Read the last post and was a confused new cruiser. What is Ogt and Vgt and what are those rates for? Thanks. Sherry

I just googled Ogt and laughed at what came up. My favorite was Orginal Gangster Tool!

OGT - Outside Guarantee
VGT - Verandah Guarantee

You are guaranteed the cabin category but have no say what cabing. Must pay in full at time of booking.

The OGT for 4 is $4700. Yesterday the cheapest outside cabin was over $6,000. DCL sells off empty cabins this way.

lol.

OGT=Oceanview guaranteed. VGT=Veranda guaranteed. Disney has been using these restricted rates to help fill up the ships.

Okay, I really want to go on this cruise, but I missed the time period when there was Interior Room Guaranty. And now there are no more interior rooms!
As a solo traveler, I have to pay a single supplement, which really burns my ship:sad1:

So, is it possible/feasable/doable, unheard of, to swap cabins privately?

Here's the plan: I pay for a Oceanview Room Guaranty at the single supplement price. Which is really a double occupancy/two adult price.

Some other couple/family with an Interior room buys me out...
(ie. the difference in price paid originally) and I then take their Interior room. That way they don't have to pay full price for an Oceanview or risk a penalty for cancelling past the Paid in Full Date. They get more room for less.

Any thoughts, offers?

Pam

I believe the OGT now offered is not much more than the IGT a few months ago. I don't think you'll save much.

My guess is VGT will be announced soon.

Anyone have an educated guess as to what the VGT rate will be, if offered, when you compare it to the OGT rate they posted?

The IGT (2 adults + 1 child) = $3530.56 (no longer available)
The OGT (2 adults + 1 child) = $3605.91 (no available)

We booked 11C GTY and got a 9C room upgrade, but if I cancelled and rebooked with the OGT rate, I'd save $300-400. Not sure if it is worth the gamble of doing an OGT because I think we got a good cabin, but if a VGT rate becomes available that is similiar to what I paid for my GTY, then I might go for it.

ETA: I forgot to include applicable cancellation fees, so my savings are not accurate.

Somebody on FB reminded me that the DCL site doesn't change your category listing if they upgrade you. I read my Passporter wrong, too (bifocals:blush:). So we did get pixiedust:!! Booked 11B, got 9B.

I made that mistake too. I had thought we had not been upgraded because it still said 11B. So I thought :sad2:. But tonight when I was looking up my room to see what the reviews were pixiedust: 9B oceanview. So we did get an upgrade.

I also made the same mistake. I booked 11C GTY, and my cabin # still stated 11C, but when I looked up the reviews for our cabin, I realized I had been upgraded to a 9C. :cool1:

Hi, Heather, I just saw that we will be neighbors. We are in 5144 and our friends are in 5146. Not sure how I'll like the back of the ship but it looks like it will be a very quiet corridor. At least I don't have to carry my wine glass very far to go to dinner. :cheer2:

We were also on the WBPC Jan 2011.

Judy

Hi Judy & Heather! I'm back there too, but I forget the cabin number - even though we had the same room last cruise:confused3 It's a GREAT location - and boat drill is in Animator's Palette.

Wow, it appears that, for our family, the new OGT rate is the same as what we paid for our IGT over the summer. I guess there is no way for us to change, since we'd have to forfeit the entire fare we first paid.

Same here. DH said the OGT rate is within $100 of what we paid for IGT. No biggie here though, DH wouldn't want a porthole over an inside cabin

My mother-in-law made me an FE for my birthday. She was so excited about it that she had to send me a picture early.

My sister's cabin's FE gifts came today. Her gifts are all packaged up and they are ready to be delievered. How lucky is she that hers are done and she didn't even do anything! Now to keep working on our cabin's gift. I wanted to work on them last night but was informed my sewing machine's noise was distrubing the presidental debate watching so I was only able to complete one last night.

Cute! DD Jess is making ours (for both cabins) but is keeping the theme a surprise. I must admit it's nice to have one less thing on the "to do" list :goodvibes.

When I was monitoring the *GT rates for the Sept Pacific Coast cruises, there was only a $100 difference between the IGT and OGT and between the OGT and the VGT. Maybe it will be the same for this cruise as well.

We also booked the IGT rate this summer. While I would love to be booking now and have the new OGT rate, I would have missed out on participating in the FE and my kids are really excited about that, so I'm more than happy with our plans!!:thumbsup2
BTW, where can I find what cabin I am assigned- this is our first Disney cruise?
Thanks!!

Us "IGTers" won't get our cabin assignments till a couple weeks prior to the cruise, and it will show up on the DCL website with your reservation info. I am also waiting anxiously. We have only cruised once before, in 1997 on Princess and were in an interior, but Handicapped, so it was larger than the norm. I like the idea of a dark cabin at night, but would not snear at an upgrade, nor ignore the chance to upgrade at port if affordable.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Raining cats & dogs here in middle america.

Glad to see some of you are getting happy news with your room assignments!
Really, I've found something to like about every cabin i've had.

Happy Day, all!

Hi Judy & Linda! :wave2: We're in 5150, the very last room. We've never been quite that far aft before, but it does look nice and quiet. And if the boat drill is in Animator's, even better - no standing outside in the sun!

Heather

I agree with LindaBabe about the rooms. Every room on the ship has its advantages and disadvantages, but I've never had a room that I didn't like!

Beth

WVURunner, I woke up in the middle of the night with a sore throat and had a hard time falling back asleep so I decided to not go to Disneyland today. I will definitely be going a few times before we go on this cruise so I will get pics to you soon. I know we are going on election day if not sooner than that.

THis sore throat reminds me though that I need to start givjing the kids and myself some vitamins to try and stay healthy. I do not want any of us to be sick on this cruise!
