Is anyone else having slow sales???

I am even trying to sell one of the Brita Fill & Go water bottles, without even a nibble.

Has eveyone left to shop in a real store??? Come back Come back. Any tips on making items more visable. Im not sure about all of the add on features ebay offers to make your items more visable - are they worth it?

I can only share my thoughts as an eBay buyer. We are doing FAR LESS eBaying lately. Too much fraud and PayPal scamming. Since eBay acquired PayPal, the horror stories of looted bank accounts keep popping up on the net. We've had a couple of dishonest sellers this year too.

Unortunately, the bad apples and eBay's unwillingness to address fraudulent sellers in any meaningful way are spoling it for the honest folks.

I hope things pick up for you.

My sales have been mixed recently. Some weeks, I get a ton of hits & sales, other weeks have been really slow. Other family members who eBay have been doing very well, especially as the holidays approach.

I guess it depends on what you are selling and how much the opening bid is.

I haven't personally noticed any slow-downs due to Paypal problems. Actually, most of my buyers (and most people that I buy from) pay with Paypal.

Good luck & hang in there!

A lot depends on what you are selling right now too. Unless it's holiday related or gift type items- sales don't do the greatest from now through after Christmas.

I had one item up for sale last week and the auction ended yesterday. Until the final 12 hours, there were no bids on it, and this was a very hot item. I actually had an eBay member email and offer to take the item off my hands for 1¢ over the beginning price if I would end the auction early for him. Needless to say, I declined his generous offer and hung on until the bitter end, when there was a bidding frenzy and the item sold for almost double my asking price.

Like kilee said, unless the item is something that would serve as a great holiday gift, you're not likely to see enthusiastic sales right now. People are focused on holiday spending and I'm not sure that a Brita Fill & Go would fit the bill (although you might find some DISers who would gladly jump on buying it if you were to put it up on the DISAuctions).

I used to shop a lot on Ebay and have really slowed down over the past couple of years because I received too much "junk." In my experience, there are more bad sellers than there are good....

I did recently buy a few things and 3 of 4 auctions work out just as they should. The fourth auction was a "buy it now" thing, I paid immediately with Paypal and the seller sent a personal email explaining that she would ship the following Monday. Well - that never happened. I waited a couple of weeks and emailed her again. She responded with a long story about her dad passing away, etc., and said she would ship my pkg via Priority on Monday. I waited another week and still nothing so I filed a Paypal complaint. I looked her seller's history up (which, by the way she did have a couple of "slow ship" comments when I bought my item - but, she apparently came through because the buyers left positive feedback.), and I noticed that she had been listing & selling things all along during the time she said she couldn't contact me or ship my item. At just under 4 weeks of when I purchased the item, I left negative feedback and other buyers did as well. I did get all but a couple of $$ back from paypal - they were not able to recover 100% of the amount. I understand people have issues that pop up and are unable to complete transactions - but, if she would have been up front and refunded my money - I would have left positive feedback for her and moved on to find the item somewhere else.

Experiences like this have all but turned me off Ebay. I also don't like receiving something that isn't as decribed and getting stuck with junk. This has happened to me more times than not. Unless the seller is clearly a business - with at least a couple thousand positive feedback AND guarantees satisfaction of the item purchases - (similar to buying at a retail store on line) - I'll still buy from them on Ebay. Otherwise - NOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYY;o)

I have had decent sales, but I have had holiday stuff. I mostly was selling toys and such. Actually, this has been my best month (nov/dec) since I have been eBaying.

I did upgrade to the business account when eBay changed the rules about Paypal. I think that has helped. My auctions have been going for way more than I expected and EVERYONE has paid with Paypal lately. Before I would have mostly checks and money orders.

I've actually done better than I expected the last couple of weeks.. Not making a "ton" of money, but it's just little stuff I need to get rid of and the extra $$ are being used to make purchases of my own on-line.. :flower:

Depends on what you're selling right now. Toys and NWT items are doing really well - people buying Christmas gifts mainly.

Sales in Jan usually pick up. :flower:
