Lately, my eczema is out of control in the way of white spots and splotches all over my face and arms. Lots of itching!

My doctor just put me on a prescription cream for my face, and another for my body.

Any recommendations for a face wash and body wash that will help keep it under control? She said my allergies flaring up is likely making it bad. :guilty:

Aveeno eczema care body wash and lotion. Vanicream products as well. We use the entire line.

Thank you. I might have to try that. Its just a bit frustrating to have a splotchy face that itches :(

I use plain ivory soap because anything else makes my eczema flare up.

I am in my late 40's and have had excema since infancy. These days, I just do exactly what my dermo recommends. I recommend you discuss this with your MD/PA/ARNP and do exactly what they recommend.

I have a steroid cream from my dermatologist that really helps my arms. I just use Eucerin for moisturizing them. It isn't fancy but it works.

I saw my doctor today which is how I confirmed its eczema. She prescribed a cream for my face, and a different one for my arms that is stronger. She said to use that and it should clear it up. Also mentioned using soaps that were for sensitive skin and not that smelly stuff. Just looking to see what works best for people :)

My eczema is horrible right now. It is on my hands and hurts a lot. I have a lumpectomy recently which is surgery and what was killing me was my hands. :headache:

I have done all the prescription creams. Right now I am supposed to be doing "Tetrix" treatments. It is not a steroid. I have not sat down and really started the treatment yet.

I also am doing a "cream study" for radiation treatments. I figured free cream, probably will need it.

Right now I am applying Vanicream after every hand wash. I also use A&D ointment and wear gloves to let it sink in.

I use the vanicream "free and clear" shampoo and conditioner. It made a huge difference on the face and neck flare ups. https://www.psico.com/product/free-and-clear-shampoo/

It was hard to move away from the nicely scented soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. but we all have sensitive skin in my family and switching has done us a world of good.

We use Aveeno products for DD who has eczema and have seen better results with those than with some of the more expensive products we tried. I buy the eczema bath treatment and the "skin relief" line of moisturizers for her (there's different day and night weight lotions) during the winter when she has a lot of problems, and the "protect + hydrate" line during the summer when only a ton of time in chlorinated pools aggravates it from time to time.

It may seem harsh, but bleach baths once a week. 1/2 cup of bleach in warm, not hot bath water and soak for about 10 mins. Rinse completely with clean warm water. Pat dry gently. Liberally apply a cream moisturizer such a aveeno eczema care.

Dd uses Dr. Hess udder ointment. Has had great results with it keeping hers at bay.

Many years ago, along with prescription creams, my son's pediatric dermatologist recommended using robathol bath oil for his eczema. It may not work the best on your face because you need add it to your bath water, but we saw a huge improvement in his skin after using robathol. It really hydrates the skin and helps with the itching. Love, love, love this product! I use it myself, especially during the winter when my skin gets dry. One word of caution: it will make your bath tub slippery so be careful!

Winter plays havoc with a lot of skin conditions. My dermatologist recommended Cetaphil products for both cleansing and moisturising. I use the lotion on my face and the cream ( it's almost paste like and comes in a tub) on the rest of my body. Every day as soon as I step out of the shower. As an extra layer of moisturizing in the winter, she tells her patients to use mineral oil or Aveeno shower and bath oil in the shower, before patting dry. And use a hypoallergenic hand lotion every time you've had your hands in water.

I have Eczema and it was really horrible even though I was using cream. I talked to a friend of mine that also has it and she was low on vitamin D. I went to the doctor and they did a blood test and found out I was low on vitamin D. I now take a supplement with my cream and it has cleared up.

I use Cerave products. My only problem is that creams and lotions make my skin break out with pimples, even the noncomedogenic lotions. I have super sensitive skin, allergies, use all unscented products, and have to stay out of the sun because I have had skin cancer.

I will check out that vitamin D connection!

This stuff is the BEST! It's theraplex emollient. My DD's hands got out of control and this stuff is the only stuff that has gotten them back and not all red and itchy. It doesn't take a lot either. I used to use a lot of Aveeno products, but this is hands down the best stuff that I have ever found. It was recommended by my DD's pediatrician.

She also uses this soap to wash her hands and it has helped as well, especially when she forgets to put the cream on her hands. She also has a body oil wash for the shower and that helps a lot in the winter.

Good luck!

Eucerin and Aquafor products work with my DD8. On really bad patches we use benedryl cream..wait 1/2 - hour then slather with one of the lotions I mentioned above. Try eliminating oatmeal from your diet and lotions/ creams...that made my DD worse..just a thought. Also getting hot and sweaty makes eczema worse so be careful there. Good luck.

Thank you everyone! I have cetaphil cream (the really thick stuff in a container) so hopefully that keeps helping. Might try their facewash as well as some of these other suggestions. I can't really take baths because my tub is so stinkin tiny :(
