Eczema in babies and vaccines....

My friend's niece was diagnosed with eczema as a baby (now almost 3). I had read anyone with eczema should not get LIVE vaccines, but my friend thinks her niece got all her vaccines. Just wondering what others in this situation have been told by their doctors. Thanks.

My DS (11) has had bad eczema since he was 2 days old and he has received all his vaccines. I vaguely remember reading something about this but I believe the risk of any problems is very small.

JUST SMallpox? I could have sworn I read it was all live vaccines. I will try to find it again.

My DD, age 5, has had eczema since she was a baby. She's had all of her immunizations.

Talk about a Catch22: I read that kids with eczema are at risk for more serious cases of Chickenpox...but also at risk for complications from the vaccine.

Yes, I had always heard that chickenpox can cause a serious skin infection in babies that had eczema, but I never heard the vaccine was a problem.

I almost died from it at 10 months.

DD has eczema and she has gotten all of her immunizations so far. Her doctor has not mentioned any extra risks and she obviously knows about the eczema.

Eczema has a lot to do with allergies. My breastfed DD had horrible eczema from the time she was 2 months old until she was about 5.5 months old. After I had a flu shot, ger bad case of eczema had an even worse flare-up. Our ped. sent us to an allergist for testing and, low and behold, DD had a severe egg allergy! As soon as eggs were eliminated from my diet, her eczema went away. So, I guess that vaccines can cause eczema in kids with allergies.

I know the flu shot is egg based too and that is why they have the nasal spray for them, I think...

DB and Dsis both had childhood eczema and received all their vaccinations (small pox stopped being given before any of us were born).

I developed mild eczema as an adult - totally unrelated to vaccinations

Don't have any...but VERY glad my nieces didn't.
