to be rude, but this line of thinking becomes so tiresome. Who cares what people would say about Mitt Romney or anyone else? Fact is, it's Edwards. What he did is despicable and beyond remedy. It doesn't matter who's camped on his lawn.

I guess America dodged that bullet.
What a sleeze, especially after his wife being sick and all.
I guess he saw her last month, that says alot right there.

Totally agree. Why is it that every thread has to be one side versus the other.

Very dissapointing, but what a slimeball.

Regardless of what his political affiliation is, your spouse is ill with cancer, you stay with them, not search for another person down the street. Most vows still include "in sickness and in health". It is a true view into character when a husband can turn his back on an ailing wife. He can forget his chances of ever being president now.

:flower3: Sorry, didn't know that :) Your comment just happened to sound alot like my ex-husband...he used to "threaten" me all the time if I didn't "cater" to him whenever he wanted. I never proved that he cheated, but considering he moved in with his now current wife while we were still in counseling told me pretty much all I needed to know. I could care less what political party someone who cheats is affiliated with, it is wrong plain and simple.

That said, no it is not right for one half of the marriage to withhold from the other, in sex, or any other facet of marriage. In fact it is unbiblical to do so. (Obviously if there are medical reasons, etc. that is a different situation entirely) but you take a vow of "for better or worse" and sometimes you get the "worse", but it does not give you carte blanche to go out and defile your marriage.

Luckily I got it right the second time around, and now I guess you could say I'm right there with ya ;) DH has said more than once that our roles are reversed in that aspect :lmao:

Just for the record, after being cheated on in the past, I doubt there is anything in the world that DH could do to me to ever make me go down that road. Even during my first marriage which was abusive on several levels, I would never have done that.

Come on, give Edwards a break. With his wife battling cancer, she probably didn't have the energy to, uh, "perform." What do you expect him to do? Go without? I think it was very big of Edwards to keep her around to help support her through this instead of just kicking her to the curb so he could continue his life. That would have been the easy thing to do.
I know that corndog is being roundly condemned for what many consider a "tasteless" comment. And it is tasteless. But for mere words to capture just what a tasteless thing Edwards has done to his wife, the comment itself would need to be incredibly tasteless. I think corndog has come closest to capturing what a reprobate the man is.

Supporting an ambitious politician is a lot to ask of a spouse. To be repayed for years of support and sacrifice in this manner is beyond atrocious. It doesn't matter if Edwards is a public or private citizen. Some things just are.

I remember not too long ago when Ann Coulter publicly used a homosexual slur to refer to Edwards. I hope that Edwards can now find solace in a rare double: proving Coulter wrong while making her seem like a truly decent person in comparison to himself.

He's a slime ball, and would be one regardless of party affiliation.

I am ok with this as long as there are no double standards. McCain should be held to task - more importantly because he actually IS the candidate. Edwards had dropped out months ago. Cindy married John in May of 1980 - his divorce was final in April of 1980. How long was that going on? He cheated on his wife with a beautiful blond heiress. Nice.

So while he was cheating on his sick wife, his mistress was cheating on him? Nice people.

LOL hey! sometimes I just go along with it for his sake... and then I think about Disney :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: But don't tell my DH ;)

Betcha he KNOWS what LONELY is tonight!!!!!!!

Dawn was making a point. This story has been out there (internet/tabloids) for almost a year now, yet the "legit" media hasn't even touched it. :confused3

In late 2007/early 2008 Obamas Pastors comments were all over the Internet & Tabloids...again it wasnt till finally FOX picked it up, that it became a legit "story".

When the rumor about McCain using a derogatory term about his wife years ago, hit the tabloids & internet...The 'Legit' press did run with that story ASAP.

One must wonder what the 'legit" press knows and are not reporting on, simply based on their own political beliefs/corporate media bias:confused3 It is their job to report the news, not their job to supress news. It is all troubling. Once the press looses it's "impartiality", we has a country are in more serious trouble than we think. While the NE is not excatley the epitome of Journalism, in this case they did precisely what journalist should be doing.

Whats more tacky...The politician doing the sleazy acts? The reporters following the politician doing the sleazy acts and reporting it? The reporters knowing the politician is involved in sleaze, and looking the other way, why he dupes the American public?

I could be that the Legit press suppressed this story due to Mrs. Edwards illness. :confused3

So McCain is as well?

Do you have proof that he cheated? Can you give me a date that McCain and his first wife split vs the date he first slept with his new wife? A month between a divorce being final and getting remarried, does not mean he cheated.

But yes, if it is/was true then I would say he was a slimeball for doing so. That's just how I was raised.

I have to add that we have a fairly long list of slimeballs in this respect that have been our president in the past as well.

I believe he admits it. He even entered into politics soon thereafter. Did I mention his exwife had suffered majore injuries prior to the break up, leaving her heavier, 4 inches shorter, and limping?:confused3

This is not a political issue. The man is a slimeball. Spitzer is a slimeball. That yutz tapping his foot in the men's bathroom is a slimeball. The idiot from Florida texting disgusting messages to underage boys was a slimeball (but not a cheating slimeball). If McCain cheated on his wife, he was a slimeball. Have I got enough from both sides? Anytime a politician (usually male) thinks he is so wonderful that he does not have to play by the rules, he is a slimeball!!!
