Is there, was there someone with the name of Spiffy on board with us? I can't find any PM's or posts by them, and I have them down as coming to the Palo brunch (because their name was included in the PM I sent a few months back), but I have no previous PMs either to of from them. :confused3 Sent a PM yesterday and hasn't been read, and when I looked at their stats that have zero posts, etc. Searching for them on the board brings up nothing.

So if you're out there, or if anyone knows who they are, please let me know. I need your information ASAP.

Thanks.
Julie

They are on the FE list - I have an email address for them if you would like me to email them.

:welcome: to all the new cruisers!
Connie, could you keep your ears open and see if you can get an inkling of what the cms would *like* to find in their christmas stockings besides the inevitable cash, candy & phone cards? :goodvibes

We would love to know if our previous server and/or head server is still on the Wonder. Our server was Terry Couch and our head server was Witt Tuncharoen (I am so glad I saved the receipts for our tips!...never would have remembered their last name.) Or even our asst. server who was Maggie MacAskill. It would be great to know one way or the other if they are still there or have moved on. Thanks!

BTW - does anyone need me to check on anything while I'm on the Wonder? We leave for Seattle 6/29 and will be on the cruise 7/2-7/9.

Will you please check and see if anything can be attached to the ceiling. We would like to decorate our cabin a little with Christmas decor and it would be nice to be able to tack things up. Thanks. :santa:
Got it! I started a list so I won't forget! :)

Thanks! No need to send the email yet. I did spell the name wrong when I searched, but not when I sent the original group PM. So I re-sent it.

So much has been going on here, so if I haven't answered pm's, or been on the boards at all, sorry. Between teeth pulling, upcoming major surgery and a slew of dr appts for youngest ds, a really, really ineffective and unprofessional homeschool evaluator (horror show on so many levels, I'll be lucky if the school district doesn't put us all in jail), it's been really, really busy and crazy and nerve wracking since we got back from our trip.

From one homeschooler to another,

Thanks. Our homeschool law is very strict (have no problem with that as we're in total compliance), but this new evaluator wrote such awful evaluations-- wrong classes for oldest dd, called oldest son "she" a few times. And our session with him was horrible. All about his religious views and how the kids needed to develop more spiritually and take more phys ed. And we're not non-religious, just differently believing (Russian Orthodox Christian) and he just couldn't get his head around that. :headache:

So waiting to hear from the school district. We submitted the information they wanted today via email (they wanted barely anything- no work samples which is a first). I have a feeling I'll be taking a trip downtown next week with their portfolios to discuss things with whoever's in charge of home schooling this year.

And we have a Fantasy cruise coming up that I would cancel if my sister and her husband weren't booked. Haven't even thought about planning for that one.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Another sunny warm day in the neighborhood. Absolutely NOTHING exciting going on here.

Cartegena tourists on "my" tour - no answer yet on the question - I had forgotten the guide told me before she'd be away for a few weeks.

This trip report by Dolphingirl47 talks about some excursions in Cabo and Puerte Vallarta, for your reading pleasure http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2826215

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Been out of the loop and missed your tour info. I'll go back and look.

Did anyone every find out how they're handling excursions with the shorter port times in Cabo and PV? I meant to email and ask, but never kept forgetting. Losing. My. Mind.

The Roth family from Pa.: Lori (me), Matt and Madison, who will be celebrating her 4th birthday a few months before the trip. We'll also be celebrating our Disney anniversary on 12/13. Met at WDW. Engaged at WDW. Married at WDW. (All on different trips, of course). My parents will be with us on the cruise, too. We are so excited. We sent a request to join the FB page and will enjoy getting to know others.

:welcome: to the new cruisers...we're going to have a great cruise!

I didn't have to work yesterday, so I spent a very unhealthy amount of time online, trip planning....and I used to lecture DD about the amount of time she spent on the computer!

I booked flights, as well as a hotel in Phila. for the night before we leave (8am flight and 2.5 hr. drive to get to PHL). Also arranged our Costa Maya tour, but I'm not sure about Cartagena yet. I'm just a bit concerned about the amt. of walking my mother will have to do, but may book a private tour with the same woman Linda is using. We booked the "Mayan Experience" tour with Native Choice; they didn't have the Wonder in their booking system but added it when I inquired, so anyone can book online now....VERY prompt response from Ivan and very cordial.

I think Cabo will be a taxi ride into town and a slow walk back, just shopping and having lunch somewhere. PV, I haven't decided whether to taxi it to the downtown area or arrange a short private tour...we won't be in port that long.

Has anyone been to PV before? Details?

Where are you from in PA? There will be several of us onboard :goodvibes.

We are also very interested in Linda's tour in Cartagena, but we want a walking tour of the old city, so I'm waiting to see if that will be part of her package. I think the Wonder is the only ship in Cartagena on Dec 18, so it seems like people should be able to personalize a private tour based on the needs of their particular group because there are several recommended private tour providers.

I just booked the "Mayan Experience" for our family a few minutes ago! :woohoo: Did Ivan mention the maximum # per group? If several people book this particular excursion, I wonder how many Mayan homes they have available to host a group for lunch?

Has anyone been to PV before? Details?
We were in PV in December on the Wonder. We booked our own zipline excursion through Los Veranos because the port time was longer. I'm still working out what we'll do this time because the port time is so short. We'll probably just take the bus and walk around the Malecon. They also have a zoo in PV that is different from zoos in the U.S. because you can actually interact with the baby animals (tiger cubs, etc). It'll require a bus/cab ride to the zoo and a lot of walking at the zoo.

milliepie updated the mickey head cruise map for our cruise. I've added it to the web site at the bottom of the home page. Here it is as well.

Out shopping all day. DH asked if there was anything we could pick up for the trip! I swear he's like a little kid ::yes::.

It should be, unless the group requests otherwise...the old city seems to be part of every basic tour. But that's why I like privately-arranged tours...for the most part, they can be customized to your needs/wishes.

No, no mention of a maximum #; I'm sure they could accommodate any size group as long as they have a large-enough vehicle available. I'm not really expecting to have lunch all by ourselves; I wouldn't be surprised if another group or two didn't join us, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if it's a home, or a larger outside area we'll be in, but it looks like a lot of fun. I read that they really appreciate school supplies or toys for the local kids, so I'll be bringing some goodies.

Ah, yes, I remember you mentioning that before. Sounds great for little ones, although I know my grown niece and daughter would also enjoy it, if we had more time. I'm thinking my mom may just want to stay onboard that day, so we'll probably check out the Malecon and possibly the flea market areas.

We're in Reading.
We're closer to Scranton, but we were just in Lancaster a few weeks ago and drove right past Reading. Howdy Neighbor! :wave2:

No such thing since you are planning your vacation!!!! :)

You are in good company because today I spent lots of time doing the very same thing. Planning and anticipation is half the fun! :thumbsup2 We're gone a lot this summer and once school starts in August, it gets busy in my house, so I'm trying to get excursions planned while I have time to research. I only wish DCL would clue is in on the Port Adventures they plan to offer as it would make planning easier.

I agree. I keep waiting to see what they're doing with the shorter port times. As of now, Costa Maya is taken care of. Cabo we're just going to get a water taxi and go out to Lover's Beach, then maybe get some food in town (not worried about eating off the street in Mexico as we've done in China, Kazakhstan, and Morocco). Cartagena-- thinking of a private tour of the old city, but want to go to the monastery on the hill (name escapes me now) too. PV-- if DCL offers the tequila tour we might do that.

One thing I do regret-- my brother and sister-in-law cruised Princess through the PC last year. Princess offered excursions after getting through the first lock, one to an Embrera village, and then they took them back to the ship at the lake. Would love to do something like this. Apparently, DCL has never offered excursions during canal transit, and I can't imagine they'd do it this time.

Does anyone know what date (or ballpark figure) the Port Adventures are listed for our cruise?

:thumbsup2 I heartily agree with both! If not for the planning, the fun would only last as long as the cruise itself....not nearly long enough.

That would be so interesting...I'm sure the demand would be high. Anyone out there listening??? :listen:
