I am a Pooh size Grammy(size 24-26) and I hasve rented the ECV in the park in the past with no problem. For our next trip I am thinking of renting one offsite so I won't have to walk the long way to and from the buses. My question is what to rent...the weight maximum of 300# or the larger one. I weigh about 270 so what should I do? I don't want one that is too big and bvulky but I wnat to fit in ita nd have it be able to move. Any experience on this would ne greatly appreciated.

I know that if you call one of the locations which we have listed in Post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs (rather than reserving online) they will ask you about height and weight so they can determine which is the best size for you (and also to set the seat height properly). You can get directly to the FAQs by clicking on the link in my signature.

My experience has been that if you weight within 50 pounds of the maximum weight allowed, then rent the next size scooter up. At maximum weight or reasonably close to, the batteries are giving their all just to make the thing move. If you bump up to the next highest weight class, those batteries are not going to be as stressed and therefore will last much longer. It's amazing the difference just a few extra pounds closer to the maximum can make in just how far you are able to travel in a day.

That was a good point about the batteries. The heavy duty ones have larger batteries and will last longer, depending on how much weight is on the ECV.

You can also ask the vendor about the dimensions - depending on the brand, a high capacity one may not be that much bigger than a standard one.
