My sister will be using a rented ECV on our trip in a few days. :thumbsup2 We have an early breakfast reservation at 1900 Park Fare so we were planning to take a taxi from our resort to GF to save the time and hassle of using Disney transportation (resort to park to resort). Is it possible to put an ECV in a taxi? :confused3 The scooter rental company said Disney transportation is available resort to resort, but I didn't think that was true. I hate to leave the scooter in the room, taxi over to GF, then taxi back to ASMo to get the scooter and then bus to the park.  Seems like a lot of work and wasted time to me. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!:worship:

As long as the ECV is standard and designed to be taken apart, it should fit in the trunk of a taxicab. Check out Post #5 of the disABILITIES FAQ; you may want to print out that page to be a guide to use. You might want to, in the room, disaqssemble and reassemble it at least once you you know what you are doing and not stressing.

Some of the taxis operating in and around Disney are adapted to carry wheelchair passengers. They are 'estate car' style with a tailgate door that opens right up and a ramp that allows someone riding a wheelchair or ECV to be loaded into the back.

I understand that the number of 'wheelchair taxis' in the fleet has been increased this last year. I used wheelchair taxis four times and waited no more than 15 to 20 minutes for one to arrive. I am sure if you arranged a pick-up in advance, one would be waiting for you at your hotel.

I know some people have had bad experiences with Disney transportation at one time or another.

I have had very good luck with breakfast reservations. We have had more than 2 dozen or so. We always stay on property (usually POP, ALL STARS or POFQ) and always have taken Disney buses.

We usually get out to the bus stop about 45 minutes before our reservations. I don't know how they know but a bus usually shows up not very long after. We go to bus stop that would take us to the MK. For wanting to go to GF, Poly or CR. Thinking we would have to ride the monorail over to the resort we were going to. Eveytime the driver would ask where we going and take us directly to that resort. Never been late. (Knock on wood)

I know that this is not a guarantee.

I have heard that you can call directly to transportation from your room the night before and make arrangements. You can also check with the front desk for any suggestions they might have..I use an ECV

good luck

I don't know what resort you are staying at, but you can manage using the bus transportation.

We called Mear's Transportation for our last trip. (ended up not using them, because we had time to use the bus system.) Mear's quoted us a price of $20 for one wheelchair & 4 people from resort to resort. We were told we could reserve it ahead of time or call up to an hour before. I was going to book it ahead of time & then call again to confirm.
