Changing subjects, I've not seen much discussion on the stateroom crawl. I would have thought some people with staterooms assignments already would have volunteered to host by now.

Where's the spirit of adventure?

Where's that Disney magic?

Why on earth would you not want a hundred+ people to traipse through your room?

I was thinking the same thing--we have no cabin assignment yet but more than happy to have hundreds of people traipse through a cat 12.

OK, finally got flights to Ontario, CA booked, hotel there booked (visiting wife's relatives on 12/7), hotel near DL booked for 12/8. Still figuring out what we want to do on the Miami end.

Since I am a total newbie when it comes to activities such as a cabin crawl, I would find it helpful to know exactly what would be involved in participating as one of the hosts for such an evening.

Can anyone elaborate for those of us still searching for our spirit of adventure?

Once people volunteer to host, the coordinator makes an 'itinerary'. S/He also needs a list of potential participants so there is some idea of the number of people expected.

It's important that everyone goes as a group, with the "next" host first, so he has time to get to his room before the horde. When the last person leaves the current stateroom, the host locks the door and joins the end of the group to tour the rest of the rooms.

Actually, it's important NOT to plan it such that everyone goes as a group because it's too crowded in the rooms/halls, it's too noisy and people really can't see. Instead, I've found that it works well for the whole group to meet in an open area (Lobby atrium near Guest Services) and then break the larger group up into smaller groups of no more than 8-10 people and send them off on 3-5 minute intervals. The first group includes all the stateroom hosts. As they get to their stateroom, they stay there until the last group comes through. They know it's the last group because the coordinator will be in that group. The stateroom hosts join up in that last group and finish out the tour.

There is no reason for this to be an adults only activity. In fact, one could make it more interesting for kids by having something for them to collect at each stateroom and at the end award a prize(s) of some sort.

Cute idea, I'm thinking along the lines of a passport (kinda like the Epcot ones for the countries) where each stateroom host provides a sticker or stamp for it. It would be organized by stateroom category and then at the end, the kids have a cute book and maybe a prize. If anyone likes this idea, I could work on something.

We have an IGT but if by some miracle we get a pixie dust upgrade, I would not mind hosting.

My twins are turning 12 a few days before the cruise but the last few times we have sailed I take each one separately to a nice sit down lunch. They both love it. It gives us some alone time without anyone else feeling left out. The other one can either hang with dad or go to the kids areas - whatever they want.

Also please don't wait too long before trying to start a family. I will be 34 and DH will be 40 this year and we have been trying for almost 6 years, since we got married and it's not looking very good. You never want to think it can happen like all the Hollywood stars who pop out twins into their late 40s. They seem to have more limitless sums of money than we do

I hope things work out for you. My boss is in the same situation, she is 32 and her hubby is 42, no luck after a few years of trying. She had told me I wasn't allowed to get pregnant until she was but she told me recently to go for it. We are thinking about trying after the cruise. Maybe we will follow in our friend's footsteps from our fantasy trip (and a cruise commercial ) and bring something back with us. Even though we are on the Wonder, maybe there will be some magic for you guys on the ship.

Yesterday morning, I got a picture of my sister, nephew and niece with Stitch at Ohana's breakfast. Apparently they missed the mouse and couldn't wait until December so they flew down last minute for an extended weekend trip. We normally do big Disney trips in September and January but didn't do September last year due to my wedding and weren't going this year because of the cruise. I am currently sitting at the airport waiting to fly home to Philly and I am so tempted to change my flight to Orlando and join them for the weekend. Unfortunately my DH is away on business next week and since I've been away this week, we only have tonight and tomorrow morning to see each other and there is no way I could get him to fly down for a night I hate that they are there without me and are hanging with my friends. Both my sister and my friend are photo bombing my phone with pictures of them in the park. Food and wine looks amazing.

It happened for us. What we thought was seasickness turned out to be morning sickness. Morning sickness turned out to be DS8.

That's an excellent point! Add the wine and it should be perfect. They will sometime ask if you mind sitting with others. I just tell them it's our time alone and we want to be by ourselves. Just in case it comes up, you are prepared!

Does the host feed and water all these guests? Do you take your beverage along?

And as adorable as I find the kids passport idea, I'm pretty sure my 9 year old would just roll his eyes and ask how much longer until he could head to the Lab!

No, the host doesn't have to do anything other than allow folks to check out their stateroom and perhaps answer questions folks might ask.

Cabo: Because there's so little time in port, we're thinking of getting off the ship and then hiring a taxi boat to take us (DW, DD (8), DS (6) and me) out to view El Arco and then perhaps back across the water and past the ship to drop us off at a resort that we can use for the day. I suppose then we would take a cab back. Can anyone offer any advice/guidance on doing that in Cabo? We've been down to the harbor before, but have no idea what it might cost, how to go about getting someone and what resort would be good to head to after seeing the arch).

Puerta Vallarta: On past cruises we have disembarked and walked down to the Krystal Vallarta and parked ourselves by the pool/beach for the day. So long as we ordered food and beer from our server we've never been charged a day use fee. (Not at new and not the white sands that you'll find if you go all the way out to Nuevo P.V., but it's good enough for us and it's close.) We'll probably do the same this time around. If anyone wants more info on this, just let me know.

Cartagena: I haven't really researched it yet, so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. We'll most likely be interested in either exploring the old town (but perhaps the beach).

Mazatlan: We're signed up to do the ruins -- cant' imagine not doing that trip considering it's the last day of the Mayan calendar.

If anyone can offer thoughts on Cabo and point me in the right direction regarding Cartagena, that would be much appreciated....
