I started to work on this year's Christmas card as I want them ready to be mailed around Thanksgiving so I can drop them in the mailbox on your way out of town and I sad thought crossed my mind, I won't get everyone's cards till after Christmas!

I love Christmas cards! and I am going to miss checking the mailbox everyday to see what cards came. Christmas is one of the only times we actually get real mail.

I am going to miss them this year :sad1:

I agree. I love Christmas cards and I have an extensive collection dating back almost 30 years. I love displaying my favorite cards every year.

I am looking forward to this year's letter opening with "greetings from Deck 4!"

At this point, I am not planning on spilting the list into smaller groups. The cutoff date will be Oct 28th for new people to sign up - so there really is no telling the exact number of participants til then. For our gifts, I have been making them as staterooms are added so that I don't have to do them all at once.

we just booked today. i thought i saw oct 9 was cutoff date. then i saw this post. is it too late? totally understandable if it is.

3) An adult in our group will always be with my nephew. We will not need any child care. So, is there anything that I should sign him up to do? I understand that each night the Navigator will be delievered and we can plan the next day, but I just want to make sure there is nothing that I need to sign him up for now. In the Oceaneer's Club/Lab/kids areas- adults are permitted to join their kids- right?

Other than Open House adults aren't generally permitted in the club/lab (I guess this gives peace of mind to all the other parents) -when you go to pick up and they let you in to search for your child, you have to wear a lanyard with a sign indicating that you are "collecting". I don't even think of the club/lab as child care - it's just an awesome place where the kids have a blast. My son loves going (he's 6), and I often have to drag him out (on the Alaska cruise I had to convince him just to come and see the glacier!).

Tips - I'm sure everyone knows the following, but for the benefit of newbies:
- putting your empty suitcases under the bed helps create more space.
- Be out on deck 4 or 10 as we sail in/out of port and you're likely to come across some Disney characters dressed in national costume!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Mine are done, because I knew we'd be gone for several weeks this month too.

Please, Don't feel badly though because you don't get to open them one at a time. Now that we are old, there aren't gifts at Christmas any longer, and our son and other close relatives/friends live far away. SO we save up all our Christmas cards and open them all at once on Christmas day! IT's like a huge family gathering and keeps us from feeling blue.:goodvibes

Clubs are definitely NOT baby sitting. They're fun - my grandkids LOVE going to club and beg to go as often as they can.

If your suitcases appear to be too large to slide under the bed, LIFT the foot of the bed. The edges are lower than the space underneath. If you have one of those fat two sided suitcases, slide it under OPEN. Then, when you're done with some thing or garment for the rest of the trip, you can slide it out and drop the item in.

Happy Day, all!

Welcome Aboard!!:welcome:
Now that you will be joining us on this cruise, means that you will be GOLD on the Galveston cruise in January that we will also be on....

Audrey and Doug

thanks for the welcome! because of this cruise, we decided to cancel the Galveston cruise. but that cruise paid for this one AND airfare.

Any big wine drinkers out there? Can you bring your own? If so, does anyone know if they charge a corkage fee? If not, does the ship have a big selection and are the prices reasonable for decent wines? Btw, I'm not sure what this says about me that I'm already planning my alcohol consumption.

Bring your own. No worries. On the last PC between DH and myself we carried on 14 bottles of wine. You are not suppose to put any liquids in your checked bags. If you pour it in your cabin and carry your glass to dinner there is no charge. If you take the bottle I believe the corkage fee is $18.

Yes, you can bring your own on the ship as long as you carry it on and do not pack it. You are free to consume it in your room without a corkage fee. If you bring it into the MDRs, there is a $20 corkage fee. I don't drink wine, I perfer vodka, but my sister is a huge wine drinker. She just brings her own and has a glass before dinner. Don't forget your corkscrew opener! My sister walks by a bar on the first night and asks for a wine glass and uses it in the room.

I am not sure about the selections or prices but I know you can per-order a wine package.

And don't worry, you are late on your alcohol consumption planning, one of the first things I asked was, Is there a liquor store within walking distance to Disneyland? Got to stock up in Cali before we board.

We bring on our own wine...and beer...and root beer. Gotta keep everyone happy ya know!

Room service brings us clean glasses every day (we just ask for them when we order our cheese platter) and also brought a corkscrew for us when we asked. I do like to bring my own reusable cork.

Inflation...like everything else the corkage fee has gone up too!

We have taken our glass of wine to MDRs every night. In fact, if our head server meets us at the door he would take my glass for me and offer his arm.

We also put in a standing order with room service for 3 wine glasses to be delivered everyday at 3:00 pm. That way we each have a glass for dinner. We leave our glasses at the table and then DH has a glass in the room to take to the evening entertainment. I usually order a frou frou coffee during the entertainment. Yum yum, I can hardly wait.

It's a chore carrying on that many bottles and I used to only have a tote for my carry on but I've learned that you enter the boat, go to lunch and sit there until the room is ready. So now I take my rollaboard with a case of bottled water and the wine. It's only a few hours you have to worry about that bag and then you're in the room and have your libations for the cruise.

Cards are ordered. I went with:
SEAson's Greetings from the Disney Wonder
Wishing you smooth sailing as you cruise into the Holiday Season and the New Year.

DH was quick to point out that the photos were from our Fantasy cruise in April, not from the Wonder.

As much as I hate to say it, but yes the cutoff was October 9th (sorry don't know why I posted 10/28).

Men :rotfl2:

love your card!

FE gifts are in/ done. They turned out soooooo cute!! I really want to show them but don't want to ruin the surprise.

I just hope everyone loves Donald as much as me!

I will be away the week before Thanksgiving, so our Christmas tree will go up over Thanksgiving weekend, and our apartment will be as decorated as it's going to be. We won't be home until sometime late on Christmas Day, but we're celebrating with DH's family over the New Year's weekend. (Shhh...they're throwing a surprise anniversary party for us, but had to tell me, because we weren't planning to arrive there until 12/31, and the party will be on our actual anniversary, 12/30. DH doesn't know anything about it, or he wouldn't go!) We no longer exchange gifts, so there's no shopping to worry about, and we'll bring our cards with us.

In all of our cruises, we've never ordered anything from room service! If we had our morning tea delivered, DH would see no reason to get up and leave the room until it was time for lunch LOL!!!

We're definitely bringing our own wine, and will likely take a glass to dinner each night, and just do a full bottle on our Palo night. The selection of wine is awful (Rosa Regale I know is a big fav, but I hate it!) so we bring our own. I much prefer drier wines, and they're virtually nonexistent at all Disney venues.

I bring my own wine on as well. You can go to any bar and ask for an empty wine glass that you can take back to your room. I bring a glass of wine with me to the MDR almost every night and have never been charged even though my servers know that I brought my own wine onboard. Funny enough, there have been a few times when I showed up to dinner without wine and my server has brought me out a glass of red wine for me to try. :rotfl2:

I also bring a bottle of skinny margarita mix and some salt for the rim of my glass. So yummy! THis trip will be tough though to carry liquor on. I can only carry so much and I just don't feel right putting bottles in my kid's backpacks! :rotfl2:

I thought this was the whole point of having kids??:confused3 More mules to help carry my booze. If this isn't the case, I might have to rethink this having kids things!!
