Ok. I am probably going to use Airtran for my August trip and it will be my first time. I have heard that they are notorious for changing their schedules really close to when you fly, like a month before.

What I want to know is do they always do that and how far in advance has it happened in the past. If their schedule is the same now and also when I buy my seats, and I take the last nonstop of the day, has it historically changed and by how much time earlier or later?

ADDED QUESTION: Also, for those of you who had their time changed DRASTICALLY, like 2 or 3 hours, was it any of the non stop flights? I plan on taking the last non stop of the day and I just want to know if the non stops historically have that kind of big change.

Hope I have made sense to you and thanks for your replies.

By the way this is for my flight home from Orlando.

We've had flight times changed by an hour or less within a few hours of the flight. Then we've had flights completely canceled over 6 months away.
But then again, I've had flights that weren't changed at all.
OK, I'm no help at all :rolleyes1:
Either way, the convenience of non-stops is still worth the risk to me.

We've had a flight changed by as much as 10 hours. We called them and they had no problem changing us to an earlier flight. We were suppose to arrive at 9 am and they had changed to 7pm. We now fly SW with no problems ever.

Our flight time changed by about an hour. It was not a problem and I was happy with the change since we were leaving earlier than the original time.

Worst was having a flight home moved up for departure by 8 hours (was able to change it; but was stuck with connecting flight - which is why we now fly SW home).

I book ASAP; one flight had @ least 6 or 7 changes. Didn't get any email notification either. I've learned to monitor the schedule, no biggie/trade off for $.

Scary last change was for flight I booked for DSs honeymoon in Jan. (the day before!!!); they moved the departure time to MCO up by 20 min. - glad they did send an email that time.

Even with the above, we will continue to utilize them based upon generous reward program & price...guess it all depends on what you're willing to bear.

I booked a nonstop flight to Orlando in Jan for the end of April ,They changed the time once and only by a few minutes.

My time changed by about 15 minues. My flight number also changed.

This has happened to us once, last August. They moved it up about 3 hours - we only had enough time to go to the MK in the morning that day. What a waste of a park ticket.

Airtran does change their flight times, but not as much as Delta. I've received an email the time it changed - it was a 5pm nonstop, and then went to a 4pm connecting, unless I wanted the 10am nonstop. We took the connecting. The good thing with Airtran is that the terminals at ATL are right next to each other - so even with a 30 minute connection, we had no problem changing. I'll be using them again in October.

Knock on wood, our flight hasn't changed. I booked ours at the end of January. We used Delta last year, and they would move everything around. Until we actually left I couldn't have even told you what our flight number was.
