Ecuador/Galapagos anybody?

Hello! I am new here and we are doing and ABD trip in a few weeks for the first time to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Does any one have any tips for this adventure and also is there any way to do laundry on the trip? Please help. Thank you!

Welcome. I haven't done this trip, but I know there are folks on these board who have because I have read all of the trip reports in the pinned thread at the top of the forum. If you haven't yet, the trip reports are a good place to start so that you can learn more about the trip.

We're looking at doing that one (or SE Asia) next as well, and I did not find any trip reports for it. There is one for the Ecuador/Amazon/Galapagos trip but the one we are looking at is very different from that one - you get on a ship for the islands.

I did this trip about 5 years ago. I know I wrote a lot about it, and there was one long, detailed report before I went that I relied heavily on. If it’s not pinned in the sticky, try doing a search.

Amazing trip - one of our favorites! The food and wine in Ecuador were so good and the highlands were breathtaking. Galapagos portion was great too. They use a different ship now though I loved the one we were on. So civilized!

Best tip I got was to pack for the two segments separately- so DD and I shared a suitcase for highlands then a different one for islands. ABD stores the highlands one for you while you’re on the second half of the trip.

I’m on my way out the door for a trip to France but will try to remember to check back when I return and see if I can answer any questions. You’re going to have a wonderful adventure

I had thought perhaps they changed the trip..? They stay at the same hotel in Quito instead of switching to the Hacienda Cuisin but maybe its the same otherwise?
