Informal poll: Do you think Panama Canal transit day would be a better day for Palo brunch than a sea day? (not related to disboard group brunch, but brunch in general)

Sounds good to me, but I suppose your dad gets a vote! The first step is to get our dinner changed to first seating, if that goes thru we can work out the details.

That's when I booked mine. The view from the back of the ship is wonderful, and we figured that we won't miss too much by having our brunch then. If we're wrong, we'll just have to book the next EBPC cruise. Actually, we're thinking about doing that anyway LOL!

Be certain you submit the health form with that allergy noted on it, and request that your sheets be washed in hot water only (no soap).

I had a massive asthma attack on the Magic once, and the head housekeeper called up and suggested it. Any laundry you send out can also have the request "no soap" on it. Or even do your own in the laundry room, with no soap at all - unless they're really spotted/stained they should get pretty clean from a good dousing.

Good idea! I wouldn't have thought of requesting special washing for my sheets, but I have had a problem with them on vacation (not on DCL) in the past. Fortunately, my allergy is more of a nuisance than a serious issue, but since you never know when a major reaction might pop up, better safe than sorry! Thanks for the advice!

John and Jeff, thanks for your responses about tastings. I think we will both pay for the first, and then speak to the bartender about future ones.

I am waiting impatiently till 9/25 to be able to book my excursion: the Canopy Adventure in PV. Hope it is still available. So DeDe, you may have some neighbors on your zipline.
Otherwise we are doing the group Costa Maya tour, just touring Cabo, and haven't decided about Cartegena.
Hailey: I assume there is still room, since they can get a larger bus, but I am not in charge of the Costa Maya tour. We will have our DS5 with us, and I think some of the other responders are bringing kids as well.
I think we may make a Palo dinner reservation as well. I don't know if I want to spend the money for the spa prices. We can get a great massage here at home, and if I wanted a facial etc I could also do that local for much less.

Nope, can't use 'em. At least for me. For the rest of the family, they would be fine. I use All Free and Clear, and I think I can get that in the pod form, so I'll probably bring some just in case. But at home I use a much smaller portion than called for and then double rinse, with vinegar in the rinse water to strip all the soap out. I can't really duplicate this on the ship. And I don't want the ship's laundry room to do my clothes, because I can't tell what detergent they will use. It's a minor problem, really, but it takes some thinking through. Most detergents will give me a rash.

DS8 is unusually messy, so we'll probably have to do some laundry onboard whether we want to or not. We'll come prepared, just in case!

DH is also really sensitive to scents; I use All Free and Clear, too (great stuff!). Our last two cruises, I made my own little detergent packets (the pods weren't available at the time). I poured the appropriate amt of All onto a washcloth and placed it in a ziplock baggie. I think I made 5 of these and could have used a couple more. They took up very little space in our suitcase, and I just threw the washcloth into the machine with our clothes. Worked like a charm. I'm a bit foggy, but I *think* there may have been some unscented Tide in the laundry room's machine.

It will be great to have fellow DISer's (and neighbors at that) on the Canopy Tour. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is still available when you book. We are also doing the private Costa Maya tour, so we'll definately see you on that one. Hopefully by the time everyone else can book, Disney will have the kinks worked out of their online system. I just don't understand why it always seems to keep happening.:sad2:

Do all Palo tables have a view?

The more Christmas trees I see, the happier I am. If anyone would like me to print them one, I would be more than willing to. Just bring some strips of sticky magnets to add to the back and I could hand it over at the meeting or leave it at your door. I printed mine as ANSI C sized because I wanted room on the door for other signs and magnets but I can print larger. Just let me know.

I've spent hours looking through the posts trying to find this one. My family would love for you to print a tree for us. They want to make up ornaments to decorate it. Maybe add an ornament each day on the cruise. Let me know what I need to do and/or what it will cost. PM me and we'll work it out. Thanks a bunch!:yay:

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Scrapbook ladies check your email boxes! I sent out a group email yesterday - and then a correction right after.

Deluging here this morning. I think I'll go out to the gym and then come home to work on my holiday cards for the rest of the day.

Anyone get the Joann's ad? There was a really cute "cowgirl costume apron" shown in the one I got yesterday. I thought - what a brilliant idea for a princess "dress" - make an apron the appropriate colorscheme & shape to tie on over the little ones clothes. An apron would take up no packing space and look princessey in the photos.

Happy Day, all!

I'll print one for ya and bring it to the meet on the first day. No cost, just bring magnets to attach to the back of the paper tree so it sticks to the door. I made my ornaments between 1" and 2" in diameter.

But sometimes I watch horrible TV shows and I am usually ashamed to admit to some of the things I watch but sometimes I just need to turn off my mind and not think. Anyway, I was watching the Real World St. Thomas and noticed a Disney Ship in the background! I am guessing it was the Magic because this was filmed before the Fantasy? Anyway, it made me smile and I am sure Disney just loves their ship being in the background while people talk about getting hammered and playing strip poker :)

Also, since there seems to be so many happy couples celebrating many years of marriage on this cruise, does anyone have any advise on what to get for a one year anniversary? I know it is suppose to be paper gifts but I am not creative and don't have any ideas. Please help! I have two weeks and thanks to my awesome boss (who might have told a little white lie) I will not be travelling and will get to spend it with my hubby!

John, if it were my call - NO! I would be so distracted by the view, I would have a tough time paying the appropriate attention to the fabulous food. Canal day, I want to be up on deck 10, down on deck 4, forward, aft and side to side. I barely even sit down, and I wasn't alone, by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I'm NOT sure if you can get a brunch on Canal day, because many of the servers are out on deck with coffee & pastries, water, and the deck barbecue at lunch.

If ArGa & family are already on first seating, you should link dining AND request 1st seating (or have your travel agent do so) That will increase your likelihood that you will get first seating.

Linda: Thanks! I booked brunch but you make an excellent point. I should have known that there would be extra food, festivities and MAGIC on deck for the crossing. Deck barbeque wins. I am glad that I asked. And thanks for the dining request tips.

John and Jeff, thanks for your responses about tastings. I think we will both pay for the first, and then speak to the bartender about future ones.

You sign up for tastings at the guest services desk. You could ask there or a club bartender any time before the tasting. Trust me. If your dream is to share a tasting, they will make it come true... pixiedust: Tables are set in advance with several glasses, one for each beverage to be tasted. The bartender takes a ticket for each place setting and there are no refills, so sharing does not result in additional consumption. Sometimes I end up drinking the ones my wife doesn't like and vice versa. We have brought along people who did not drink at all. It is casual and fun. Nobody keeps track of who drinks what.

WVURunner...I can I sneak in on this one? I'd love a tree to post on my door:flower3:

You're the best! The girls are soooo excited! pixiedust: They're on their ipads now looking for Disney pictures to make ornaments out of. They make me laugh. Did you laminate your ornaments? Who's your favorite Disney character?

I have been watching The Weather Channel and their coverage of Isaac. I hope everyone who may be in the path stays safe. Do we have anyone from the New Orleans area sailing with us? We might get a little rain from Isaac here in Houston , but not very much. It looks like the Midwest might get some much needed rain as Isaac runs into land. Sherry

Glad they are excited. I hope they have some fun with it. Yes, I did laminate mine, the perks of having a machine in the office. Hmm, I might have to put some thought into my favorite disney character..this is quite a thought provoking question.

If it is not too much trouble, could we request a tree as well??

Thanks,
